Skullcruncher tried to move as carefully as he could while carrying Shockwave's precious artifact from the storage into the cyclops lab. And that made the large Decepticon to move even slower than normal. It was likely frustrating for a more agile mech like Shadowing, who had to work far more to synch his movement with Skullcruncher's slow and meticulous way of moving around. Particularly as it was Skullcruncher who was carrying most of the weight of the cyberforming control interface. At least the Thanatos' floors weren't covered in grime and grease like the case was with the Ultrax.

In the end, the rather odd pairing of Decepticons for such a job - did arrive to their target destination. And only to receive more orders the instant they did so. Not that it wasn't to be expected. As Skullcruncher moved with Shadowing into the bay three and gently placed the device down - Shockwave was already speaking to the ship's intercom.

The large Decepticon could only shrug his shoulders and turn to Shadowing with a puzzled look on his face. "Eh? What now?"

Weirdwolf had wasted little time wondering about why Knockout was eyeing him very suspiciously. Apparently he had just spoken out aloud what he had been thinking. It wasn't too surprising to the tracker. It was infidenitely frustrating though. In Knockout's case it had really been just about Weirdwolf's killer's instict making a quick survey of how to kill a possible prey. He had never intended to actually attack the two Decepticons sitting in the mess hall. This annoying habit of his had cost the tracker far too many Autobot targets for his liking but there was very little he could do about it. Even Hook and Scrapper had been out of ideas when they had taken a look inside his cranium after a mission that had nearly proved to be fatal for Weirdwolf.

And thus, instead even considering to enter into combat with Knockout, Weirdwolf had left the mess hall with Blackwind after Shockwave decided to make another surprise request that included the tracker as well.

CR Storage

The door of the CR chamber slid open with a slight hiss, expelling billowing tufts of white vapor. Red optics flashed to life as their owner took in her new surroundings. With a twirl and a flourish, Deathdancer emerged from her CR chamber in an elegant leap, landing lightly. Her dramatic entrance accomplished, the petite femme stretched her stiff appendages. "Ah...feels nice to be back in the world again."

Deathdancer glanced around the empty storage with a slight frown gracing her delicate features. "Hm...no welcoming party?" She walked over to the door leading into the Medical Bay and saw no one there either. Started to get a bit annoyed at the apparent emptiness of the vessel, she began to consider leaving a few of her favorite pranks for some unfortunate Decepticon to lumber into. She was in the middle of debating which of her favorite gags to use, when Shockwave's command came over the intercom.

>>"All Decepticon personnel not presently assigned to one of the present, critical imperatives are to report to the laboratory of the Thanatos immediately."<<

Deathdancer felt her spark light up with joy at the news. "A party! Yipee!" Skipping through the medical bay happily, Deathdancer made her way through the halls until she caught sight of a small group of other Decepticons heading for the laboratory as well. A femme was leading them. She fell into step behind them.

The room had grown quiet; too quiet for Blackwind’s liking. Fear of silence had no bearing on the current situation…it was the mere fact that Shockwave took his time when it came to revealing his little experiments. It was probably one of the reasons Lord Megatron never put his complete trust in the cyclops. The thought brought a delicate smile to her visage.

Blackwind lowered her arms and took a few steps closer to where the commander was positioned. The smile on her face slowly turned into an even expression. The reasoning behind gathering everyone to the lab had better be a good one.

“Well, Commander. Have you assembled us here to only bear witness to one of your experiments, or will we be forced to participate as your personal guinea pigs?”

Knockout wasn’t entirely surprised when the carapace encased Seeker took several steps further into the room…directly in front of the Commander and self-proclaimed leader of the Decepticon forces. Once his ‘shield’ had moved on Knockout was pressed to find something or someone bigger than him to protect him...but most importantly to protect his beautifully polished finish.

The crimson mech sidled up next to Clutch and jabbed the mech lightly in the side to gain his attention.

“The glitch has got a set of cast iron ball bearings if she thinks she's going to get away with speaking to the Commander that way. 50 shanix says she doesn’t make it out of this room alive.”

Shockwave's singular, calculating optic took in every individual Decepticon that had entered the lab facility and cross-referenced them against the current mission-assignments that were presently being tracked within the Thanatos' database. The turnout was not 100% efficient, but a satisfactory degree of attendance had been reached for what Shockwave wished to accomplish. For the Military Operations Commander, now imperator, one procedure simply fell in to place after another. Logically. There was no other way. And now the time had come for the empire as a whole to take its next progressive step.

Blackwind's statements had elicited nothing from the cycloptic Decepticon. They were statements that fell perfectly in line with the mech's personality parameters, thus requiring no immediate attention on his part. The time would come, soon enough, when she would be able to contribute far more than simple words to the Decepticon empire's forward momentum.

"Attention all," Shockwave began, his head turning slowly as his optic continued to scan the responses of those within the room. "Progress is being made. In spite of the loss of our leader, his vision continues forward. As I speak to you now, technology is being put in to place that will convert this carbon-drenched planet in to something more suitable to our purposes or....assure the restoration of Cybertron. The survival of our species--questionable under the direction of any other--will be assured under my oversight."

Shockwave paused, though only momentarily.

"Starscream--the only declared rival to my leadership--will have been dealt with by the Predacons; however, other obstacles remain."

Shockwave paused again, only this time his singular optic settled on Blackwind.

"Declarative: I have developed a new energy source derived from minerals present on this planet. Some have tasted its potency. It is unlike anything any of you have ever ingested. It is my desire that all who wear the Decepticon insignia do so. Energy shortages of our present will be a fragment of our past. Yet here, standing before you, is technology that I have not yet been able to study to my satisfaction. Technology that may well complement the energy advances I have made."

Shockwave's optic flickered.

"Decepticon Blackwind is deemed an obstacle to advancement. Subdue her, by any means necessary, and we shall proceed. I will bring you the future you have been fighting for."

Shockwave's arm cannon charged.

Laboratory

Shadowing took a moment to stretch out his gears after bringing the device here. Even with Skullcruncher carrying most of the weight it was still not easy. None of his physical traits were particularly impressive so he depended on his mind to overcome whatever challenges came before him. Unfortunately his mind was not of much help carrying things.

He listened to Shockwave's proclamation and Skullcruncher's reaction.

"Considering where this meeting is being held I would wager it has something to do with that substance you drank. In any case, getting the rest of the materials here was labeled a priority by the Commander so lets get the rest."

Shadowing headed back towards the storage bay but kept an open communication line to the Laboratory area to listen to whatever Shockwave had in mind. His optics glowed brighter at Blackwind's remarks. He did not have much time to wonder how Shockwave would react when he made his proclamation.

"Well then..." he remarked to Skullcruncher. "It seems like things will become much more interesting."

As he spoke he continued to make his way to the Cargo Bay.

Having arrived shortly behind Blackwind's little group, Deathdancer was in the laboratory in time for Shockwave's briefing. She had also arrived just in time to catch the tail end of Blackwind's question. A wide grin spread over her faceplate at that. This femme had some spunk! Even though her own mental state was questionable, it was unlikely that she would talk to a commander like that...unlikely, but not impossible. In any case, she was always glad to see someone else lapse into her little tea party of insanity, if only for a moment. It made things a lot more fun.

The petite Decepticon listened to the speech that followed with boredom. There were a few interesting tidbits thrown in, however. It seemed their lord and master, Megatron, had finally had his spark extinguished. Deathdancer allowed a brief period of mourning that lasted for about one astrosecond. Ole one optic seemed to be making his play for the power void that their leader had left in the wake of his passing. The femme didn't really care who called the shots so long as she could do what she loved.

The latter part of Shockwave's speech had an effect of restlessness on Deathdancer until, of course, the order came. She checked to see if her audio receptors were functioning properly. Once she thought she had been ordered to attack a fellow Decepticon when the order had actually been to transport something or other to some other place. The fallout of that hadn't been so fun.

Shockwave's arm cannon charged, and Deathdancer was ready to jump for joy. She had heard right! A jubilant smile spread over her faceplate as she took out her scythe. She didn't dislike Blackwind. In fact, she kind of liked the seeker. But...she loved any chance to perform.

With a twirl, Deathdancer whipped the scythe around carving an arc through the air toward Blackwind's legs.

"Yeah I suppose so." Skullcruncher had replied back to Shadowing but unlike the intelligence specialist, the large warrior was not as quick to think on his feet. Shockwave's announcement had captured his attention and put any prior tasks out of his mind. Thus, instead of returning to the cargo hold to get whatever had been left behind, Skullcruncher found himself staring at the ancient purple Decepticon - waiting to hear what Shockwave possibly could have to say. And particularly after the now carapace clad seeker femme he had been escorting deep under Cybertron's surface only deca-cycles ago - confronted the Commander in manner that would have made Starscream proud.

This before mentioned interest on Shockwave's words did not last for too long. While Skullcruncher had first been interested in hearing what Shockwave had to say, he had been severely disappointed towards the scientist's words after the first sentence or two. It was nothing he had not heard before. Empty promises until proven otherwise. And while he was well aware of Shockwave's reputation and the scientist's past successes, it was starting to get difficult to listen to the former Military Operations Commander's monotonous dialogue. That was, until all the doors leading out of the laboratory were suddenly remotely closed and locked around the Decepticons gathered before Shockwave.

"Decepticon Blackwind is deemed an obstacle to advancement. Subdue her, by any means necessary, and we shall proceed. I will bring you the future you have been fighting for."

In mere astroseconds everything had turned from another boring briefing into a rather explosive situation. With Thunderwing out of the way, Shockwave had decided to finally act against the femme that had been doubting him in every turn. And while Skullcruncher had no doubt that Shockwave's hurt ego had something to do with this action against Blackwind, it was also all too clear that before Shockwave stood a perfect test subject of technology alien to the Shockwave's insatiable scientific curiosity.

Before Skullcruncher was able to act on the new orders given by Shockwave, one of the more agile Decepticons had already charged at Blackwind. A lithe femme, smaller than any other Decepticon present. Yet, obviously the most eager to inflict damage on possibly anything that moved. Even Weirdwolf seemed to be oddly content on waiting whether or not this femme could bring down Blackwind and her new carapace for the tracker had not taken a single step towards either femme. And thus Skullcruncher, the largest Decepticon currently on board the Thanatos, merely stepped back and moved to stand in front of the most obvious exit route out of the laboratory.

CR Storage

The door of the CR chamber slid open with a slight hiss, expelling white vapor as water flushes down. Red optics flashed to life through the visor as Deathstinger took a quick scan of the area. His right claw comes out of the chamber and grabs the side as he brings himself out of the CR chamber, slamming his tail down to tell to show that he had awakened. Upon looking at the area, Deathstinger wondered why there was no decepticon in the storage chamber. Maybe they're doing a mission? Deathstinger hoped that it wasn't the reason as he'll miss his chance on doing some early autobot hunting. Walking through the chamber, he left to go examine the halls to see if anyone was there. When he saw that there was no one, he was about to go to the bridge until receiving a message from Shockwave.

>>"All Decepticon personnel not presently assigned to one of the present, critical imperatives are to report to the laboratory of the Thanatos immediately."<<

Deathstinger felt a bit of ease that there were decepticons on the ship. However, he wondered where Megatron would be. Maybe he was in the laboratory giving orders to the rest of the cons. Deathstinger headed towards the laboratory in a quick pace to make sure that he doesn't miss out on the details. Upon arriving to the laboratory, he had seen a fellow con going after another. Wondering what is happening, he went to Skullcruncher to get the details.

The sheer terror that worked its way onto Blackwind’s visage was nothing compared to the absolute rage that burned in her spark for the ruthless cyclops. He had done what she had expected him to do…take the first step to remove her from the picture as a means to secure his place as the Lord of the Decepticons.

The terror that had occupied her faceplates slowly melted leaving behind an enraged glare. She bared her teeth and let out a low growl.

The order had been given; she was to be taken prisoner…not something she was willing to abide to.

From her peripheral vision she spotted the only other femme in the room take her chance at the first attack, but Blackwind easily avoided the move. She quickly took hold of the nearest mech and swung him bodily at the scythe knocking it away from her own legs. She then re-gripped the mech and threw him with considerable force in Shockwave’s direction.

“I won’t go down that easily you glorified calculator! If you want me so badly then come and get me yourself! Why send your lackeys to do your dirty work?!”

Blackwind set her stance square and flexed her razor sharp talons as she readied herself for the next attack…which could come from any one of the room’s occupants. If was to be taken she was not going to make it easy…or pretty.

She had taken precautions earlier when she was ordered to keep watch over Shockwave when she and her small group returned to Cybertron. Before she boarded the ship Blackwind had taken the opportunity to set an emergency message within her communications array. Initially the recipient had been Megatron himself, but with his passing it had become necessary to set the message so that another would receive it.

The directive had been set to a timer. Once it ran out said message would travel to its receiver alerting him that she was in need of assistance…that Shockwave had finally made his move.

From Knockout’s vantage point he watched the whole spectacle play out in what seemed like slow motion. It was oh so fascinating to watch and it would be even better once he joined in on the fun.

A broad smile played over his face which quickly turned to surprise as he felt a tight grip on his arm followed by a searing pain where a set of sharp talons dug into his armor. The Decepticon mechanic let out a high pitched scream at the pain that was now surging through him. How in the ever loving Pit did the femme grab him so quickly?

From his position next to the larger femme, Knockout was lifted and used as a blocker for the scythe that had been aimed for Blackwind’s legs. Once that obstacle was deemed void, Knockout felt himself being thrown in Shockwave’s direction. He wound up landing at the purple mech’s feet but he did not remain there for long. The crimson ‘Con got up on his feet and brought forth his energon prod.

“You fragged up little glitch! I’m going to make this as unpleasant as possible!”

With a low dark growl Blackwind eyed Knockout. It was then that the timer had run out and her message was sent. With the knowledge that Thunderwing would return, Blackwind steeled herself for a painful fight.

Weapon: Energo-Sword
Laboratory

No one would ever accuse Clutch of being fast at anything really. He was not a quick thinker or a fast mover, weaknesses that were often used against him. In the unusual circumstances he found himself in now those weaknesses became an asset. While the bulky Decepticon was still trying to comprehend the odd serious of events that had led to an order to subdue a superior officer, other Decepticons made their move.

The smaller femme, Deathdancer, charged right at Blackwind. He was startled to see her grab Knockout and use him as a weapon, batting aside the femme’s weapon before hurtling him bodily at Shockwave. He couldn’t quite contain a snicker at seeing the two cons so handily played. This wasn’t Knockout’s kind of fight and the femme acted like a rookie, charging right in like that. The only other experienced warrior, Skullcruncher, played it safe and just blocked the door.

Clutch grunted. It seemed like it always came down to him to do the dirty work. Fortunately since he hadn’t made a move yet he seemed to be mostly forgotten. Even better, he now found himself behind Blackwind. With a cruel smirk his right hand was exchanged for the massive hammerhead. With a swing of his arm he aimed the first blow at her right knee. There was a crunching sound as it struck her, followed by a shriek of pain from her as she fell down to her knees. His instincts told him that a blow from his hammer directly down on her head could be a killing blow. Barely remembering the instructions to take her prisoner he instead swung his arm around, bashing her head with his massive elbow, sending her crumpling to the ground unconscious.

Clutch stared down at her for a moment before switching the hammer back for his hand. He looked up at Shockwave. “The prisoner has been subdued as you ordered sir.”

Secured Storage Bay

Shadowing listened in to what was going on in the Laboratory as he went to grab more of Shockwave's materials. The events so far were entirely predictable. At least they provided the opportunity to take some of the more sensitive, and lighter, materials without the worry of bumping into anyone that might have unwise thoughts.

He turned and went back towards the Laboratory this time moving to a rear entrance to avoid the events in the front.

Shockwave had watched and analyzed the expression on Blackwind's face, calculating what her response to his statement was going to be. His subordinates within the room had taken heed, some taking direct action and others opting for a more indirect approach. Shockwave would be satisfied with either, so long as the end result was the same.

The mechanoid that Blackwind had sent flying impacted with the floor just in front of Shockwave's feet. The cycloptic mech looked downward, quickly assessing that no notable damage had been done to Knockout--as he would be needed in the orns to come--before returning his gaze to Blackwind, raising his cannon arm. The positioning of another mechanoid registered in Shockwave's field of vision and forced an immediate, internal strategic recalculation.

"Unnecessary," was Shockwave's simple, one-word reply to Blackwind's taunt.

Discharging the weapon would prove to be a wasteful expenditure of the new imperator's energy, as Decepticon operative Clutch managed to subdue the subversive Decepticon in a manner that would leave all of the new technology she had been integrated with preserved and in tact.

"Declarative: engagement performance exceeded expectations," Shockwave said, recognizing that this little skirmish had the potential, however remote, to tear the ship apart from the inside. Clutch's performance, in particular, was worthy of the strategist's commendation, inasmuch as he ever provided such feedback. Very quickly, however, it was back to the business at hand. "Imperative: secure operative Blackwind within the primary examination theater. Knockout will begin preliminary analysis of the shell technology."

Though Shockwave had seen both the value of analyzing the new technology himself as well as removing Blackwind as a threat to his command, she had not yet taken actions that were so illogical that they warranted termination at this time. Preserving present resources was still a high priority within Shockwave's internal directive list. But there were still other matters at hand that needed to be addressed. The refinement of the remaining Ore-13 and the implementation of the mechaforming technology still took precedence over anything else.

"Declarative--I will expedite the refinement process. Upon completion, each of you will receive a complete recharge with the ultra energon compound. I am 94.678% certain that you each will find its effects exceed your expectations--as it has mine. The mechaforming technology will be placed within the adjoining bay."

His utilization of that technology here and now would depend much on how effectively the Predacons had managed to maintain the Thanatos over the vorns. As he walked over to the bay adjoining the lab where the ore had been brought and patched himself directly in to the ship, he opened a link with Soundwave.

>>"Shockwave to Soundwave--imperative: commence lockdown of the bounce chamber. No operatives board or disembark without direct authorization."<<

As the little spectacle before Skullcruncher began to unfold, the green and maroon warrior found himself being strangely fixated on the fluid movements of Blackwind. The carapace-clad femme was moving with purpose and far more efficiently than back in the underground tunnels of Cybertron. It almost made the large warrior wish for Blackwind to attack him so he could test her increased battle prowess himself. From the corner of his optic, he could see Weirdwolf eyeing Blackwind with clearly similar intent.

It never took place. Instead Skullcruncher heard the door hiss behind him to allow the entrance of yet another Decepticon - who given the remains of CR chamber fluids on his armor had just recently been activated.

"What I miss?"

A question was presented and to one of the least likely Decepticons in the lab to answer it. Annoyed over such disturbance however short it might be, Skullcruncher found himself grinding his teeth together before managing to make a slight nod towards Blackwind and the Decepticons surrounding her.

"Just watch."

And as if Clutch was given a hint to take action at that very moment, the brutish warrior took action against Blackwind and brought the femme down with just two blows. Obviously Clutch had had surprise on his side but witnessing Blackwind taken down with such ease by a warrior very similar to Skullcruncher himself was somehow disappointing. Skullcruncher had expected more out of the new carapace Blackwind was wielding but obviously she would not have fared any better against Skullcruncher's staggering strength.

"Weakling." Skullcruncher snorted and pushed his way through the other Decepticons until he was standing before the fallen femme and the large Decepticon responsible of putting her down. As Clutch seemed content on basking in the glory of his most recent conquest before Shockwave, Skullcruncher knelt down and secured a hold of Blackwind with just one hand. Lifting the unconscious femme up as if she weighted no more than a rag, Skullcruncher carried Blackwind into the primary examination theater and held her on place so that someone more nimble than him could apply restraints on her.

Deathdancer was content to watch the rest of the action after her initial strike began it. The direct approach, however fun, was simply not the tactician's style when fighting personally. She was no warrior. She preferred to giggle at the carnage from the sidelines after a well implemented strategy. Diversionary tactics were simple and easily implemented.

Deathdancer hummed a merry tune as Knockout was knocked to the floor and Clutch took down Blackwind from behind. She liked diversions. They were effective when they were hard to ignore. Like herself. She ignored Shockwave's praise to Clutch and walked over to Blackwind, following as Skullcruncher carried her to the primary examination theatre. She applied the restraints to Blackwind, all the while humming.

After she made sure the restraints were tight, Deathdancer spun on one foot and simply listened to Shockwave. It seemed like they were going to get a boost energy-wise. Could be fun. After the commander had finished speaking, Deathdancer took stock of the room again. There were a few new cons that she didn't recognize from earlier standing about. It seemed that they had entered into a sort of lull for now.

Mal Practice was dumbstruck. Having been working on Contemptor's upgrade in the lab prior to Shockwave's arrival he and his recently weaponised test-subject had stepped to the corner to finish the final adjustments and to allow Shockwave to take the floor, expecting to finally be briefed on what all the security fuss was about.

As soon as Shockwave made his declaration about Blackwind though, Mal's finely-honed survival instincts were to hide, quickly, and in an unacknowledged mirror-manoeuvre to Knockouts (although his was actually successful) he deftly stepped behind the nearest cover, in this case Contemptor, and resorted to peeking around the large mechs elbow to watch the scuffle unfold. A new femcon, freshly out of the CR chamber it would appear, was the first to act and Deathdancer's nimble assault served as a suitable distraction for the heavies to finish the job as Clutch and then Skullcruncher left Blackwind in a crumpled heap. "Looks like the boss was right... again." he thought, reluctantly.

Contemptor had reacted quickly enough and was wielding his brand new guns in a flash, but thought better of getting involved straight away. There were other mechs between he and the target just as capable of subduing her, but he did act on his urge to step forward in support of Shockwave as Blackwind made her ill-conceived threats on the commander, whilst out of the corner of his optic he saw Mal hurriedly shuffle to the side to remain in cover. Contemptor caught Skillcruncher's eye and nodded his support, but had to admit he was a little put out that he clearly wasn't needed and slowly holstered his brand new plasma shotguns muttering that this would have been a great way to break them in... Resisting the urge to put the boot in on the hog-tied Seeker out of spite he thought better of it, he was a warrior and not a thug, so instead he grabbed Mal by the shoulder and dragged him over.
"Pay attention to the Commander, Old Man" he said to the grizzled medic, "I need you to translate what's said afterwards..."

Mal Practice couldn't respond, he currently wasn't capable of it... he was doubled over laughing at Knockout being used as a bludgeoning weapon by Blackwind. Recalling the brief conversation they had in the CR chamber a few hours before and Knockout's curt dismissal of Mal's attempts to greet him, along with the shiny mech's obsession with his finish, he eyed the numerous dents and scratches in the stunned mechanic and just laughed harder, almost unable to control himself.
He soon sobered up when he finally processed what Shockwave had previously announced. Keeping his thoughts to himself, the schemer in him had already taken over..."Woah... a new form of energy? Mechaforming Tech? So that will explain why the boss was so keen to side with him then, Psych had always said; long term survival tip #1 - always take the side of science. Heh, maybe the midgets actually right for a change..?
He could feel Contemptor's eyes boring into his hood and looked up at him giving him an 'Ill tell you later' expression and resumed listening to Shockwave as he strode around the lab, about to change the pace of this war.

Deathstinger listened to Skullcruncher as he told him to watch the scene. He watched as it appeared to be some sort of fighting going on between fellow cons. Shockwave had ordered Blackwind to be restrained as one of the cons quickly attacked; however, that failed easily. Blackwind was captured thanks to the efforts from Clutch as Knockout wanted another round with her. After the little ruckus was over, Shockwave had announced that he was gonna give us some super energon of some sort. Deathstinger could use some extra energon, after all he was stuck in the stasis for a primes knows how long. He walked up to the group to join in so he can hear more of the details from Shockwave.

Shockwave had been fully expecting an update from Psychout and his crew at any point. Though it was not at the top of his current list of priorities, it was significant enough to warrant his direct attention once it had arrived.

If the infiltration protocols had suffered any damage as a result of Starscream's brazen illogicality in carrying out multiple strikes for limited gains, it seemed as though they were not immediately apparent to Psychout and that would have to suffice for the time being. It was a much simpler task to maintain their cloak of deceit than to repair it once it had been breached. Psychout had indicated a degree of success that--in Shockwave's experience--was never achieved, but it was acceptable nonetheless.

>>"Satisfactory. Imperative: identify any personnel present that are ideally positioned for facsimile replacement process and initiate process on-site. Declarative: terran natives are operating too close to the remnants of a full-scale Decepticon fortress. Any breach of the infiltration protocols is not to be allowed at this stage. All present Decepticon operatives--confirmed. Advise further upon objective completion. End transmission."<<

Shockwave knew that Psychout, above any of the other operatives stationed there, would understand Shockwave's use of the term "positioning". With the humans getting as close as they were, they would need to increase the amount of facsimiles that were operating in government and private institutions around the world. From the initial intelligence that Shockwave had already received about this location and its high degree of human activity, there was a significant probability that both government and business officials of high rank would be present. Officials ideally suited to be detained and replaced with a facsimile. It was one tool amongst many that they would employ in order to keep the phases progressing at the Decepticons' chosen pace.

With planetside business addressed, Shockwave returned his attention to the laboratory itself. With Skullcruncher and others nearby, Shockwave was confidant that Blackwind's prone form would be waiting for him and would even allow Knockout to acquire some preliminary data regarding the shell. The Decepticon might wish to satisfy other curiosities, and Shockwave was inclined to allow him, as they might satisfy some of his own as well. In any case, he would join him very shortly.

Shockwave himself approached the large deposit of Ore-13 that had already been moved in to position near the requisite refining equipment. He began entering in the protocols and commands he had created initially to convert the ore into the ultra energon compound. With the protocols entered, he then secured them away from prying optics and motioned for Deathstinger, Deathdancer and others nearby to begin feeding the ore in to the refining unit.

"Imperative--operative Mal Practice will oversee the conversion process. Do not allow the intake levels to exceed 80% at any one time--otherwise there is a potential risk for system overload."

During his initial trials, Shockwave had achieved his satisfactory results by infusing the ultra energon in to Cybertronian systems either gradually or in small doses. He theorized that it would be similarly wise to breakdown and reshape the core structure of the Ore-13 in a similarly gradual fashion.

Laboratory – Primary Examination Theater

“That miserable glitch.”

Knockout stomped the short distance from the main laboratory to the examination theater where the object of his bane was now located. For her sake she had better not have scratch my finish or this exam will spiral into a very painful torture session. A veiled silent threat. He already sensed his gorgeous exterior was marred in a way he didn't care to dwell on.

Coming to stop next to the slab the encased femme was strapped to Knockout let out a low guttural growl. With his optics still boring into the prone Decepticon restrained on the table in front of him the mechanic ground out only one order.

“Out!”

His attention still focused he reached out instinctively and grabbed a hold of Clutch’s arm, his grip like a vice. He needed the mech with him if nothing more than security in case Blackwind woke up and the restraints failed to hold her in place. And really what better mech to perform that function than his own assistant. Besides, Clutch was familiar enough with transformer anatomy that he would be of use if something unfortunate did occur.

“You’re staying. Fetch me my tools. We have an exam to perform.”

Knockout freed his friend from his hold and brought both hands together…rubbing then greedily.

“Oh, and Clutch? I believe I’ll need a bit of body work once our work is completed. Our little sleeping beauty did a number on my finish.”

The statement would not go unnoticed. It went like clockwork for the two. Knockout gets scratched…Clutch is there to help get his finish back to its pristine condition. A dent, Clutch is there to remove it. Scuffed…out comes the buffer. It never failed.

Mal missed most of what Shockwave said whilst everyone was crowding around. Having recovered from his bout of mirth he had eyed the rooms newest occupants, sizing them up for component value against the cost of his planned retirement once quarter-pint had finished his work on the mudball, and it was only the mention of his name that snapped him back into the present.

"Huh? Well of course it will be me, no one else here is even remotely qualified! ...Uh, Sir!" He replied, narrowly avoiding his usual gruff tone and substituting it with for mild indignation at there being a hint of doubt. He then panicked for a micro second until he worked out what was he had just agreed to and grinned behind his faceplate, but his eyes betrayed his glee, the midget would love this he thought, and he turned to the crowded room full of optics that, in his mind at least, all seemed to be focused on him. He got to work fast and began to evaluate the aspirants cammed into the Lab in turn for his first test subject - which always the most fun. Nope, nope, too big, nope, definitely not, Skullcruncher... already off his nipplenuts on the stuff and doesn't need any more yet, don't like her face, he owes me money, nope... AHA!! His gaze fell on the gap where Knockout had been laying previously, which was now occupied by Deathdealer and Deathstinger; two similarly-named 'con's that couldn't possibly have been any more different if they tried. Newbies! Always good for test subjects...

He pointed a finger at the two newest arrivals. "You and you. One of you will be my test subject, the other one... well, we'll see."

"Which one of you wants it the most?"

Deathdancer was happy to shovel the ore into the refining unit. For approximately 30 astroseconds. She began to fidget in her work. She was bored. Bored. Bored, bored, bored! Such a shame she hadn't thought to learn some medical skills. Being a mad scientist seemed like the only way to do anything fun around here. She definitely had the mad part. She was just missing the scientist bit. Surely that wasn't too important.

Mal Practice, one of the cons in the room, pointed at herself and another con in the room. Deathdancer's hand shot up immediately after he asked his question. She wasn't exactly sure what "it" was. She tended to tune things out. But she wanted it! She wanted it so badly! Or she didn't. Deathdancer bounced a little and waved her hand at Mal.

"Oh! Oh! Pick me! Pick me! Please pick me!"

Clutch couldn’t help but smile as Shockwave offered him a compliment, or as close as he could come to one. It wasn’t often he heard praise from his commanders, let alone someone as highly placed as Shockwave. He offered a strong and sharp salute to him. “Thank you Lord Shockwave, it’s an honor to serve.” While he didn’t know what infractions Blackwind had committed to deserve her punishment he remained steadfast in his loyalty to Decepticon high command.

The bulky Decepticon moved to pick up the traitorous femme only to find Skullcruncher had beaten him to the punch. He grudgingly allowed the other warrior to carry her over to the table. He was slightly annoyed that the other Con had butted in, but he wasn’t doing anything wrong really so he let it go. He followed Knockout over to the table. He paused as he heard Shockwave mention something about some sort of new energon. Hopefully that meant he would get the chance to actually use some energon, preferably fighting some Autobots.

Clutch wasn’t surprised in the least that he was ‘allowed’ to stay and fetch Knockout’s tools. It was pretty much how things always worked between them. He respected Knockout’s technical expertise, even if he was a bit annoying and condescending about it. Despite his attitude he knew that Knockout needed him, and he was always willing to do what it took to help the Decepticon cause. He began rummaging through a cabinet looking for his tools when Knockout mentioned needing some body work as well. He let out a sigh and grabbed an industrial buffer along with the tool set and brought them back to his partner.

Skullcruncher was not too thrilled over Knockout's temper tantrum. Or rather the mechanic's out of place behavior towards the other Decepticons in the laboratory. Hadn't Shockwave been present in the lab, Knockout would certainly have faced consequences more dire than a mere gesture indicating throat being slit for his audacity of barking orders at someone as dangerous as Skullcruncher was. He had thrashed far more imposing Decepticons for less in the past. Perhaps the fool would make the same mistake again in the future, somewhere away from the watchful optical sensor of Shockwave. Skullcruncher certainly hoped for a chance to smash Knockout face first against a reinforced wall of military grade titanium plating.

To make the turn of events even more baffling was the fact that Knockout was issuing a number of insulting tasks for a warrior of Clutch's caliber. And Clutch obeyed - as if the blue and grey warrior was nothing more than a mere errand bot for the vain Decepticon mechanic. There were no questions asked but the disapproving glare Skullcruncher threw at Clutch was clearly a sign of the bulky Decepticon warrior losing some of the respect he had earned in Skullcruncher's eyes by bringing Blackwind down with little effort.

Frustrated over having no opportunity to let loose his growing anger, Skullcruncher began moving away from the Primary Examination Theater with a scowl full of disdain and razor sharp teeth etched on his face. Shockwave had better have something else for him to do than just carrying his luggage around the Thanatos. There was only so much of that the hulking Decepticon could handle right now without steamrolling over some poor chap who happened to get on his way.

Deathstinger watched as Mal began to pick which one would try the new energon that Lord Shockwave had created. It was really weird that Megatron wasn't on the ship, but given how that Shockwave gave his speech about being in command, it appeared that Megatron was no more. Though, he didn't know if it were true or not, but anything can be a possibility now. Suddenly a cybertronian begins jumping up and down next to him like a little bot. Most likely is the other cybertronian that Mal picked to test the energon as well. Hey look a volunteer, glad she insist on going as he wanted to witness the effects himself. He stepped out to speak for her since she was getting to be annoying.

"Yes, pick her so she can be all powered up. I'm sure you'll do it to keep her quiet, am I right?"

Soundwave's brief and efficient transmission confirmed for Shockwave that everything was currently well in control on the bridge of the ship, thus allowing him to continue focusing on the critical functions that needed his ongoing attention here in the laboratory of the Thanatos. His only reply was a quick, non-verbal code indicating that the transmission had been received and that it was acceptable.

For the moment, Shcowave's attention was focused on the energon repository that was being created--a storehouse for the ultra-energon. Mal-Practice and the others, as ordered, were following his orders and converting the Ore-13 in a graduated, methodical manner. The Thanatos' internal readings confirmed that it was having no trouble, at this point, storing the new form of energon they were currently manufacturing.

Still patched in, Shockwave routed another dose of ultra-energon in to his systems, filling his reserves to around 86%. To be filled, even less than capacity, with an energon of this type initiated a series of sensations unlike anything that the cycloptic strategist had ever experienced before. Truly this would be the future of the Decepticon empire and, perhaps, an end to the ongoing war. And, more importantly, a key to ensuring their ongoing survival as a species.

"Imperative: continue as directed. Alert me of any changes, regardless of perceived significance," Shockwave commanded, detaching himself from the repository and turning to approach the operating theater that currently housed Blackwind.

"Interrogative: what has been learned of this carapace technology thus far?" Shockwave asked as he closed the distance between himself and Knockout and began to examine the prone form of Blackwind more directly.
