It's DC. What do you expect?

I dont know...not this.

Wait. Maybe he's just playing a young flashback Lex Luthor? I wouldn't mind that so much.

Or he's playing a fresh-from-college Luthor. Like an evil Mark Zuckerberg.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Jesse Eisenberg is just portraying him, but Clancy Brown voices him.

Ahhh pipe dreams.

...yeah it would. Can you really imagine Clancy Brown's voice coming out of Jesse Eisenberg, and not think it looks way too silly? It's like those Allstate Insurance ads where people start talking in Dennis Haysbert's voice.

Yes, yes I can. I want it, I want it so bad.

I don't know, I can't see anything like that being done seriously. Maybe as a parody of Superman, but not in the real deal.

As for Gal Gadot, she should be fine.

Still not happy about Ben Affleck.

If they write Luthor as a smooth, fast talking asshole, then he's the perfect casting. Have you seen his work outside of Zombieland? He usually plays a fast talking asshole. (Especially in Now You See Me) and he's actually one in real life. Ripped an interviewer to shreds and even got a bit uppity with David Letterman. (Guy's a dick. Seriously.)

But, since Luthor is so much more than that, I'd think Bryan Cranston would be far better suited to the role.

I see DC doesn't even try to replicate Marvel. I know they're trying to break new ground, but this is just awful. Decision making at it's finest, gents! DC's so badass and Über kewl that they broke the mold and stuff. Okay, I'm full of crap. They suck and they have their heads planted firmly up their asses.

The Dark Knight trilogy was excellent. Should've left well enough alone. Green Lantern wasn't terrible, but you couldn't build a franchise off of it. No. The Flash? Eh. No. Aquaman? (I couldn't even keep a straight face while typing that.) Now, Arrow is proving you can make a good, solid show out of their properties. It seems DC works better on TV than on the big screen, whereas Marvel works great in theaters and not so good on TV. (Agents is a show I like, but it has SERIOUS problems.)

One should dominate TV, the other cinema. Leave it at that and make money and be happy, but oh no, they have to try and fail so hard. I did enjoy Man Of Steel. Like... A lot. I was disappointed when I found out the sequel would include Batman and all of this mess they're bringing to it. Argh. Sad. I really was hoping for a true Superman sequel, not this.

The only thing I didn't have a problem with? Casting Ben Affleck as Batman. I don't care what the critics thought of the film, but I thought Affleck was good as Daredevil. (I don't know the source material, and I don't care, but I liked him.) He'll definitely get the playboy part right. Batman and who he is, is the least of the concerns here.

Gah. DC, just pay attention to what Marvel's doing. Just replicate it, seriously. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Get to flatterin'.

Getting his own show anyway, as a spin-off of his appearance on Arrow.

They are. That's what all this was about, trying to do Justice League up just like Avengers. The problem is that they aren't doing it very well. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it's not a very good path to success.

I'm never understand movie-making execs. Doing a Justice League movie is so simple. Take something like this.

And make it live action! Get the same writers and great special effect staff. Get Best Actor Available, whether be stars or unknowns. This isn't rocket science.

You don't mean just taking the cartoon itself and redoing the whole thing with live actors and no other changes, do you? Because no director would ever want to do such a thing, since it would rob them of all creative control.

Nope, just want some writers (if not) being from the cartoon, with the story being something in the style of the cartoon. Bad wording on my part.

I know it probably wouldn't fly.

This thread is still active? Wow...

Anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about the new castings. Affleck and Eisenberg are both great actors but they seem to be placed in roles they don't fit into. Maybe they'll surprise me. I'll just have to wait and see.

Well, it seems DC wants to go in the Marvel direction and commit each character to multiple film installments, so it's possible. Given that this upcoming Superman sequel is a success, though.
