Contrive or not, another controversy on a variant cover. It was pulled out by the artist's on request:

PC strikes again?

Btw, the real life inspiration of Bob Kane/Jerry Robinson of the Joker......an actor back in the 1930s-40s
Conrad Veidt............really unnerving even back then.

I really can't get behind DC, Green Lantern is there only series I take interest in these days and I'm a bit annoyed that they're cutting back a lot of gl stuff, probably to put more bat books out.

I was going through my older comics (from the 80s and 90s) recently, and realized that I have no extensive Batman collection. I stopped reading Batman comics in the 90s, and the only story I own in TPB is Death in the Family. This got me thinking about getting back into Batman. I always liked the character on the pages, not so much on film. The thing is, I don't even know where to start. Any suggestions? I'd like to pick up somewhere around where I left off, which was the 1996 Annual. It was the last Batman comic I read. That's almost 20 years of stories to catch up on, but I have the time and the money to do it, at least in moderation. Also, what are your favorite story arcs of all time from Batman?

This has to do with Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, not the comics. Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor:

What's wrong with Swamp Thing? One of the better Nu52 comics.

Really like the old Swampthing series. Not for mass appeal but the spooky/occult atmosphere just abouts fulfills the monster mash mystery ala Hellblazer taste in me.

Insert: Grew up with the original Kolchak: The Nightstalker series so spooky is one genre I dig.

When it comes to comics, which do you guys prefer? The art style of Neal Adams/ Mike Grell (my faves especially on their Batman and Green Lantern works) or the Benes, Jim Lee style?

Byrne is a bit of a Kirbyesque on another level, equally great. George Perez and Jerry Ordway too.......what happened to those guys now?

If you're going to contribute to this thread then do it without being patronising.

If you have a problem with duragrips posts, then use the "Foe" option in the User Control Panel to ignore him.

That goes for everyone else as well. Staff will not tolerate abuse, harassment, or any other form of negative attitude towards other members just because their posts annoy you when you have the option to add them to a block list so you cannot see their posts.

Comic books, then comics with the magnetic cassette then we have them in hi res mobile devices. When will the madness end? .

I kind of prefer them to be in a processed plant byproduct format. The smell and thecrips of paper can never be replaced imho.

Same with artbooks. The scanned or digi copics are just as good as your next monitor but it really is different in the real version.

Old Japanese saying, the nail that sticks out gets hammered. Or you make noise you attract attention. Why not email DC comic's customer interface to attract their "attention" and ask them if there are plans for one?

Most of us here is in the dark as well and can't give you a decent answer. Or do you ever read the answers?

Batman Year One by Miller and Ma.....the guy whose name I can't spell correctly. Great post Crisis retelling of his story. Gritty almost realistic. I like the scene where a thug dumps a TV on Bruce's head and he took it without almost flinching. And how he saved another thug from a fall....."I'm not a killer.." goes to show that despite his bats in the belfry, Batman's vigilantism doesn't cross the "Punisher" line.......yet.

Remember in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths? At the Dawn of Time, those peering into it (Krona) inadevertently caused the creation of the Anti-matter Universe. Was that the hand of "God" GOD? Then 8-} Ganthet's Tale further mucked it up by revealing the Oans, by tampering with the past to safeguard their future was also responsible for the sh*t hitting the fan in the first place.

Time travel paradoxes make your head spin. 8-}

Already do that with some people, doesn't actually work all too well. And it's a legit messeage, just put throughtwo ciphers, the hint to encrypting it is in the last sentance.

Neal Adams and Mike Grell are guilty pleasures for me. They also peaked before my time. Ed Benes and Jim Lee are OK. I prefer the work of Brett Booth, Tom Lyle, Gary Frank, and Leonard Kirk over them.

Byrne is a bit of a Kirbyesque on another level, equally great. George Perez and Jerry Ordway too.......what happened to those guys now?

George Perez has left both Marvel and DC saying their both too corporate top heavy and signed a deal with Boom! Studios and Byrne is pretty much the same only he's signed at IDW. I don't know what Jerry Ordway is up too these days.

Actually it's a lot longer in the movie (almost to a stupid level) than it is in the book, and the book doesn't have nonsense like Batman like throwing a giant wrecking ball at Superman. In the book their "final" battle is a short and nasty fight to fool President Reagan.
