At the sound of the door hissing open, Blackwind already knew just who the new occupant would be. It had taken Thunderwing a few breems before he finally arrived to the cargo bay. She hadn't expected that it would take that long, but she was not worried.

Blackwind had been squatting next to the secured equipment, but she never turned her attention away even when the scientist moved deeper in to the storage facility. That is until he finally spoke. With his first words a broad smile spread over her face as she rose to face him. His compliment did not go unnoticed as she stepped in closer to the much larger Decepticon.

Her smile broadened before she extended one clawed servo and ran it gently across his carapace’s chest. Afterwords he moved past him leaving only the sensation of her touch behind.

“Without your diligent work on my carapace I certainly would not be around to thank you. Both for it and for my continued existence.”

She came to a stop at the cargo bay’s computer terminal where she took a seat. Blackwind leaned back slowly as she took in Thunderwing’s work with unlatching the equipment he had brought on board. She listened to his query concerning any hope of actually gaining any other Decepticon’s allegiance, but she never answered, at least not right away.

“It would seem that our resident cyclops has gained a few followers. However, there are two who seem to be, as of now, unmoved by any attempts from Shockwave’s more loyal advocates. I could, perhaps convince them to consider our – your – position within the ranks, and your capability of leading us to a final victory over the Autobots…just as Lord Megatron would have wanted.”

Blackwind averted her optics as she spoke the name of the former Lord of the Decepticons. She had been loyal to him, possibly more so than Soundwave himself. A moment passed before she looked back up and laid her optics back on the scientist in front of her. He was powerful, nearly on par with Megatron, but still others within the ranks did not see it as so. Perhaps there was still hope to sway the two ‘Cons still in the medical bay.

Her interest was piqued at the mention of possible associates on the planet below the warship. He was certainly not one to back down from a fight, not even when it concerned Shockwave. It was a quality she had not seen since…

Blackwind’s thoughts were brought back to the present with his mention of Razorclaw’s and Onslaught’s possible turning.

“Have you any ideas on just how to approach the Predacons and Combaticons? From my own personal observations they seem to be, perhaps, too independent. Do you believe they can be swayed, and if so, how? We certainly cannot contact them from here.”

Blackwind rose from the seat she had taken behind the desk after considering their position, and made her way around it to stand in front of Thunderwing. The femme gently took hold of his elbow and guided him back to his full standing position. After a moment of deep thought, Blackwind’s optics met his.

“I will go to the surface. I will speak with Razorclaw, Onslaught and if need be Scrapper.”

Psychout dodged Ravage with a snarl as he and Laserbeak left the bridge. Soundwave is here? Ugh. Last thing I need. I know what you are capable of Soundwave, you’ll get nothing from my mind... He stepped inside the bridge and was a little taken aback by Shadowing’s reverent salute, there had been none of that back in the labs back on Cybertron, but he followed the new protocol, after all Shockwave was the leader now.

He listened and took in the download that Shockwave had granted him. OK, now this makes a bit more sense. Another advantage to being a cassette was that his data storage capabilities were immense, and he filed this away, knowing now what had happened before he had been woken up. There were still gaps in the information given that he needed filling, but he knew not to push his luck too far, especially with Soundwave present – you never knew who’s side he was on, and after their previous working partnership had been 'dissolved' he could be pretty certain it wasn’t his.

Whilst he was processing the data, Shadowing had asked a pertinent question. Starscream was never going to be the sole pretender to Megatrons vacant throne, knowing who else mistakenly thought they had a chance would be advantageous, he already had his suspicions regarding Thunderwing, but who else was out there..? He silently thanked Shadow for asking the question so he didn't have to.

He also briefly nodded in comradely acknowledgement toward Darkwing and Dreadwind. They looked in a bit of a state, but he thought better of asking why. He’d find out soon enough if he needed to and as it looked like he was about to be posted to Earth it barely mattered.

He returned to the matter in hand, looked up to address his Master and chose his words carefully. "Thank you Commander, upon review I agree with your analysis. Starscream is not, and has never been, fit for command and it was his treasonous actions that prompted me to request your time. From the information you have sent me, I would extrapolate that any initial attempt to locate the Ultrax under current Infiltration Protocols is best done through terran means. With access to Sol-3's technology, limited as it is, locating any information pertaining to any native reports of the Ultrax via its orbital surveillance technology would be simple. It is difficult to imagine that a population this dense with such extensive satellite coverage would miss a large space vessel entering its upper atmosphere let alone landing somewhere on the planet without a sighting of some kind, but we are talking about primitives here, these creatures are capable of incredible ignorance.
"That is, assuming this hasn't already been attempted?"

He looked sidelong at Soundwave for his reaction to this suggestion. Well, how did I do?? If he knew his old boss, this would have already been done as hacking a bunch of low-tech satellite signals was hardly specialist work, so he had to assume that this had already come up as blank - especially as, from all recorded accounts, these organics couldn’t find their own exhaust ports with a GPS. It warmed him slightly inside to know that Soundwave may have failed in something...

"Your secondary objective is far more straightforward, Commander, as it is my primary function to control these aspects of war. As the first and second levels of the infiltration protocols have been activated successfully, with your permission I will access the facsimiles inserted into the Sol-3 military communications and civilian media, establish what news and information they have received based on the characteristics of Cybertronian's behavior and ensure that anything that could break our cover is suppressed. This will also allow us to control the flow of any future information should the rebels, or indeed the Autobots, break silence."

"Is this an acceptable strategy, Commander?"

"If you do not wish to be treated as a Protoform, do not act like one then." Mal Practice's curt response to Contemptor was in his usual direct and impatient tone, but that was the only tone he had.

"You are very similar to Psychout, you use a lot of words to say very little, very inefficient when there is work to do. I do hope your empty-headed friend is more economical with his vocal processor."

He watched, unmoved, as Contemptor began to pull the heads off the medical drones, he'd done far worse in his time but seeing it done that clumsily made him wince, and chuckled darkly at the suggestion to use the brain module from one of them. "My exemplary reputation as a surgeon is for a reason. My abilities match that of even Shockwave himself, and if I wanted to I could fix your friend's head with a toaster. These drone parts are inferior, fragile, lack effective conductivity and will degrade in around 5o thousand cycles, of course I can do it. If you really want me to complete the procedure using that drones cranial module, I can begin immediately."

He knew a repair of this kind wouldn't last. The drone's materials weren't designed for combat models and another head injury could be catastrophic as there would be almost no armour plating over Vindicators personality sub-routines, but with the reprogrammed Cerebro-shell and a slight alteration to the wiring it was as simple job. He weighed up his options ...I'm not getting paid, and the difference between doing a good job for nothing and a doing half-aft job for nothing is nothing. I'll be sure I charge for the next set of repairs... and shrugged non-committally.

He flicked the re-programmed Cerebro-shell onto the table with his thumb and turned to the slumbering Vindicator, igniting his built-in laser-scalpel. Without looking he held out his hand for the drone cranium.

"You want him fixed with a toaster, I'll fix him with a toaster..."

Soundwave glared at Pyschout in annoyance. He didn’t like the other Decepticon. There was too much overlap in their functions for his liking. Their shared history played no small part in that dislike either. He would certainly observe his comings and goings, in and out of the computer systems. If he could find a way to remove the former minion he would take the steps necessary to do so.

The communication’s expert turned back to his console, manipulating the controls to project a hologram of the planet below in front of them all. He had been running scans of the natives frequencies for evidence of the Ultrax while trying to hail Razorclaw. The Decepticon accessed the results now. “Human orbital observation capability: primitive, focused primarily on land based military installations as indicated.” Several swaths and spots of the holographic globe turned red. “Reported possible sightings of Ultrax over communication waves: minimal. Ultrax landing site: likely isolated, lightly inhabited area. Human scanning abilities minimal in these areas.” Several sections of the hologram began glowing blue, including most of the oceans, both ice caps and the central areas of Africa and South America. “Water, ice and dense foliage: possibly concealing Ultrax in these areas. Lack of seismic evidence of land impact likely eliminates a ground landing. Polar and oceanic regions remain most likely landing spots for Ultrax. Area left to hide the Ultrax: considerable.”

Thunderwing continue to inspect and unpack his lab equipment as Blackwind spoke. His mind was a flurry of thoughts as he considered how to consolidate a support base while dealing with Shockwave and his thirst for knowledge of the carapace technology. They were going to have to move forward carefully, and preferably in secret, both difficult tasks considering they were on board a vessel under the control of both Shockwave and Soundwave.

“Ideally we could approach Onslaught and Razorclaw in private, perhaps even away from their teams and, ideally, not on board this vessel. Unfortunately the Predacons have disappeared with the Ultrax which could mean they’ve sided with Starscream, which seems unlikely, or they have struck out on their own. While that’s a possibility they would be giving up the Thanatos in the process and that would be a rather large step down for them. That leaves us in the unknown with their status.”

“Onslaught from what I can tell is down there wherever the Constructicons are based. We might have an opportunity there depending on what Scrapper’s team is thinking and what other Decepticons are accompanying them. Both commanders seem reasonable. Perhaps by offering myself as a rational alternative to either Starscream or Shockwave I can be found acceptable. A third alternative to avert a civil war, and someone who would be more open to listening to what his sub-commanders have to say. Treating them as something more then pieces on a game board or drones may go a long way into winning some loyalty from them.”

Thunderwing stood as Blackwind guided him back up. He looked into her optics as she made her declaration He was quick to reply. “No, I can’t risk losing you.” There was a brief pause after he said that as he moved to get his emotions in check. The outburst was a bit embarrassing, if telling, for him. “We cannot risk ourselves too carelessly now, not when so much is at stake. Unfortunately it appears some risk will be necessary. I cannot leave the ship with Shockwave demanding details of my technology.”

He paused in thought for a moment. “I assume further Decepticons will be sent down to either search for the Ultrax or make further contact with the Constructicon team. We must make sure you are a part of either of those teams. I doubt Shockwave himself will go down, but you can be assured some of his loyalists will be. You will have to tread carefully, I would not want to see you discovered or harmed.” He gently brushed the back of his hand over one of her cheeks before stepping back to his lab equipment.

“In the meantime I will have to figure out how much of my project data to share with him. Giving him only a portion will work for only a brief time. Of course in return he will offer me access to some of his own work, which may prove quite worthwhile. The question then might become which of us can learn and exploit the other’s work first.”

Contemptor looked directly at Mal Practice as he spoke to him in such a churlish manner. The entire wording and tone used in the admonishment was like a master scolding a pupil, and the only mech he could take it from was currently comatose and had the contents of his head open for examination, and inside Contemptor felt his own spark flare up, and as such, his temper - usually kept in check - boiled over.

One of Contemptor's large hands closed around a broken head and slowly crushed it, the bending metal folding and colapsing as the circuts inside popped, small sparks flying from the broken internals as Contemptor's anger surfaced.

He threw the broken drone's head to the ground with a venomous force that the crumpled head more, and placed a dent in the ground, and then cleared the space between himself and Mal Practice in three large stomps, and jabbed the sour and bitter medic in the chest, growling lowly as he towered over the doctor.

"Pin your audio receptors open and listen to me Mal!" Contemptor spat "I do not appreciate your churlish demeanour, nor your bullish and flippant regards to my outlook on existance!" The burning glare coming from deep inside his purple optics, was reflected back in Mal Practice's own optics. "You might be one of the best medics that the decepticon empire has ever seen. I care not that you come from the same manufacturing cycle as that emotionless one-eyed calculator, but do not test me!"

The truck-former shoved the drone's head into Mal Practice's hands and glared at the medic.

"If you want a toaster you'd better decide what you want on your wafer-boards!" The truck-former's glare made way to mirth as his mouth twisted upwards into a sharkish grin.

"I mean, come on...what's it going to be like having someone wander around and have freshly smelted wafer-boards pop out of their heads?" Contemptor chuckled and made a popping motion with his hands as he continued to poke at Mal Practice before he turned back to the table of broken parts.

"You know Mal, if you are such a super genius then why not modify such 'primitive' materials into something more superior!" Contemptor gave a wave of his hand over the heaps of scrapped metal. "Surely that we can melt down this heap and use it for a more practical use? Maybe manufacture something interesting?"

He looked at the medic and hovered over his shoulder.

"Watch you don't shock yourself!"

Thunderwing’s outburst did not go unnoticed by the femme Seeker; in fact it caught her slightly off guard. It didn’t stop the seeker as she flashed the scientist a warm smile and stepped in close to him. Slowly she raised her hands and caressed Thunderwing’s cheeks, all the while moving in even closer. Without a word as to her intentions, Blackwind gently pressed her lips to his, her hands moving from the curves of his face down to his neck and continued on until they came to rest on his shoulders.

Their kiss lasted for several moments before she gradually pulled away, a gentle smile gracing her features. She remained in front of him; her arms still resting on his shoulders her optics intently gazing into his own before Blackwind finally addressed the scientist, her voice low and seductive.

“Your concern is very much appreciated, and reciprocated.”

Finally stepping away, but remaining in front of him, Blackwind continued on.

“I too agree that risking ourselves together would be devastating to what we wish to accomplish for the Empire. As much I wish to remain here with you, going down to Earth to ensure that the Decepticons located there know that they have a choice to make, and that Starscream and Shockwave are not their only options, is the top priority now.”

The carapace encased Seeker raised a hand and mirrored his movement with the back of her hand on his own cheek.

“I wish there was another way, for both of us. I only hope that you’ll be successful at holding off Shockwave and his prying while I travel amongst his subordinates.”

The Aerial Coordinator offered him a weak smile before she approached the crate with him and began to move the equipment he needed to be moved to his new lab.

As Shockwave listened to Soundwave, Shadowing and Psychout's various analyses to his current, stated objectives, the Military Operations Commander was also perusing the limited list of mechanoids that were currently available for reactivation aboard the Thanatos--assessing both their functions and any secondary skills they possessed. He calculated that a majority would be of use to the Decepticon cause. There were some, however, whom would be best left in stasis until a better opportunity presented itself. Medics and mechanics of any sort were the priority.

//Designation: Knockout. Weapons: Energon prod, proton beam rifle, duel particle beam cannons. Location: Thanatos cryonic-regeneration chamber Sigma-1. COMMAND: Reactivation.//

"Declarative: Megatron's rule was both extensive and thorough. I calculate a significant probability that there will be multiple challengers to my new imperatorship. Each will have their continued use to the Decepticon empire assessed after their defeat. Current intelligence regarding other active contenders is presently minimal. Once Starscream is captured and put on trial for any culpability he played in Megatron's disappearance, I will coalesce any divided loyalties that remain."

As he continued to consider Soundwave's report, he then addressed Psychout.

"Declarative: Present data regarding facsimile usage is minimal; however, the strategy is acceptable. As I uncover additional mission logs regarding their usage, it will be forwarded to all necessary parties. Current Cybertronian awareness must be thoroughly assessed. I will then decide whether the infiltration stage must be advanced.

"Imperative: you will assemble and oversee a secondary strike team to accomplish said objectives. When the opportunity arises, you will coordinate with Predacon unit commander Razorclaw. Report progress every 1.2 orns to Soundwave and myself directly."

One thing that had become increasingly clear to Shockwave was that Thunderwing was currently an underutilized resource. He also possessed information that he did not seem especially inclined to share willingly. Shockwave was determined to gather it by whatever means necessary, be it willing or not.

>>"Shockwave to Thunderwing--imperative: a secondary infiltration team is being assembled. Purpose: to assess and strengthen all Decepticon resources presently on planet Sol-3. I require a field commander to oversee said operations on the ground. Your function makes you the ideal candidate of those presently aboard this vessel. This supercedes your previous imperatives regarding the carapace technology. More significant priorities exist. If you have the opportunity to utilize said technology in the field, it will provide much of the information I require. I calculate a 98.674% probability that you will select Blackwind as your second in the field. This is acceptable; however, she will remain aboard the Thanatos and oversee the remaining subordinate reactivations and potential assemblage of a tertiary strike force. She will then join you in the field to oversee all operations while I further our work with the cyberforming technology."<<

Starscream's bid for leadership would come to an end as soon as he was found and forced to fight to maintain his position. Thunderwing's new technology, however, would have to be assessed before a similar strategy could take place. And though neither of the two existing candidates would submit to Shockwave's probing willingly, the cycloptic strategist was past the point of that being a consideration, either.

Divide...and conquer.

The femme had been a glitch in his circuitry for long enough. It was time for that glitch to be corrected. Shockwave had no intention of allowing Blackwind to join her latest, most-favored Decepticon any time soon.

Shadowing carefully listened to Shockwave's words as he replied. The answer to his questions was painfully generic, mostly a political statement to all in the room rather than containing any sort of in depth analysis about the other candidates out there. There was a good probability that meant it was something he would need to look into in the near future. Perhaps nearer than he thought if Shockwave's answer to Psychout was any indication.

Shadowing had foreseen that some sort of team would be established to deal with matters at hand however for Psychout to be giving the responsibility to lead that team meant that he would not form part of that unit. The logical conclusion to such a development is that Shockwave had something else in mind for him.

For the moment he simply nodded to his initial declarative and remained silent. He knew Shockwave well enough by now to know he would be given his instruction when the most appropriate time according to logic would dictate.

The doors opened and quickly shut again as a small form entered the room. With the occupants so focused on their work, even yelling at each other, it was easy for the entrance to go unnoticed. The form moved to a shadowy corner, making not a single sound, and disappeared.

Soundwave listened as Shockwave delivered his orders, setting into motion plans of his own. As he expected they were all logical, pushing forward their agenda quickly and efficiently. It was quite the welcome relief from the chaos that had been his brief time aboard the Ultrax. This was how the Decepticons should be run, save for it being Shockwave on the throne instead of Megatron.

Once Shockwave was done issuing orders Soundwave was quick to add additional input. “All command logs retrieved from former Earth base and Ultrax: being uploaded to Thanatos computers now.” He tapped into the systems and began shifting the logs from his personal data storage. “Infiltration protocols on Earth prior to loss of Earth base: in early stages. Some facsimiles were put into place but not fully activated or utilized. All recovered records on them being uploaded to database now. Will begin investigating inhabitants’ knowledge of our presence now. Infiltration protocols: likely broken due to destruction of former base, along with other factors. Earth governments: likely to suppress information from general populace to avoid panic and to maintain knowledge ahead of other governments.”

With that information supplied to Shockwave, Soundwave turned back to his console to commence his work on data gathering. They would all know that he would still be listening to them. He was always listening.

Cargo Bay

Thunderwing was startled by the kiss, but certainly enjoyed it. Once she had pulled away he merely nodded at her next words, collecting his thoughts for a moment as she went back to work. Unfortunately he wasn’t given any time to collect and focus his thoughts before the orders from Shockwave came in. His expression twisted into a grimace as he replied to him.

>>”A logical course of action Commander. I will summon Blackwind and report to the bridge in short order. I take it the team is being selected for me or is already on the ground? Is there a base of operations already selected on the planet, possibly wherever Starscream had the Constructicons working?”<<

He looked over at Blackwind. “The situation has changed, dramatically. I am being ordered to lead a new infiltration team on the planet surface. You are to be my second but remain on the ship to help reactivate additional Decepticons and possibly lead an another team if necessary.” He paused for a moment to let the words sink in. “I do not like this sudden change of orders. Shockwave had been adamant about the carapace technology, until now. He said he would be happy to simply have a report on its usage in the field. I know he wants more information then that.”

Thunderwing let out a sigh. “And that leaves you here, under his thumb, a position I did not relish the thought of for myself and one I know you will despise.” He stepped up to some of his lab equipment, flipping out a small keyboard from the side of one of them. “I will put my equipment on full lockdown, at the very least making it extremely difficult for the databanks to be broken into, if they could be at all. At worst the information will just delete itself before being given out to anyone other then myself.”

Once he was done he looked back up at Blackwind. “The situation isn’t ideal, but we will have to make the best of it for now. We can’t make a move against Shockwave, not when he has stockpiled the ship full of loyalists. Our best hope lies on the planet below and swaying Onslaught, Razorclaw and whatever followers Starscream may have to our side.” He placed a hand on her shoulder. “I know things look bad, but we must be strong, for the Empire, and for each other. I promise you we will be reunited.”

It was the noise that assaulted his sensors first. The irritating drawl of mechs who were loitering about within the medical bay. There was nothing else but the offending, grating cacophony of vocalizations. Any longer and he’d go insane. Finally, finally the door to the CR chamber he had been stored in hissed open. A heavy mist escaped through the small slit at first before it was able to billow out and engulf the chamber within its shroud.

The hazy layer of air gave way to a set of piercing crimson optics. A low groan followed the onlining of his eyes, and after a moment the mechanic stepped from the chamber. He raised his right hand to his cranial unit and gave it a gentle rub. Just how long had he been forced to remain in storage? And why was he returned to active duty now?

And again there was the noise. Narrowing his optics the red and gold mech staggered slightly before he placed his hand on one of the remaining chambers in order to keep form toppling over. His focus moved from the offensive sound of the mechs located in the med bay proper and down to the window of the cylindrical storage device. The annoyed expression melted into a broad smile as he gently patted the glass.

“Well. I can’t possibly perform my duties without my assistant, now can I?”

Knockout moved to the terminal located on the side of the chamber his fingers flying over the keypad as he initiated the reactivation protocols.

“Wakey, wakey. Time to clear this repair bay of the dregs. And you know I can’t do that on my own.”

Mal Practice chuckled at Contemptors outburst, he still knew how to push those buttons, and he could see why Psychout wanted to keep this one onside. He also wasn't sure why he hadn't thought of using a Drone head himself previously, must be getting old Heh, sounding more like that old fool Ratchet every day. Bet he wouldn't be able to do this though with his pathetic 'ethics committee'...

He accepted the Drone head as it was unceremoniously dumped in his hands and, still focusing on Vindicators slumbering form on the bench and not even looking at the head, ripped out its vocaliser, optic array, olfactory network and all other extraneous system components, tossing them over his shoulder into Contemptor's hands.

Cracking his knuckles and rotating his head to loosen the joints in his neck, he balancd the drone skull on the end of his finger like a basketball, spun it on the tip and stared at it for a second. "If you want to watch" He said gruffly but patiently to Contemptor, leaning in a bit too close by his shoulder, "stand to the side and do not get in the way. You may also want to record this - an act of genius such as you are about to witness is a once in a megacycle experience..." and with a wave of his forearm accessed his internal circuits and generated a forcefield of deep translucent red that encompassed the top half of his patient, protecting the spark core and open cranial module from contamination.

Then, without another word, he began.

Skilled hands moving like a world class pianist, he barely even looked as he allowed his millennia of expertise to wash over him, Vindicator no longer just a mere patient, now an instrument, a blank easel for the artist to create their greatest of masterpieces. Sliding out the cranial casing and sending the empty skull over his shoulder after its other unwanted components, his fingers moved at a blur precisely wiring the modified cerebro-shell into the blank canvas before him, re-building connections and neural pathways with the same skill as a master would write his finest concerto.

Mal had never been any good at warfare, politics or socialising but the internal circuitry of another Cybertronian to him was like a timeless novel, a composition of the finest classical music, the recipe for the finest cuisine the imagination can concoct...

His fingers darted deftly around the open cranial cavity, lights flickered in Vindicators eyes and then blinked out as connections were tested and couplings were completed. To those around him this would seem like more than just a routine operation, but to Mal Practice this was a symphony so exquisite that the outside world barely registered any more, there was only the orchestra he was conducting and the music of the electrical pulse of the patient. This was what he lived for.

Dancing to his own tune, he produced a minuscule claw from an internal cavity, and reaching his arm through the force shield as if it wasn't there, he slid open a compartment in his patients chestplate and, as delicately as the insect caresses the nectar from the flower, he connected the patients newly-fitted personality module up to its spark and initiated the upload. Vindicators eyes flickered violently he relived a lifetime of experiences in an instant, his peaks and falls, his victories and his sorrows, his loves and losses - everything that made him who he was, returned to him in a fraction of a micro-cycle.

As soon as it had begun, it was over. With the greatest of care and a rock-steady hand, Mal retracted his claw from the spark chamber, closed his instruments head and reluctantly brought himself back into the present. He didn't need instruments to tell him that the procedure was a success, he just knew - he always just knew - but for the benefit of his audience of one he indicated the panel on the wall above Vindicators head, and the row of meaningless bars on it listing the patients lifesigns, all reading green.

"That went better than expected." The entire procedure had taken less than 5 minutes. He almost sounded cheerful knowing that this job may be one of his finest yet - the drone's cranial circuitry was of exceptional quality meaning that Vindicator should be perfectly returned to whatever his old self was like - he hoped he had a better sense of humour than his partner here. He retracted a finger and a injection torch replaced it. He pressed it against the patients temple for a few seconds and with a flourish dropped the forcefield and engaged the tables restraints just in case - returning memories had a tendency to cause minor episodes.

"He should come round any second now. You ready for this? It may be a bit of a shock..."
All eyes were now on Vindicator...

The CR chamber, a larger model designed to hold Decepticons of greater bulk and height, slid open with a hiss and a wave of mist. There was a pause as the occupant awakened. A large hand gripped the edge of the chamber, helping to pull out the Decepticon inside. There was a heavy thud as one foot and then the other stepped on to the deck. With a clacking and clicking of metal Clutch stretched and flexed his arms and hands, loosening up the joints in them.

“I hate traveling in those slagging things, always wake up stiff.” The Decepticon took a look around, a frown on his face. He remembered being put in the chamber for awakening once there was an assignment for him, of, more accurately, them. Knockout was already awake and patiently waiting for him. The idea had been to save up on fuel by not having some many Decepticons active at once. It made some sense and Clutch wasn’t one to argue with command. Still, it wasn’t a decision he was thrilled with.

He looked over at the smaller form of Knockout. “I guess we’ve got a mission then. So where the slag are we and,” his right hand withdrew into his arm, replaced by a massive hammer head, “when do I get to smash some bots?”

"He should come round any second now. You ready for this? It may be a bit of a shock..."
All eyes were now on Vindicator as Mal Practice had finally closed over his head casing, sealing back up the delicate internals that made a Cybertronian unique amongst his or her brothers. Contemptor - whilst no doubt enjoying the fact he was winding up Mal Practice, and at the same time learning more about the resident senior medical officer (and for that matter, he ended up respecting him more). The large black, silver and purple truck-former watched inently, trying to follow the blur that was Mal Practice's hands as he worked possessed to repair the faults and power-surging connectors inside Vindicator's head.

Contemptor looked over at Mal Practice, the usual sardonic grin replaced with a set stern visage as the pair stood back waiting to see what the outcome of the operation would be, and as they waited, Contemptor folded his arms over his chest and looked down at his mentor, looking to see if there was any life in those uncomfortably vacant amber optics, and when it came to matters of patience, Contemptor was not one to be kept waiting. He wasn't one of the more impatient mechanoids in the decepticon legion, but when it came to certain things, or events that put Contemptor into an uncomfortable position, then his patience became a short fuse.

A short, volatile fuse!

Contemptor slammed his hands down onto the side of the slab, just next to Vindicator's head as his short fuse ran out. And much to the dismay of the truck-former, the massive golden hand of Vindicator shot up and grabbed him around the jaw.

It was followed by the heavy bass rumble of the seige master's vocal processors, more tinged with the gravelly grit from before. Better then, than the over-bearing & over-preaching tones that he had used before.

"You're being a slaggin' nuisance Con' and yer making to much frakkin damned noise!"

The larger mechanoid sat up on the berth and glared at his ward, before shoving him back with, what the bigger mechanoid regarded, a gentle push. Contemptor barrelled backwards, and slipped on one of the wrecked drone's. He tumbled to the ground in an unceremonius heap, his energon axe spilling away accross the floor of the med bay as Vindicator stood to his full height, his rotators and gears whirring as if he was freshly off the assembly line.

He flexed his hands and rotated his shoulders slowly before testing his neck.

"Hmm..for what it's worth...that irksome buzz in my rotators are gone, and it feels like everything has been given a well needed tune-up." Vindicator's optics let off a strong glow as he turned to the smaller Mal Practice, and took a moment fro his internal databanks to fully fire up. He quietly noted that hs systems were operating at 100% efficiency.

"Mal Practice...as I function and process!" The large decepticon grinned, giving the sourfaced medic a hearty slap on his shoulder. "...I trust that you are the reason that I'm back to peak efficiency once again? Excellent!"

He didn't let the medic answer before he turned his glaring amber optics upon Contemptor as the truckformer took to his feet, a smile on his face.
Vindicator however, had a more meaningful scowl on his as his ward bounded forward, a little too giddy for his own good.

"Damn big Vin! I knew that Mal Practice was the best, but...by Primus I really had my doubts and..."

"Contemptor..." Vindicator said in a sharp manner as he clenched his fist at his side before lashing out.

There was a dull clang as the large tank-former slugged the truck-former in the mouthplate hard, for if Contemptor had thought that the blow he struck to put Vindicator out for Mal to do his work had been forgotten, then he was sadly mistaken as Vindicator's fist hit with all the accuracy of a boxer looking to knock out his opponent quickly, as Contemptor fell ungracefully and bounced over towards the far wall, stopping in the vicinity of Knockout and Clutch.

The truckformer sat up and rubbed his jaw slowly, one optic narrowed as he glared over at his friend and mentor. He even registered the presence of the newly activated pair in the med bay as he picked himself up slowly, his jaw mechanisim hurting like the pits on the left side where Vindicator had slugged him one.

"urrghhh..Hi guys...ok.. I would ask what that was for Vin but..."

"...But you won't bother, unless you want a matching set Con!" Vindicator pointed an acusatory finger in his direction "...You've gotten away with a lot of smart mouthing towards me since I was submerged head first in that damned pool of lava when the base came down around my head and..." there was a surge of energy through Vindicator's head as a headache took him over. "...dammit..." He rubbed the spots at the side of his head, roughly where the temples on a human would be.

The pain subsided quickly as he stood up fully again and ran through a series of weapon checks and internal system diagnostics, and everything turned up green on his HUD as Contemptor made his way to collect his energon axe from the other end of the Med Bay.

Blackwind had left the large mech right after she had broken off her kiss, she never even looked back to catch his expression. Instead the femme returned to her work rummaging through the storage container trying to set the equipment that belonged together in order. A miniscule smile formed on her face as she worked.

Unfortunately she was not privy to anything the communique Thunderwing had received form Shockwave. She was only made aware of its contents when her colleague finally spoke. The smile melted into first a surprised expression and then into something akin to rage. Instead of voicing her ire for the Commander, Blackwind remained quiet, her back still facing Thunderwing.

“I see.”

Her voice was low, almost inaudible. Knowing that she would be separated from him and left here where Shockwave seemed to reign supreme was almost sparkbreaking. Blackwind lowered her head as she started to go back to work, her thoughts on the scientist and his upcoming mission on the planet’s surface. Why would Shockwave suddenly change his course of action? The thought faded form her processor. Hers was not to ask why, but to find out why. Therefore, while Thunderwing was away she would do what she did best…gather information.

She then noticed that he moved to one of the larger pieces of equipment but she never turned to look at him. He then explained just what he was up to, hoping that his research would remain just that…his. She really couldn’t blame him. He had spent several thousand vorns perfecting the process. The time and effort was well worth the precautions.

“Good.”

Blackwind remained next to the storage container while he looked to her; relaying to her just what he had in mind while he was on the planet. Only when he placed his hand on her shoulder did she finally look at him. Her optics reflected the pain and fear of him leaving and being left alone. But she would not dissuade him from what he was ordered to do.

She offered him a very slight smile as she placed her hand over his that was resting on her shoulder.

“Agreed. The Empire is what’s important right now and so are you.”

Her smile grew ever so slightly as she gave his hand a gentle squeeze.

“I am holding you to that promise.”

Knockout took up a position against the wall opposite the chamber Clutch would emerge from. He knew his assistant well enough to know that he would not be gentle when he finally emerged from his forced sleep. The mechanic was posed with his arms crossed over his chest and his legs crossed the ankles. Although he seemed relaxed he was anything but. He was awakened in order to fortify the masses, something he would rather not do; especially if his finish and looks were at stake.

The nonchalant expression on his face as he closely examined his sharpened digits was replaced by a subdued smirk.

“Well, welcome back to the land of moving parts.”

Knockout pushed off the wall carefully and headed slowly toward Clutch. His face twisted into a devious smile as he took in what his assistant had said.

“It would seem mein Freund. But to what effect I know not.”

As Clutch replaced his hand with the hammer, Knockout simply walked past waving the larger ‘Con off.

“Oh please. Put that thing away before you hurt yourself or worse dent or scratch my finish. Now come…”

The crimson and gold mechanic stopped short and pulled back quickly as some mech appeared out of nowhere. A deep sneer formed on Knockout’s face as he took in the sight of Contemptor. He had never seen this ‘Con before in his life.

“And who the slag are you, dolt?”

Soundwave's information regarding the present status and usage of facsimile technology on Sol-3 was some of the most relevant that Shockwave had encountered thus far. Previously, the Cybertronians' status on this planet had likely been so well-hidden that their use had been largely unnecessary. That was certainly not the situation now.

"Satisfactory," Shockwave said, his typical response to any circumstance that met his expectations, regardless of degree. Soundwave's report had been exceedingly so.

"Imperative: oversee full-activation and integration of facsimile technology, from this position," Shockwave began, looking at Soundwave. The intelligence officer was going to have no better opportunity to prove himself a useful second to the new Decepticon imperator. The situation that Starscream had forced them in to would require intelligence, first and foremost. Resources would be second and brute force a considerably distant third, in terms of Shockwave's evaluation of their present circumstances. "Declarative: we must find out whether or not there is anything regarding the present infiltration protocols that can be salvaged from Starscream's erroneous strategic execution, or if we must proceed forward at an accelerated rate."

Shockwave then acknowledged his internal comm with Thunderwing.

>>"Affirmative. Primary strike team commander--Razorclaw. Objective--reintegration of vessel Ultrax in to overall capital stockpile and capture of Seeker Commander Starscream. Secondary strike team commander--Psychout. Objective: human intelligence analysis...infiltration protocol maintenance and repair. Tertiary strike team commander--Blackwind. Objective--employ at your discretion, once present duties are complete. Follow standard Decepticon reporting protocols. In regards to stated query--Soundwave will forward all present information regarding the Constructicons' most recent assignment. Analyze its progress and suitability. Advise accordingly."<<

The strike team commanders were titular titles, at best. Thunderwing would provide direct oversight for their tangible offensive and defensive operations, while Soundwave would serve the same function for those operations which were very much intangible. It would allow Shockwave to do what he did best, organize and execute.

Information regarding the base of operations for the Decepticons who were planetside was minimal, but that was--logically--due to two factors: one, their primary base of operations had been destroyed, coinciding with the disappearance/destruction of Megatron. Two, any progress made on a new base would be minimal at this stage. It would be useful, but it was far from Shockwave's primary focus, at present. He would be able to accomplish much from this elevated position.

>>"Declarative: once operations on Sol-3 have shifted to your management, I will turn my activities toward full analysis and application of the cyberforming technology."<<

In that, there was no deceit. Use of the cyberforming technology had been one of Megatron's strategies that Shockwave strongly agreed with. Regardless of the powerful Decepticon's present status, the cycloptic strategist was keen to move that strategy forward, in addition to the refinement of additional ultra-concentrate energon from the ore-13 stockpile.

And if Thunderwing possessed any remaining predilection towards trying to assume command, what Shockwave intended to do to Blackwind would likely disabuse him of that notion.

Psychout pondered his next move. Secondary strike team to ensure Infiltration protocols are intact. That was going to be simple enough, it was Psychout's primary function to tell the masses what to think, and these primitive apes weren't likely to be a heavy challenge. This sort of trip was best kept low key though, a large team would lead to too many 'accidents' but he'd need back-up in case it turned nasty and, as most of this was probably clandestine work he would require a specialist with patience. Of the choices available that meant Vindicator - assuming Mal had fixed him by now - was the best option as Shadowing looked to be lined up for another task. Shame, he would have been incredibly useful and he had shown he could be trusted.

First things first though, he needed access to the database and the limited files on the names and locations of the Facsimiles we did have, and then he needed to get to the remains of the factions now-destroyed base on that mudball, and work back from there. Plenty of work to be done...

"As you wish, Commander. If I could have my accesses to the intelligence network, long range and satellite communications and up- and down-link protocols reinstated" he gave Soundwave a sideways glance "And if you can also confirm that we are at the initiation of a Phase Two scenario* and that any Facsimiles I can locate are assumed to be prepared for activation, I can begin immediately, Sir. I will await transmission of further information on the Facsimiles, as they become available."

He allowed Shockwave the time to conclude an answer, it gave him a few seconds to get Mal to prepare Vindicator for deployment so sent him a private comm.

>>Mal, you done fixing Vin's head yet? I'm going to need him to join me on Sol-3 shortly, so can you re-arm him and ensure he has a suitable disguise for infiltrating fleshling civilian and potentially military outposts, and get my effects ready. We have a Grey Propaganda and double cover-up situation and it looks like we're about to kick-off Phase Two, so you'll probably need to join us eventually to program any new facsimiles. I wouldn't unpack all your weird instruments just yet Maestro...<<

Whilst he awaited Shockwaves response, he began to mentally scan though the Facsimile reports he already had access to, there weren't many and he'd not heard of any of these locations, but their organisations were always the same...

[* ooc - I refer to 'Phase Two' as dictated by this, its the only reference to the infiltration phases I can find, (the comics were years ago!) hope that's right.]

“I always fulfill my promises,” he replied to Blackwind as he gave her shoulder another gently squeeze before letting his hand drop away. He sent a simple acknowledgement back to Shockwave as he considered their options. “It appears that there will be additional Decepticons awakening on board this vessel. Since you are already being tasked with evaluating and gathering more Decepticons to potentially go down to Earth this will be an opportunity for you to find more about the various allegiances on this ship. With any luck some of these awakened Decepticons will not be completely loyal to Shockwave. Those are the ones that we should focus on swaying to our side. Perhaps you can start that process before dispatching them to join me on Earth.”

“While you are doing that I will investigate the status of the Decepticons on the planet, the ones we can find at least. I doubt Starscream has the total loyalty of many Decepticons. He doesn’t have the raw power to assure that level of loyalty. I should be able to sway some of them away from him. We have an opportunity to turn what might be a disadvantage into a major advantage..”

Thunderwing let out a slight sigh. “I doubt we can delay for long. I will head down the planet now. Keep in contact with me with regular reports. I will need to know what is going on on board the ship to try and keep one step ahead of Shockwave.”

Bridge

Soundwave silently nodded at Shockwave before turning back to his console. Using the information gathered from their former base the Decepticon began the arduous task of calling up the various facsimiles that had been put in place on Earth. Unfortunately the specialized chambers used to create them were all likely lost in the destruction of the same base. Still, some effort had been made to put some of them in useful positions; they just needed to be sure they were still functioning. It would take a bit of time for all of them to reply, if they were able, so he remained patient, as always.

The Decepticon was interrupted from his duties by a signal from Thundercracker on a non-standard frequency. The fact that it was directed at him and not the ship or Shockwave was interesting. Apparently the seeker was up to something, he just had to find out what it was and how it could benefit him. He sent a brief reply back and waited.

Clutch frowned at Knockout but exchanged his hammer back for his hand. He’d learned long ago that he was best served by following Knockout’s lead and having just awoken in a strange place with a bunch of strange Cons nearby didn’t seem like a good time to change that policy. Instead he simply moved to stand beside Knockout as he talked to the other Cons gathered in the room. He glanced over at Contemptor as he landed near them. “Yeah, who the slag are you and where the slag are we?”

Mal Practice nodded in acknowledgement at Vindicators praise. He didn't need it, but obviously he deserved it. He didn't get much of a chance to reply before Vin and Contemptor were at each other again though but this time Mal just stepped back and left them to it with a bored expression. Contemptor landing on his aft in front of the new arrivals brought them to Mal Practice's notice, but he had to make a double take before it actually registered who they were.

"Hang on, ...it's Knockout, right?"

Mal Practice could hardly believe his optics. Whilst he and the new arrival had only ever met briefly - if at all - he knew who this well turned-out mechanic was. Defectors from the Autobots always made good examples of propaganda victories and so the boss generally knew about all of them, but this one was different, although Mal initially struggled to think where he recognised him from... Iacon! "I knew I recognised that paintjob! ...damn this is a while ago now... Iacon, Medhex zone 4, lab, erm... 6? 7? You led the work on the upgrades for the class 4 railgun modifications to the city defences after Kaon fell to the 'cons and helped treat the survivors when their first assault on Icons defences was repelled. It wasn't much of a surprise when I heard you quit, they didn't much like free tinkers there do they, why do you think I'm also here?"

Shockwave must be reactivating the talent. He's good to his word, I'll give him that. Mal realised that Knockout and Clutch had no idea where they were - a situation he himself was in mere hours beforehand. "You are in my Medical Laboratory complex aboard the 'Thanatos', Shockwaves command cruiser. We are in orbit around the third planet of the Sol system, imaginatively called 'Earth'. Cybertron is dead, but so is Megatron, and we currently have the predictable crisis in command as that idiot Starscream, Shockwave and countless others are squabbling like protoforms over who gets to wave around the giant phallic cannon whilst the faction crumbles to ashes."

Not the most eloquent of summaries, but Mal was never a straight talker and his flow was interrupted by Psychout's private communiqué.

>>Eh? ...Well, you had better know what you are doing. Vindicators fixed, but all he and his buddy are doing is kicking chunks out of each other. Again. Ill get him armed and prepped, but at least a Grey mission is easier than a black. Ill dig out what I can on Facsimile gestation, but from what I learned up here, any facilities that we did have to create them will have been totalled. Mind you, how hard can it be to rebuild a facsimile tank...? Find the place and I can do the rest.<<

He turned back to Knockout, "Well, that was helpful at least... Engineering is next door, I think haywire has died of boredom in there so it should be vacant, and there are plenty of Med Labs down the corridor if you want one to work in, at least I can trust you know what you are doing. Otherwise Shockwave and co. are up on the bridge, scheming and plotting as is their want if you'd like that. No idea hwere the mess hall is as I havent had the chance to leave here yet, but you can always just stay here? It would appear that med-lab is the place where all the fun happens..." He shook his head, picked up a decapitated med-drone and wondered if the rest of the ship was this busy.

He turned his gaze towards Vindicator and Contemptor.

"Vindicator, it would appear orders have just come through, looks like you are going mudballside with the midget, I hope you have updated your holoform emitter. You're off on a black ops so we need you re-armed, and equipped. What loadout do you need? Contemptor," Mal gave a deep sigh "you're with me, we've got some homework to do and then we're meeting those two later. Still want those shotguns? Looks like may have a bit of time to fix them up for you..."

The smile that made its way to her delicate visage was almost too small to be registered. The Aerial Coordinator wanted nothing more than to remain by his side, but they were being torn apart, and why, because Commander Shockwave saw fit that neither of them could be trusted. Together they would be a force to be reckoned with, but separately they would be easy to pick off. At least that’s what the walking calculator assumed.

Blackwind raised her head up in order to peer into Thunderwing’s optics. Her duty now would be to recruit, not only a team to join the scientist planet side, but to also convince the remainder of the masses who haven’t yet chosen a side that Thunderwing was the only logical choice to bring about Megatron’s vision of what the Empire should be.

“I will do everything in my power to persuade those mechs that you are the clear choice to lead us to a final victory.”

With Thunderwing’s final order the femme Seeker nodded in agreement. Her loyalty lied with him. Anything he wished for her to do she would execute it faithfully just as she would have if the order had come from Megatron himself.

“Yes. Shockwave may already have suspicions. That could be the reason he has decided to send you to Earth and keep me here.”

Blackwind let out a low sigh before she stepped up close to him. Her optics remained lowered as she placed her hand against his chest.

“You better get going. You don’t want to keep the Commander waiting.”

The Seeker turned away from Thunderwing and left the cargo bay without another word. There was really none needed. They would perform their duties and he would return to her.

Med Bay

The question Clutch had posed was a valid one. Neither he nor Knockout knew exactly where they were or why they were brought out of stasis. The last thing he recalled was entering a cryo-stasis chamber and then darkness; it was obviously the same for Clutch.

When the mechanic hadn’t received an answer from Contemptor, Knockout grew irate. He approached the truck-former ready to teach him a lesson in proper etiquette when another mech approached him. Who this character happened to be was a mystery to him, as were most of the others in the medical facility.

“Yes, Knockout, that’s right.”

The crimson and gold mech flashed Mal Practice an incredulous look when he spoke of Medhex Zone 4 and some lab. Whatever this ‘Con was on it certainly was powerful.

“You must have me confused with some lackey. I was never stationed anywhere near Medhex Zone 4 in lab whatever it was you mentioned. And as far as your belief in me leading the work on the upgrades for the class 4 railgun modifications, I’ll gladly take the credit.”

Knockout’s face twisted in to a deep scowl but soon grew in to a delicate smile as Mal continued his delusional rendition of just how he knew him.

“You know friend, I have no clue what the slag you’re going on about. And I certainly am not going to stand here and listen to your drugged up memories of me when we obviously never met. Besides, if we had met I certainly wouldn’t reminisce on you. I don’t dedicate any part of my processor to retaining the thoughts of mentally deranged mechs.”

The smile that was spread over Knockout’s face only grew wider at the mention of the Thanatos. However, when it was mentioned that Shockwave had become the commander of said vessel that beautiful smile turned in to an ugly sneer. The last he had heard was that the Thanatos was under the Perdacon’s command. Had the Military Operations Commander terminated Razorclaw and his team, or did they turn over the ship willingly?

Knockout shook his head in mild disbelief. Megatron was dead and Shockwave was in command. But what about Starscream? Was he dead as well? And these mechs were they all under Shockwave’s spell of his promise of creating a utopian society? Knockout let out a snort and waved off Mal’s last few explanations on just where and what everyone was up to.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’m sure I can figure things out. Come on Clutch.”

The mechanic waggled his sharpened forefinger summoning his assistant along with him. But instead of leaving the medical facility, Knockout decided to make himself at home by taking a cursory look around.

“If I’m going to be obligated to labor alongside the likes of you and…them,” Knockout indicated both Contemptor and Vindicator, “… then I’d like to be familiar with any means to eviscerate you all…you know, just in case.”

Knockout flashed Mal an engaging smile as he turned around and went to work.

Weapon: Plasma Cannon
Med Bay

Contemptor turned and looked incredulously at Knockout, and at Clutch. Yes the pair had asked about where they were and what was going on, but at this rate with everything happening, Contemptor could only look at the pair with one wide optic as he put away his battle axe. He dusted his hands down as he looked over at Vindicator, who was busy flexing his massive hands - a sadistic smile on his face as he felt good, back to his old self. Contemptor was glad for that, because he couldn't have taken any more of the scholarly crap that Vindicator had recently been spouting.

Contemptor looked at Knockout again when he had uttered his next phrase about evicerating any of the con's in the room, and that was - in Contemptor's mind, a fast track to getting a plasma shell through the optics, or a boot in the aft-plate. The large truck-former made his way over to Vindicator and glowered at his mentor as he folded his arms over his chest as he addressed Knockout and Clutch at the same time.

"I'm Contemptor...he's Vindicator" The truck-former said with a growling huff as he glanced back at Vindicator and growled under his breath.

There was an audible clang around the med bay as Vindicator smacked Contemptor on the back of his head, the way a parent would chastise a child.

"Shut your whining yap..." The tank-former said as he snarled at his ward. The tank-former turned and looked at Mal Pactice as he spoke to him about the coming mission with Psychout.

"Going back to the mudball huh? I was there once in the base, and all I really saw of the place was the inside of the facility, and the surrouning area..." he paused as he tested out his shredder cannons activiation "...that was just enough for me. Damned planet filled with organic lifematter, puh..." he paused again as he spat, the glob of hot energon hissing on the cold floor of the med bay "...makes me wanna puke!"

Vindicator retracted the Shredder-Cannons and ran another systems diagnostic and then thought about the hollow-matter avatar. Come to think of it, neither him nor Contemptor had thought about a hollow-matter avatar as Vindicator was a tank, no one would really think twice about approaching a heavily armed military vehicle. In Contemptor's case, he usually tinted his windows down to a dark red so that no-one could see in. But if they were going to re-initiate phase two...

"Something i'll need to look at Mal my friend" Vindicator said thoughtfully, resting his chin in his hand as he frowned, his amber optics glowing rapidly as he tried to search an internal database for some appearance inase of human contact. In the end Vindicator selected a military man's appearance.

The 'fake' human appeared in the air, projected out by Vindicator's amber optics, and displayed black combat fatigues, black boots and white hair, slicked back and neck length with a neatly trimmed white mustache and van-dyke goatee.

"I think that will suffice..." the tank-former stated as the fake human then vanished the same way as he arrived. "...what about you Contemptor?"

The truck-former's optics did the same action as Vindicator's as he consulted an internal database to form an avatar so that phase two could go more smoothly. Again a fake human appeared in the air, this time sporting a black leather jacket, red shirt, blue jeans and black cowboy boots with spiked dark hair, and the same as before, the fake human vanished, both of them stored in theire respective mechanoid's emitter compartments.

"I'm done..and all I need now are my new guns..." the truck-former grumbled as he gave a sour look at the door to the med-bay "...how the hell did you manage to score going planet side with short-arse and not me be the one thats going?" Contemptor turned, feeling the optics of both Mal Practice and Vindicator glare at him "...I mean, come on Vin! You're a damned tank! You practically stick out like a sore digit when you are mixed in with the damned fleshbags!"

"...Do you even remember where the base is on earth?" Vindicator asked Contemptor.

There was a frosted silence.

"...I thought so."

Vindicator turned and nodded at Knockout and Clench.

"Gentle...Knockout, Clench..." Vindicator corrected himself. Who, in this climate, was a gentlemech? "...a pleasure to make your aquaintance. Now..." Vindicator turned to Contemptor and gave him a push "...get your damned processor in the game and go with Mal and get your damned shotguns back! I need to meet with Psychout!"

Vindicator turned back to Mal Practice.

"Mal..see you in a cycle or two...Contemptor, behave yourself!"
Vindicator sent a communication to Psychout.

>"Psychout...Mal Practice's repair work was beyond stellar, and I'm ready to head planet side so shift it short-arse, and whilst I've knocked a few lumps put of Contemptor, I was merely putting him in place. Vin out!"<

Contemptor grumbled at his superior's actions. Yes Vin was deffinatley back to his old self, and Contemptor was feeling it, for each slap and punch received was payback for vorn's of smartmouthing and wisecracking. And the tank-former was right for Contemptor to get his shotgun's back.

"Come on Mal..." Contemptor said "...lets get these guns outta the box"

He then sent a private communication to Mal

>"You fixed him too well...damn you technical genius!"<

Psychout raced through the Facsimile intel whilst he awaited a final response from his cycloptic commander. He's the one I need to speak to, currently based on Sol-3 building the new base. Problem is going to be ensuring his loyalty to Shockwave and actually getting him to talk to me... I just have to hope he appreciates a fine-grade of Energon as there is little else here to offer him currently.

He paused, and then addressed Shockwave again. "Commander, I believe I may have established the initial coordinator of the facsimile program. After evaluating the remains from our former operation headquarters and ascertaining the level of terran awareness of our presence, I will dispatch a team to recover any Cybertronian tech remaining that may be of use to us and then I will make contact with Darkride to try and ascertain what units are active and more information on their whereabouts. This will enable me to ensure that the infiltration protocols are still in place, and to begin further expansion of Stage 1."

He received and processed Mal Practice and Vindicators messages, Mal always did stellar work and it was good to hear Vindicator was back up and running - he'd need someone with a decent square head on their shoulders. Ignoring Mal - his head was big enough already - he responded to Vindicators message...
>>Vindicator, you will accompany me to the former base of the faction on Earth as part of a reconnaissance mission to prioritise the recovery of any Facsimile tech that may remain and establish the level of threat from the fleshlings. It is assumed that the area has been militarised by the natives and therefore your altmode will be a more efficient disguise than Contemptor's. Mal Practice and Contemptor will join us shortly after arrival to recover and transport any salvageable equipment once we have achieved access. Your structural knowledge will be of great use, as will any knowledge you have of the bases layout itself. I will meet you in engineering shortly.<<

With that, Psychout waited to be dismissed.

I know what I saw. To the pit with you. If Knockout wanted to act big in front of his friend, Mal Practice would just leave him to it, he had more important things to worry about. Besides, he doubted Knockout would get very far in here as most of the computers were sealed off after Soundwave booted Psychout out of the system.

"Contemptor, meet me in engineering once you have finished messing about, we need you and Vindicator re-armed."

Then, ignoring the rooms other occupants - even the hidden ones - he shuffled out of the Med-lab and into the Engineering lab next door containing the weapons development equipment and a very quiet Haywire.

The cycloptic commander's optic continued to peruse the inactive duty roster aboard the Thanatos. There were still operatives whom Shockwave saw no particular use for, so in stasis they remained. Another had caught his attention however. With no boister, the Decepticon imperator's hand slid down the holoscreen.

//Designation: Darkfire. Weapons: Dual Hidden Blades, Throwing Knives, Claws, Null Ray. Location: Thanatos cryonic-regeneration chamber Sigma-9. COMMAND: Reactivation.//

With Soundwave's oversight of the facsimile operation, Shockwave was reasonably certain that they would begin receiving actionable intelligence from the human front soon. Psychout, it appeared, required further clarification as to the Decepticons' strategic status.

"Imperative: you will operate as if we are within the beginning stages of Phase 1 until ordered otherwise. It is unknown to me how much damage has been done to the protocols by Starscream. When that reality changes, so too will your command prerogatives. You will be granted access to the level of information necessary to complete your mission. Nothing more. Dismissed."

Psychout's network probing had already gone further than Shockwave thought reasonable. Now the intelligence operative was going to be reined in and forced to succeed with less resources. If he proved successful at that, Shockwave would be more inclined to grant him greater operational independence. For the time being, however, he was going to have to accomplish more with less. Like many a Decepticon before him, he would either rise to the challenge or crumble beneath it.

Shockwave detached himself from the command chair and stood up. He too would need to leave the bridge for a time, as there were other matters aboard the ship that required his direct attention.

"Soundwave will assume oversight of bridge operations in my absence," Shockwave began, also considering the ramifications of leaving the Intelligence Commander exposed. Though a capable combatant, given his history there were any number of Decepticons who might see Megatron's absence as a prime opportunity to exact a measure of revenge on the blackmailing Decepticon. So long as he continued to prove useful, Shockwave saw no need to provide them with such an opportunity. "Darkwing and Dreadwind will assume bridge stations until you are summoned for another infusion of ultra-energon."

He had little doubt that Soundwave could find some useful function for them to perform. Moreover, it would provide a ripe environment for testing any lingering effects the ultra energon had on their systems, should combat prove necessary. The ultra-energon from their original infusion was statistically unlikely to be present at all--a situation necessitating a thorough recharge; however, the compound had already displayed surprising results. The cycloptic Decepticon was open to the possibility that there might be more.

"Shadowing, you are with me," Shockwave said finally, before proceeding to depart from the bridge, en route to the storage area where the Ore-13 had been locked away.

Violet optics flickered back to life as the CR chamber doors opened. Before moving from the chamber, the violet optics performed a quick sweep of the room. No threats in sight. Voices floated in from an adjacent room. Carefully, Darkfire emerged from her CR chamber. She cast a glance at the other chambers in the room. The majority were unactivated. She took note of the few that were empty.

The assassin recalled entering the CR chamber, but had no idea what length of time had past between then and her reactivation. She would first have to assess where she was and a number of other factors before ever daring to assume that she was in friendly territory. She needed information.

Darkfire moved toward the doorway to the adjacent room silently. She did not crouch or sneak. Silence was all one needed at times. She looked into the adjacent room in time to see Mal Practice leaving the medical bay. Of course, Darkfire did not really recognize him. She took a look at the other occupants in the room. All were unfamiliar to her. She did notice the Decepticon insignias that decorated them. The jet-former felt assured that all was well, but she did take a moment to formulate a contingency plan.

The assassin stepped into plain view. "Can anyone inform me of the situation?" she asked to all Decepticons in the room.
