I definitely believe Superman can still soar. I am a big fan of Superman and he is my favorite amongst all of the superheroes we all know and love. I believe that DC comics is a spectrum of characters which reside inside the polarities of Batman and Superman. Superman being on the more 'brighter' end of the spectrum and Batman of course on the more darker end. I don't think Superman should be presented in a darker view point because it just doesn't suit him. If anyone has ever read the short series entitled 'Public Enemies', which is a Batman/Superman team-up story, you can get a glimpse of how the two heroes lives are so different. In short, Batman lives a life 'envied' by no one whereas Superman is seen as a 'champion'. I know that Batman underwent a change when Frank Miller reinvigorated the character with more of an edge, but somehow, giving Superman an edge just doesn't work for me. He needs a moment of change but I just don't know what it is, or maybe to contradict myself, he shouldn't change at all. It makes me stop and think for a moment about a world, that doesn't expect the best from it's heroes, fiction or not.

And yes, I def take Supes way too seriously. ;)

I'm sure weve all seen the trailers and such, so what do you think? Does it look good? Who's the bad guy? Zod? Darksied? Trailer below:

Instead of locking, I merged the two to clear any confusion.

I am excited for this movie! The writers already said that it's going to be Zod in the movie.

Eh...not liking the costume. It's just too dark. Lighten up the blue and add the yellow back to the S-Shield and we might have something.

What about non and faora/zaora/ursa? I know faora is in the movie, ill just assume non is, so zod isn't the only bad guy.

I want to see Darkseid in one of the sequals. And for the JLA movie, Brainiac could try an invasion on Earth or something.

I'm also not keen on the costume, though I like Costner and Lane as his parents. I'm probably going to see it, just because I like comic book movies, but my expectations aren't high. From the trailers, it looks way too emo with not enough action.

Very minimally related, but I couldn't resist:

That Supergirl is super cute. Yeah I did that, deal with it. I do have high expectations for the movie. I'm relating it to Nolans Batman movies (because Nolan is producing this and it's also DC) and I expect it to be really good. Not Dark Knight good, but at least TDKR good (Yes, the second movie was better than the third. It's happened before. coughSpider-mancough). I don't like the new costume design also, it reminds me of the Green Lantern movie costume which was bad (I still liked that movie). They could've given him the New 52 costume, I would even settle for the underweared Superman

Fixed that for you.

And Zack Snyder is directing. Same guy as Watchmen and 300.

Well, yeah, no one's arguing that. It's how it goes with a lot of movies, like X-Men.

Huh, I actually liked the suit from that. The green didn't stand out from the black enough in some scenes, but overall it wasn't as bad as this new Superman suit.

...wow, I didn't even realize he wasn't wearing his signature Super-briefs until you mentioned that.

it canny be any worse than that Routh pish! + Chris Nolan(The Dark Knight Rises) is helping direct it, so it canny be all that bad

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace is far, far worse than Returns ever was. They're going to have to make an actual effort in order to surpass that in terms of Godawfulness.

Even if they canned the Man of Steel project, it'd still be a better movie than Superman 4.

I'm the type of cat that if I see a full trailer to a huge movie such as this I then refrain from looking at any other trailers including TV until film release, pretty simple. I went to the movies 2 weeks ago and saw the full trailer and I was just  .

After that my feelings were again re-inforced, this will either finally save and resurrect the movie franchise or leave it for dead. I for one have Super high hopes and cannot wait for this flick...'nuff said! :VEHI:

Like many I'm hoping for a great film.
This film is going to be make or break for the Big Blue Boy Scout after Returns disappointed.
Snyder's track record is just about as spotty.

Lots at stake for Warner Brothers with this.

The movies so far have hurt Superman's reputation about as much as Batman and Robin hurt Batman's. Even if the movie bombs, Superman will emerge perfectly fine. One bad movie isn't going to kill the most iconic superhero of all time.

But it will kill off any hopes for a Justice League movie.

Is the possibility of a JLA movie dependent solely on Superman? If not, then I have to point out that Green Lantern already bombed pretty hard. Never mind that Nolan is on record saying he doesn't want to do Justice League, and the only real news we've heard is rumors and how writers and directors can't seem to stay on the project.

It's because they have no clear direction on how to do it.

The last plan I heard was to go a different route than Marvel and use other medium to "introduce" characters, ie cartoons and TV shows.

They've got Arrow up and running, which is actually a pretty damn good show.

So you've got three main characters already introduced.

But if Superman bombs ... well then why bother with JLA? I'm glad Nolan wants nothing to do with it, I'm not a fan of his Batman stuff.

DC/WB really should question whether they need to do a JLA movie and if so, whether it actually requires the characters to be set up. Everybody knows Batman. Everybody knows Superman. Heck, everybody would know Wonder Woman. There's your Trinity that can draw people in.

The problem with that is that while Arrow could easily (And awesomely!) cross over with Nolanverse Batman, or something similar to Nolanverse Batman, neither of them could do the same with Superman since both Arrow and Dark Knight are in strict no-Superpowers universes.

Has that actually been stated though?

Could be they just haven't crossed paths yet.
