Whatever Weirdwolf was thinking as he listened the various Decepticons in the med bay to speak, the eccentric warrior kept to himself. Vindicator's story offered very little to his quest of making sense into the events that had led to Megatron's disappearance. It was only natural for rumors to spread out when no one knew what exactly had transpired. Right now, he saw little reason to take any information regarding Megatron's supposed death for granted.

"Worry not hulking comrade of mine. At least know you will what goint to do are you for the breems several to come." Weirdwolf joked at Contemptor about the very likely cleaning and salvage work that was waiting the bruiser. Still a self satisfied smirk on his face, Weirdwolf addressed Vindicator, "But alas Vindicator... ended up like me you could have! Still understand you this one can!"

He had not even engaged in discussion with the large Decepticon just out of boredom, it had been a ruse. He had done it to be able to monitor everyone else within the considerable range of his sensors while being seemingly focused on Vindicator. And in a very short time frame, he had learnt a lot. Psychout was clearly a bot to keep an optic on and a busy one at that. Luckily enough most Transformers seemed to forgot how good sensors some of them had. There were rumors that Soundwave could hear a fly sneeze. Well, he could too and Weirdwolf was pretty sure that Soundwave could really do even better than that. Then again, what advantage Soundwave had when it came to hearing, Weirdwolf could counter with superior tracking sensors. If he wanted to find something, he usually did.

Not that Weirdwolf ever had made a big deal out of his abilities. Nevertheless, being able to listen to Psychout's chatter with Mal-Practice was not too difficult for despite of the annoying amount of muffling disturbalance from the thick walls and doors of the Thanatos. It appeared Psychout had been the cause of Contemptor's rampage against the medical drones. Mostly for his own amusement even. He was also extremely spiteful towards the seekers and Starscream in particular. He had seemingly chosen Shockwave's side as well. And this Mal-Practice? That bot sounded like Crankcase's long lost twin.

And then there were Blackwind and Shadowing. Both agents of different masters. Shadowing had appeared after they had learned of Megatron's demise, clearly he was Shockwave's go to bot. Blackwind had been the bot Megatron had put to Shockwave's team to monitor the archaic scientist, but given this new carapace and her company of late, Thunderwing appeared to be her new idol. And both of them had been far less careful when it came to scouting these newcomers than he was. Weirdwolf had to give it to them though, they had far more to gain than he did. The tracker didn't particularly care for Thunderwing or Starscream, and Shockwave even less. Nor he was interested in leading. Megatron was gone and he was not about to choose his side just yet. If he was to follow someone, it would be for the right reasons and right now he wanted to learn out more before even contemplating on who to follow.

His thoughts were distracted by Blackwind, who no doubt wanted to gauge his loyalties or even make him a potential ally. For now, Weirdwolf decided to play her game.

"Fun have you with the medical bots." He said to Vindicator and Contemptor before slipping out of the repair bay and heading towards the direction Blackwind had taken to.

Quickly reaching Blackwind but not moving next to her, Weirdwolf addressed the femm. "Blame you can I not. No can a femme resist the Wolf. Later or sooner they all fall shall."

Soundwave had been monitoring communications and listening in on the conversations on the bridge. While he had seemingly sided with Shockwave he wanted to remain well informed of all of the comings and goings in the Empire. Shockwave would prove an effective shield for him, but none would be as effective as Megatron. Serving as the top lieutenant for the most powerful Decepticon gave him a great deal of influence and leeway in the ranks. Not even serving under Shockwave in a similar capacity would duplicate that, so he would keep looking for any alternative that might give him an even better position, even if it was unlikely to reveal itself.

It was during all of this monitoring that he noticed some unusual energy readings coming from the Ultrax. He focused a scan on the other ship and reported it out loud. “Ultrax: energy levels rising. Transwarp jump: imminent.” The Decepticon glanced up at the screen to watch the Ultrax vanish into transwarp. He turned backed to his controls. “Tracking Ultrax.” The slightest tone of annoyance slipped into his voice as his attempt was foiled. “Unable to track Ultrax: all tracking and locator devices presumed deactivated or destroyed.” He turned to face Shockwave. “Ultrax jump capability assessment: sub-optimal. Distance they could have traveled: minimal.”

Soundwave had not expected this sudden move on Starscream’s part. Apparently he had realized his weaker position and was attempting to run and possibly regroup. It would only prolong things, making things worse for the Decepticons as a whole. He could only hope that his disappearance was blamed on him.

*

Thunderwing had been prepared to leave the bridge and examine the equipment he had brought with him from Cybertron when Starscream made his move. It was a bit startling, but made some sense, if you could put yourself in Starscream’s position and mindset. Shockwave had put his back against the wall and forced the issue, perhaps a bit too harshly. The seeker’s only options were to fight, and most likely lose, surrender, a wholly unacceptable move that would lead to his imprisonment if not deactivation, or to run and live to plot and scheme another day.

The scientist wasn’t entirely sure whether this chain of events worked in his favor or not. Having the Decepticons still splintered mean that Shockwave did not have full control over them, a weakness that could certainly be exploited. On the other hand Starscream’s followers were now effectively out of reach. The seeker would likely do his utmost to secure their total loyalty while he had the opportunity. At the very least the game had taken a very interesting turn.

“It seems, commander, that the cowardly seeker has seen fit to run. I suppose it is in his nature to do so, but he did take a sizable portion of Decepticon forces with him. What is our next move Commander Shockwave?”

Shadowing's report was curious. Shockwave had been reasonably certain that the command structure of this particular group of Decepticons had been resolved back on Cybertron. That was slowly proving not to be the case.

>>"Acknowledged. Continue providing assistance where necessary."<<

While Thunderwing processed his earlier request, Shockwave's attention remained calmly focused on the situation surrounding them, not simply in relation to Starscream and the Ultrax, but also in regards to what was occurring within the various rooms and corridors of the Thanatos itself. Thunderwing's initial assessments of the process that he had created would undoubtedly prove to be beneficial reading; however, Shockwave already knew that if he were to find anything of substance within those reports he would also want to examine the subjects in question more directly. And, at present, there were only two available options. Getting either of them to submit willingly to the full battery of tests that Shockwave already had in mind was statistically likely to end in failure.

That meant other avenues might need to be explored. Avenues that would not only provide Shockwave with the information he desired, but also put to rest any lingering doubts about the most logical choice to lead.

Before the Military Operations Commander could give that situation much further consideration, Soundwave interjected new information which rendered it a secondary concern for the moment. The Seeker had seemingly answered the question of leadership for all of them by departing the area. In the Decepticon ranks, all knew what it meant when two individuals faced off and one backed down. But the Strategist also knew that it was not likely that simple when it came to Starscream. After all, the Seeker had attempted direct treachery against Megatron himself on more than one occasion. To think he would not attempt something similar with Shockwave would be illogical in the utmost. Moreover, the Predacons were still aboard that vessel, and until more concrete information was presented, he would proceed with a certain degree of caution.

"Imperative: attempt to reach Razorclaw on every available frequency. Immediate status required," Shockwave said to Soundwave, before turning to Thunderwing.

"Declarative: if the Seeker wishes to run, I am persuaded to give chase for the time being. Once a definitive trace is established, I will put an end to Starscream's treachery myself. In the interim, it is in our collective best interests to begin strategizing the implementation of the technology we acquired on Cybertron. Once you have submitted your report on the transdermal grafting process, I will require a second report of your analysis of the mechaforming technology acquired from Kolkular and your opinions regarding its optimum use."

Though Shockwave had his own ideas about how each of the technologies they acquired on Cybertron would be put to optimum use, the Strategist also wanted to compile a database of recommendations from those within their ranks who were qualified to offer such opinions. If a pattern could be easily derived from the various analyses, the path forward would be an easy one. The path forward was still unclear at the present time, but Shockwave was growing reasonably more confidant that their extinction as a species could be avoided.

Unaware of Starscreams leap to Earth, and unperturbed by Blackwinds attempt at intimidation, Psychout decided it really was time to get back to work. Med-bay was slowly emptying of all uninjured personnel and there was now just the 5 who needed to be there, He and Mal, Vindicator and Contemptor, and Shadowing. Finally able to plug himself back into the console uninterrupted Psychout took stock of what was going on around him as he used his special ability to expand his conciousness out across the ships network.

All this lovely information... heh... AH! There we go! Thundering was on board, another self-proclaimed leadership candidate - and formidable scientist - that might explain Blackwinds not-very-veiled threats. He thought back to her words "make your decision"? had she actually listened to any of the last hours conversation - at least the conversation held deliberately within her audio range - she would know exactly where his loyalties lie, without Megatron to lead he would see Shockwave on the throne and Starscream destroyed, anyone else was a bit-player. He perused the ships long range scanners and had a brief search for the Ultrax to see what state it was in. He searched again. and double checked. Yep, it wasn't there, but there wasn't any debris or sign of a battle either. He knew as well as anyone else that bucket could never get them a decent distance so they had to be on one of the surrounding planets and as the only one with an energy signature was Earth, that was where they would be. ...this is getting more fun by the minute. Wait 'til the others hear this...

He popped his face up on the main monitor screen on the Medical chambers and he addressed the room.
>>We interrupt this broadcast to bring you this important news-flash: The Ultrax has disappeared, and is suspected to have fled to earth. Eye witness reports state that Starscream was heard to be screaming like a helpless fembot, cowardly refusing to go down with his own ship, and plotting to overthrow himself to become the 'new leader of the Decepticons!'<<

That joke never got old.

>>This can mean only one thing people: we'll be following him to Sol 3 shortly, so we have some work to do. And now all the interruptions have gone, maybe we can finally get back to it... Contemptor, if you would please come sit in this chair..?<<

A section of the wall folded out to make a giant seat, along with an octopi of small probe arms, scalpels and cutting equipment who waved at him comically.

>>Please try not to move once the procedure starts, it takes some delicate programming to get the probe arms to move correctly, and you do want to be able to actually hold those beautifully-crafted, hand-made and perfectly balanced plasma shell shotguns again, don't you?<<

---

Meanwhile, prior to his partners address, Mal Practice called the subdued Vindicator over, and handed him a lead that led into a device that looked like it came from a torturers dungeon. Wires and cables crackled with static as rotators whirred and levers swung from side to side noisily. "This is a neural transubstantiatior. It will access your neural pathways, map your posatronic synapsi and tell us where any disconnections or damaged circuitry lies. All you need to do is place that probe at the base of your cranial casing, just between vertebra 1 and 2 at the top of your neck. It is completely painless and should only take a few minutes ...and yes I created it myself."

Whilst he waiting for Big Vin to plug himself in he turned to Shadowing, but was interrupted by Psychouts news-flash regarding the Ultrax, Sol 3 and Starscreams retreat.

"...Well now, this is going to be an interesting ride. So, Shadow, what is your stake in all of this. Your loyalty to the master has been proven, the question is, what do you stand to gain, and how can we help..?"

It was an odd thing, but the decepticon's resident gold and blue tracker had a point about it. Yes Vindicator wasn't forthcoming with a lot of the details, but then again you couldn't blame him for he didnt know WeirdWolf, and couldn't be sure of his agenda, as there were now many major players jostling for leadership of the Decepticon Empire, many different characters had let their intentions be known, be it subtly or directly. So the shortest and breifest the answer - at this point - the better.

It was almost as if the different bickering factions all rose up as one in the medical bay as Vindicator watched Blackwind practically paralyse Psychout with one move, and then physically berate the smaller mechanoid before letting him go. Vindicator - still suffering from the pain in his head, silently admired the vicious caress of the female seeker, and he had felt his spark-core jump when she ran her finger along his cheek and down to the center of his chestplate, bang center in the decepticon insignia that was laser-etched onto the gold paneling. It had been a long time since a femmebot had made his spark jump that way.

"No way in the nine hells are you getting your hopes up Vin!" came Contemptor's gruff voice "...for a start she looks as treacherous, infact more than Starscream...and second..."

"Shut your vocalizer perspex mouth!" Vindicator shot back angrily "...I'm not the one who's willing to give his spark to a slagging seeker..and a complete unstable psychopath no less!"

Contemptor's face twisted outwardly as he slammed both his hands down infront of Vindicator.

"At least Hellion wouldn't stab me in the back to further a leadership agenda!" Contemptor spat, the glob of oily purple energon hissed as it hit the floor. "And don't you ever sit and preach to me you frakking slagup!" Contemptor's black and purple frame bristled with anger as the lighting of the medbay bounced off the chrome edging of his shoulders as his purple optics blazed. "...I know for a fact that your damned preaching on the Ultrax could have almost got you shot, or worse, because I'm slaggin' damn sure that Motormaster would have torn you apart, or turned you upside down and jammed your head up your own exaust port!"

There was something that caught Contemptor's sensors alight to a slight movement, and the truckformer whipped his head in the direction of Shadowing and pointed an angry finger at the jet-former, the vitriol exploding from his vocalizer.

"Keep it steady Shadow' this is between me and the overbearing teacher...someone who's mental faculties have been switched for ball-bearings and brass nuts..." Contemptor couldn't resist one last painful fact "...and right now his spark is being toyed with by one of the most dangerous femme's in this empire!"

Vindicator's amber optic's lit up like fire as he stood above Contemptor, forcefully jabbing him in the chest with two fingers.

"You ungrateful proto-lax!" Vindicator howled, the sparks flying from the side of his head, the agony inside his central processor amplifying his anger "I should have left you to rot in the heap that once was Altihex and..."

There was the most almighty bang that resonated out into the hallway as Contemptor punched Vindicator hard in the mouth, and as sparks shot from the sides of Vindicator's head, the larger mechanoid's optics flickered, and then he collapsed, polaxed in the middle of the medbay. Possibly the best place that the altercation could have happened, because Mal Practice had arrived, and was a crotchety as they came. But the best part of it all? Mal didn't need any of the expensive anesthetic that would have made his job more interesting.

It was after Contemptor had decked Vindicator, that he head heard Psychout speak up after a moment of silence, breaking the shock of one large mechanoid flooring a larger mechanoid of higher rank. It put a notice out that someone's patience was becoming thinner by the nano-sec. There was an itch in Contemptor's shoulder as he turned and grabbed Vindicator by the shoulder with his good arm and he dragged him towards the operating chair that Mal Practice had indicated with one dangerously, and long looking hand.

"Yeah yeah, Mal-Ware..." Contemptor growled as he hauled the prone form of Vindicator over to the surgeon "...just give me a parsec to drag lead-head here to ya..." There were more curses and snarls coming from the truckformer. Unceremoniously, Vindicator was slumped into the surgeon's chair and Contemptor's hand grabbed around the Neuro Transubstantiator and slammed Vindicator's head back before looking at Mal Practice.

"He's all yours doc... and don't worry about pain releif for now.. just get him fixed! I can't stand all of his inert and mindless preaching...and if it helps...He was buried under a collapsing volcano and had his head immersed in volcanic magma for some time..."

Leaving the comatose seige veteran with the capable hands of the decepticon surgeon, the truckformer approached the tendril surrounded operator's chair that had transformed from the wall, Psychout's grinning visage present on the plasma display as he mentioned Contemptor's finely tooled shotguns - weapons that he had originally used, but switched to the meatier plasma cannon for the heavy urban fighting on Cybertron, but now - here on Sol 3 and the constant fighting arena's changing - something more versatile was needed.

"How the hell did you get a hold of my twin hellraisers Psychout? I knew I left them in kaon and...ah the nine frakking hells with it who cares!" Contemptor paused and then huffed again, growling in cybertronian as he let the micron overtake the main console and get to work on fixing the problematic fixings, gears, and rotators in Contemptor's dodgy shoulder.

"Get me fixed up proper so I can start raising hell..." he paused and took a dredge of the triple x energon that was left in the bottle "...and If that strutless over-bearing pizza delivery boy come wannabe leader Starscream pokes his head out above whatever rock he has went and hid under..." His purple optics burned brightly as he glared a Psychout's face on the plasma screen "...I'll blow his head off and take it as a trophy for myself!"

Contemptor was seething inside, he was irked greatly, and inside he knew that the not knowing of Hellion's status was most of what was knawing away at him. The other, was what was Vindicator's true meanings of coming to the Thanatos.

The trophy hunter's optics darkened and narrowed as he watched Mal Practice intently, ignoring the fine tuning, and the jolting pains that came from his shoulder. Contemptor muttered lowly, yet just enough that Psychout could hear him.

"If you're playing me Vin, I will bust your brain casing open and rip out your central processing unit with my bare hands!"

Thunderwing nodded as Shockwave pushed again for the information he desired about the grafting process. He had hoped that Starscream’s stunt would have delayed things a bit, but Shockwave was as efficient as ever. He would have to come up with some new tactics to delay or manipulate the delivery of information to him. While he had no doubt that his personal knowledge of the grafting process could not be surpassed, what with the time and hands on experience he had with it, he also knew that Shockwave would be able to advance through it rapidly. He just needed to make sure he stayed one step ahead of investigating Shockwave’s work.

“Of course Commander. If I may excuse my self from the bridge, I would like to examine the equipment I brought on board from Cybertron and perhaps begin setting up in one of the labs on board the ship. Having the equipment set up and calibrated will surely help in your analysis of my forthcoming report.”

*

Soundwave swiftly moved to comply with Shockwave’s orders, annoyed at the seeker’s cowardice, but not surprised by it. Starscream had never favored a true fight, he always preferred facing his enemies back and placing an energo dagger in it, or a well placed shot to the cranium. Part of this was just his nature, but mostly it was him realizing that he was always challenging his betters. He would fair little better against Shockwave in a standard battle then he would have against Megatron. The only difference would have been Shockwave being more efficient about it, not feeling the need for any satisfactory humiliation of the seeker.

As he attempted to contact Razorclaw Soundwave noticed an intrusion into certain command controls. A quick investigation revealed a certain familiarity in the intrusion. It appeared that Psychout had been revived and was up to his standard snooping. Unfortunately for him he had gotten their first and was already well embedded in the ship’s systems. Only his current distractions had allowed the other Decepticon the opportunity to sneak into the systems. It would be the last successful attempt he would make. Swiftly Soundwave locked down all of the command codes and froze out access to key systems such as sensors, engines, weapons, navigation and defensive systems to only those with command codes or those with the appropriate permissions, which excluded Psychout.

*

Repair-Bay

Psychout’s image on the various consoles garbled and distorted until it reformed into the visage of Soundwave. >>”Further access to command systems of Thanatos: limited to those with correct codes or permissions. Punishment for further attempts to hack into, monitor or seize control of those systems: severe. Further warnings you will receive, Psychout: none.”<< Soundwave’s image disappeared from the monitors. At the same time a bolt of raw electrical power surged from the computer and directly into the plugged in Psychout. It was a standard defensive measure against intruders that Soundwave had activated against the former cassetticon. It sent a highly painful shock to the victim, but not strong enough to do any permanent damage.

Contemptor and Vindicators little brawl spurred Psychout on. Getting these two onside should be reasonably easy - although why everyone seemed to want to chase after female seekers was beyond him - but Hellion's whereabouts was a problem for another day.

First things first... He set Contemptors shoulder repair running at full speed and thought over what he had just seen. Vin was clearly out of sorts, 'Temptor here had a good short fuse and clearly respected Vin as much as the big guy looked after his ward. We really need to get these two back into the field, a hunter and a siege tactician is exactly what we need down there, if Starscreams crew has gone to ground, we are going to need too flush them out...

His thought process was interrupted by Soundwave's montone drawl. I've got a job to do here as an analyst and that paranoid fool getting involved just prevents me from being able to compete it!!. The shock to his system ejected him from most of the network but as communications and medical lab was an area he still had clearance for he just about held his place in those addresses. I'm done working for you, you overplayed mouth organ...

His face returned to the screen "Ouch! Looks like the old boss has finally discovered my reactivation, I'm locked out of all the fun parts of the ship but got what I need for now. I think I know how we can shut down Starscream and the Autobots' chances of leaving earth for a while..."

Regardless of Soundwaves interference, he had a job to complete, and pulsed a message through to Shockwave to update him on the situation, including Shadowing to ensure that he was kept in the loop. He was now also painfully aware that Soundwave would be listening in, but it made little difference. Soundwave should know exactly what he was talking about anyway - he is more than aware of my work here.

>>Commander Shockwave, This is Psychout over in Med-Labs. As you will be aware, the Ultrax has moved from its former position and considering the resources available in this sector, the power levels of the ship prior to my departure and Starscreams core psychological profile markers, it a pretty safe assumption for all that he has attempted a jump to the surface of Sol 3. Further, as requested, all parties defecting from the Ultrax prior to its leap are now receiving treatment and are in the process of being re-armed for re-deployment. Both are tactical heavy-combat specialists and as such the barracks environment is not suited for them. I do however have a use for these soldiers when their treatment has finished, and Shadowing if he so wishes and you permit it, in ensuring that the Autobots and Starscream-loyalists are tied up down there for an indefinite period of time, allowing you to complete your work up here unhindered. Do I have permission to discuss this with you personally?<<

He made no mention of his suspicions towards Thunderwing, nothing could be proven and knowledge like that was best kept until it was required, but he had to get these guys doing something, and soon, it was enough of a mess in here as it was.

--------

Mal Practice grumbled to himself as Psychout broadcast his message, but chuckled at Soundwave's punishment for his overconfidence. He couldn't hear what was said but had no need to, he knew the little schemer would be up to something. Vindicator's unconscious body lay awkwardly on the slab as he began to work away at his neural malfunctions, sparks and flashes occasionally lighting up his silver panelled faceplate and his tough black hide. He cvhatted to Contemptor as he worked on his mentor, "So, Hellion eh? I remember that one. Fixed her up a few times back on Cybertron. Couldn't sit still as I remember, more interested in how her friend was... now what was her name..? Ah well, not that it matt- ah, hang on..." Vindicator began to convulse on the table as Mal Practice tested a series of his nerve sub-routines. Then, chuckling, Mal began to use the neural pathways to make the large seige-cons arms and legs move gracefully as if he was a puppet "Look, he's doing the robot!" he laughed as he began to hum an unrecognisable Cybertronian tune whilst making Vin move his arms an legs in time with the music... "Well, that's good news, the lava damage hasn't touched his mobility core, meaning my diagnosis is complete." He stopped playing in Vin's head and let his limbs slump back to the table. "He is an older Generation, which means he is more hardy and easier to fix, but finding parts may be complicated. I will probably need to to speak to the engineering lab. The lava has melted through the couplings on his personality matrix, so I will need to reconstruct the matrix shell, upload a new version of his core character file directly from his spark, and install it... It's pretty simple for a genius such as my self. Highly illegal though, of you care about that kind of thing - luckily for you, the right amount of energon credits means I don't, and even better is that your costs are already covered" apparently.

"Psychout, when you have quite finished scheming, I need one of your cerebro shells, and you need to send a comms to Haywire over in the weapons lab for some class-4 dermaplate housing for a large scale cranial insertion, its mostly used in photon weaponry these days. From the records Haywire should be more than capable of knocking you up a batch. Ill be able to do the rest from here..."

Shockwave turned to Thunderwing.

"Acceptable. Proceed. I will expect your initial report within the established time frame," Shockwave said.

Whether Thunderwing was intentionally stalling or their current circumstances were forcing him to become distracted, Shockwave was not fully certain. The greater percentage--even if it was only by a little--suggested that Thunderwing was intelligent enough to multitask to the level of Shockwave's expectations. It would follow, then, that any delay on the information he requested would be intentional. For the time being, their most recent interaction would be a suitable enough reminder that Shockwave had not forgotten, nor would he. But he would also not take any more proactive steps unless Thunderwing's delays became a hindrance to the empire's progress. Given Shockwave's own doubts about the suitability of widespread-application of the process, that was not likely to become an issue for the foreseeable future.

Shockwave's research in to Ore-13 was a much higher priority for the Strategist. And given that there were still a few tons of unprocessed raw materials that Megatron had given to him that were not fully refined in to the premium grade energon that Dreadwind and Darkwing had already tasted, that would be Shockwave's priority once the question of leadership had been put to rest.

Even so, that did not mean that Shockwave could not deal with both matters, at least partially.

In regards to other matters, Shockwave could see that some of the subordinates that had been awakened were beginning to display their restless nature--a situation that was often the case amongst the lower-ranks of the Decepticons. Deprived of Autobots to engage for any significant span of time, and they would quickly regress in to fighting one another. Counterproductivity at its utmost, especially in their current circumstances. It was unfortunate that Psychout, whose function and intelligence did not suggest a proclivity for such things, seemed to be only too willing to push the boundaries of his rank and skills. Soundwave, much to Shockwave's unspoken satisfaction, had quickly remedied that. Shockwave would now take the next logical step.

>>"Declarative: permission granted for bridge access. Proceed immediately."<<

After Thunderwing had departed the bridge as he requested, Shockwave turned to Soundwave.

"Declarative: I require any insight you have in to Thunderwing's current motivations. I had thought the command structure of this operation to be resolved on Cybertron. If that is not the case, I will need to take additional steps."

Shadowing did not know what he felt more insult about. The tone that Contemptor took with him or that he thought he would care about their little discussion. Still he waited for the little fight to pass before going back to Mal Practice's question. He was not about to enter the verbal fray by trying to compete with the audio level of the others.

As he waited he listened to Psychout's private message. It was not a bad idea and he suspected that Shockwave would accept speaking to him. This served to raise his spirits as it meant he would likely be sent out to doing tasks that he was more used to undertaking.

"What do I get out of it Mal Practice?" Shadowing said in a thoughtful tone. "Blackwind spoke of times like this being moments of bettering one self. Well, I suppose I should not be too surprised to hear a Seeker speak like that. That kind of thought has cost the Decepticon cause in more than one occasion. Me? I am not interested in fame, riches, or power. The only thing that I want out of this is that rarest of commodities... victory."

Shadowing work with a calm intensity with special emphasis on the word "victory." He stood and looked towards the others.

"I came to make sure you received what you required and I have done so. Now it is time for me to get back to my usual work. If you wish to continue to seek femme-cons or riches then I wish you luck in your endeavors. If you would like to join me achieve our goal then I will welcome your aid once the repair work is complete."

Corridor Outside of the Med Bay

Blackwind contined down the hall with Weirdwolf in tow. She wanted to guage the tracker’s loyalty, but she did not want to declair Thunderwing as the candidate who would lead the Decepticons to victory. The mech was quite intelligent, something that was often overlooked by others due to his unusual quirk. The Aerial Coordinator knew that Weirdwolf was not entirely sure of Starscream’s intentions or his worthiness as the heir to Lord Megatron’s throne. Shockwave, well, from what she had witnessed in the shuttle bay she knew that the tracker would be very reluctant to follow the cycloptic mech.

Slowing her advance so that Weidwold could move up along side of her, Blackwind let a smile crease her lips as he stated that there were no femmes that could resist him. She had never personally seen such an instance, but she was not going to tell him that. After all she wanted the mech to feel at ease in her presence.

Weirdwolf, I have no doubt you’re a very capable mech…”

Looking over to him as they continued their trek she continued.

“…on the battlefield and off. You, in fact, are an experienced and intelligent warrior, this I have witnessed with my own optics. But I feel your abilities are being hindered. You should not have to sit on the side lines even now while others claim what should rightfully be yours.”

Turning a corner, Blackwind paused in her vocal musings to let what she had said sink in. Rounding another corner, Blackwind finally stopped her advance, turning fully to look at the tracker.

“You can be so much more, Weirdwolf. Give what I have said some thought. I am sure you will come to an admirable decision.”

That said, the encased Seeker flashed the golden tracker a smile before she left him alone to ponder what she had said. She then opened a secure channel to Thunderwing.

>>”Thunderwing. My appologies for leaving during the meeting with Shockwave. I decided to guage the troops in the medical bay. Unfortunately, our cycloptic friend has already gained the backing of several of the mechs. It appears that Psychout, Vindicator and Contemptor have made their choice. None of them seem to be adequate additions. But of course that is Shockwave's problem.”<<

She grew quiet for a moment before she went on.

>>”Where has the ‘Commander’ sent you? I would prefer to continue this conversation in your presence.”<<

Psychout was unsurprised at Shadowing dropping that Blackwind was a Seeker, he was definitely growing to like his new associate and both of them being outspoken supporters of Shockwave meant that there was a certain degree of trust and an incredibly high chance of them working together in the foreseeable future. Now if I can just find a spark of commonality between Shadowing and the colossal twins currently undergoing treatment, I can finally have a team to depend upon after the loss of my old unit... He stopped torturing himself over the death of his friends as Shockwave's reply arrived. Excellent!

He replied straight away
>>On my way Commander, Psychout out.<<

"Shadowing, Shockwave has requested my presence, but it would be an honour to work alongside someone with both your credentials and objectives. It would appear we both share the same goals; the betterment of our race, the destruction of our enemies and the restoration of Cybertron, the whole 'enough energy to be able to swim in' is just an added bonus. I'm fairly sure the Commander will want a lengthy explanation of what's been going on here for the last few hours as well as to analyse my intentions towards furthering his cause and ending Starscreams, but I'd like you to join us if you can. My strategy could use someone with your talents?"

Mal Practice seemed less than impressed. "And where in the Pit do you think you are going!? You wake me up with no explanation, tell me Megatron and Cybertron are dead, dump this relic and the drone-destroyer here in my new repair bay for me to fix - FOR FREE!! - and then swan off like you own the place? Last I checked, I outranked you - I order you to stay here!!" He didn't wait for an answer and went straight back on with his work, scowling and grumbling to himself. Psychout knew he secretly enjoyed pulling rank on him, even if it was almost always ignored.

"Mal, you heard the message, he requested me. You are the precise instrument, I am the hand that guides you, and now I need to speak to the brain for instruction. Vindicator and Contemptor are you focusi for now. Here is the Cerebro shell you required and I will call in on Haywire on my way past for the rest of your parts and to assist you in my place, Engineering is only next door. Get these guys fixed up fast, as when I get back we will all be busy putting a stop to Starscream and sucking the energon out of that ugly green rock."

Vindicator was still out cold, but Contemptor was basking in the repair on his shoulder. Psychout nudged him and said "You hold still now, we'll have this sorted shortly and then you'll be back to work breaking stuff and making noise or whatever it is you guys did previously..."

"Shadow? I gotta move out. Shockwave said to come immediately and I have to pop into Engineering next door for Dr. Hfuhruhurr here first, so if you're coming, Ill see you in the corridor in 10."

Psychout left Med-Bay at a trot, checking that Blackwind and Weirdwolf had moved on before he emerged, and rounded the corner and headed into Engineering.

Engineering Doorway

"Haywire? I'm Psychout, and before you say it - yes, I'm short. Until 5 minutes ago I was assisting Surgeon Mal Practice over in Repair Lab. He has now requested that you relieve me, so can you head over with some Class-4 Dermaplate plasma housing, enough for a large-scale cranial insertion. I'll also warn you, he's not in a very good mood currently, so good luck..."

And with that request he headed off towards the Command Bridge, hoping Shadowing would soon follow. This scheme didn't hinge on his involvement, but it would certainly be easier with skills like his available. He just had to hope Shockwave went for his plan, it wasn't exactly... logical.

Despite of his earlier quip about no femmes being able to resist him, Weirdwolf did not really entertain any beliefs about Blackwind being interested in him. Not that he had ever had to suffer the lack of company before the war. The war however had made short work of the elitist circles whose appreciation for the finer arts had been Weirdwolf's source of top grade energon. In fact there was little doubt about this being nothing else but another attempt by Blackwind to gauge his loyalties or steer his opinion towards her preferred direction. And her words and mannerisms only reinforced his presumption. As did her hasty retreat and disinterest in hearing the tracker's reply.

Contrary to what others may have believed to be the only options for the new leader of the Decepticons, Weirdwolf's vision was not limited on the options at hand. Whoever he decided to follow for the time being was nothing more than a temporary choice. The two most competent Decepticon warlords in Weirdwolf's opinion were not present in the Sol system. Yet, he also realized that informing either one of them about what had taken place on Terra could plunge the remnaint of the Empire into a civil war where the disagreements between Shockwave, Starscream, Thunderwing and Razorclaw would be considered minor in comparison. Without Megatron, neither Scorponok or Deathsaurus would be satisfied with nothing less than becoming the Supreme Leader of the Decepticons.

The attempt to bait Weirdwolf with promises of grandeur and higher rank had been a miscalculation on Blackwind's part. Perhaps it was because of how his wires were crossed or perhaps it was just his true nature but Weirdwolf lacked the ambition of aiming higher within the ranks of the Decepticons. Nevertheless, he did yearn for respect what he did. Weirdwolf was proud of his talents and he knew he was very good at what he did. Shockwave had indeed made a mistake earlier by utilizing him to serve his goals like a drone. Thunderwing had done better back when the carapace clad scientist had led the team of explorers into the depths of Cybertron. It did little to change the fact that neither of the long lost scientists had Weirdwolf's trust. In that sense both Razorclaw and Starscream were far more accomplished leaders with both having led numerous campaigns while both Shockwave and Thunderwing had been presumed dead. It was something others might have forgotten but not Weirdwolf.

It didn't matter. He was no closer to a decision than he had been when he had first heard of Megatron's demise. Shrugging his shoulders as Blackwind headed to out to scheme with Thunderwing or whatever the femme had in mind, Weirdwolf moved to opposite direction. Perhaps Skullcruncher had some new insight to offer to him, likely not but at least the tracker knew his friend wouldn't mind having at least somekind of a pause to his guard duty.

As Thunderwing left the bridge Soundwave continued his efforts to raise Razorclaw. The lack of response from the Predacon was troubling on many levels. He was certain that the Ultrax was still in communications range. That left only 2 options, that Razorclaw was unable to respond or unwilling to respond. Either way it made the current leadership situation even more complicated as they were without one of the more elite fighting units at their disposal. He placed the signal on automated repeat for now as Shockwave gave new instructions.

Soundwave turned to face Shockwave as he asked for his opinion. He quickly skimmed through his recordings of the past several minutes on the bridge. While he hadn’t been focused on scanning the electrical impulses generated by the cerebral circuitry of all Trasnformers he did have some readings he had recorded out of habit. He studied the ones in particular from Thunde2rwing.

“Thunderwing has not lied, but withholds full information. He is making plans of his own, but what these plans pertain to cannot be determined without further exposure to him and concentration on my part. His new technology could cause interference as well.” He briefly glanced back at his console. “No response from Razorclaw.”

Thunderwing felt a slight tinge of relief at Blackwind’s signal. Unfortunately it was quickly dimmed by the news she had to give him. It was beginning to look like Shockwave had stocked the vessel with his supporters when no one was looking. In the meantime any other Decepticons he would want to talk with to sway to his possible side were unreachable. The entire situation was beginning to look untenable. He opened a channel in reply to the femme.

>>”I am heading to the cargo bay where we brought in my equipment. I am glad you, as always, had the foresight to investigate the other Decepticons’ leanings, even if the answer was unfavorable. At least we know now where so many stand. I will meet you in the cargo bay, but you may wish to take your time. I wouldn’t be surprised if some Decepticons are suspecting us. Both of use meeting up in the cargo bay so quickly may further arouse suspicions. Of course I am sure you can use your talents to remain unseen, if you wish.”<<

Contemptor lounged back, more at ease now with the probing tendrils that were working their way in and around his shoulder. The knives, clamps, and laser-scalpels all working in unison as they chopped, moved, and reaffixed the damaged gears and rotators that were damaged by the super-cooled nitrogen from Ironhide’s counter attack in the Iranian Desert. One that Contemptor would be sure that he would never forget, nor let Ironhide forget in due course, and whilst his thoughts turned to revenge, Contemptor let a chuckle rumble up from his vocal processor as he watched Mal Practice manipulate Vindicator’s prone form, the limbs of the Siege Master whirling in the air as the Decepticon Medic pulled, poked and dug around inside Vindicator’s cranial unit.

It was a comical sight to Contemptor, and one that he would definitely keep for posterity, a little bit of blackmail would go a long, long way – especially if listening to Psychout was anything to go by! But then again, this was the Decepticon Empire, and backstabbing, betrayal and blackmail; well it went hand in hand with being a Decepticon, so why not use it to full effect?
The truck-former slowly moved the fingers on his left hand, the motion feeling more relaxed and smoother thanks to the invasive, yet quick, surgery of the probes that Psychout had commandeered from his interface with the Med Bay’s mainframe.

“Just like rolling off the assembly line!” Contemptor remarked with a smile on his face as the tendrils slowly retracted from his shoulder, the small, but firm clamps retracted with shards of carbonised metal, some of it still frozen, and other blackened bits of aged materials, still within their grasp. “Well I’ll be a proto-form’s illegitimate progenitor...” Contemptor said as his optics focused and zoomed in on the retracting clamps, targeting the small bits of metal. “...That was the junk that was causing my shoulder discomfort? Frakking automated repair systems!” The large Decepticon grumbled darkly as he folded his arms over his chest “That’s the last time I ever let an automated repair system replace a broken limb! Especially if it’s on the Ultrax...damned ship can’t even hold itself together much less repair damaged soldiers.

All his grumbling aside – and he was pretty good at grumbling – Contemptor watched Psychout eject himself from the mainframe of the Med Bay and proceeded to make his way from the repair center, complete with a ‘shopping list’ from Mal Practice – still wrist deep in Vindicator’s brain casing.
Contemptor stood and flexed his wrist, turning it left and right whilst clenching and unclenching his fist, wriggling his fingers slowly, then rapidly. He rotated his arm at the shoulder – no grinding sound and definitely no more stiffness. Psychout was good, but when he was focused, he was fragging well excellent!

“So what’s the prognosis Doc...” Contemptor asked Mal Practice “And spare me the jargon and medical mumbo-jumbo. I might be an intelligent mechanoid, brutal and twisted too...” he paused as he looked over Mal Practice’s shoulder at the shimmering and sparking neural network that was his mentor’s brain unit. “...but when it comes to technical jargon and professional ramble or babble, then it’s over my head!” he made a swiping motion with his newly repaired left arm over the top of his head, a quirky grin on his face as he did so.

“I wonder what’s going on inside his processors right now...” Contemptor stated, half out of curiosity, half matter-of-factly as he waved his right hand over the Siege Master’s amber optics, as he slumbered.
Vindicator, lay inert, his internal memory units cycling – as if he was remembering.

“Hey Vin!” the other miner shouted over as he set the blast chargers in the adamantine rock, ready to blast out the outer metal ore to reveal more of the rich energon seams. “Move yer lumbering aft-plate outta the way or we’ll be scraping you off the mineshaft!”

“Yeah, yeah Tremolo!” The bigger mechanoid rumbled as he put down one of the mining hammers and moved over to the blast shield that was finally erected by four other miners that would keep them safe from the flying adamantine shards, proven to be lethal to Cybertronian Miners, especially to the optics for there were the few miners that were taken out, suffering from "Black Rock" - the term was struck because the black shards of adamantium ore ended up being wedged deep inside the optical units of the miners.

Vindicator, lumbering with the weight of the penta-cannons, and the pair of mining hammers, finally made his way behind the blast sheild as Tremolo finished setting the charges to break open the rock-facing. Vindicator gave the thumbs up sign and then, like the rest of the miners, braced for the impact of the detonation.

There was an audio splitting bang as the charges went off...

...There was shouting and what sounded like the clamour of voices as smoke filled the gloom of the mine. There was the limp, and inert form of one of the miners at Vindicator's feet, the dead miner's energon, splattered on the ground, and over Vindicator's right foot as the seeping flow of energon came from the fallen miner's cranial unit. The head of the miner had been staved in that much that the housing was cracked and damaged, the crainial circuits of the fallen cybertronian damaged beyond system repair. Tremolo was gone, and Vindicator was in a rage.

He picked up both his mining hammers, and in a scream of anger, Vindicator launched himself at the throng of guard's and began to demolish them one by one. The static power in the hammers making short work of their armour as the hammers, swung by the titanic Vindicator bit into the Autobot Guards. Vindicator smashed one of them in the head, lifting the guard's head from his shoulders, as he stepped through and unleashed a volly of point blank destruction from the Penta-Cannon mounted on his right arm...

Contemptor sat as he watched Mal Practice, and listened to the medic's ranting and grumbling as he continued to work away inside Vindicator's head.

"Ya know doc..." Contemptor began "...I really have no idea why i suddenly had a soft spot for a damned seeker, Hellion much less...its not like I've had to fight others off for her, or earn her affection..pft.."
The truck-former huffed as he sat back down on a comfortable chair in the med bay.

Shadowing looked at the others one last time then walked out the corridor. He was grateful for the momentary quite this act brought as it allowed him to think without distractions. He was already guessing what duties Shockwave would give him next and the likely complications he would have to face. He had only been back a short time but he could already sense that he stood near a very dangerous edge that was just about to be crossed. Whether the Decepticon cause could survive the fall he did not know. He needed more information.

He walked slowly as to give Psychout a chance to catch up. He realized that, being larger, he would tend to cover more ground as he walked.

Lost in his personal world of scheming, Psychout nearly missed Shadowing as he steped out of the Engeneering Lab. Haywire didn't acknowledge his request but Mal would soon follow-up if he didn't respond. The small mech had to run to catch up with his larger compatriot, but he kept up easily as they twisted around the maze of the Thanatos' walkways towards Shockwaves command bridge.

"Shadowing, before we meet the Commander, I need you to help me fill in a few blanks... Shockwaves announcement to the Ultrax was that he had discovered the possibility for an infinite energon source. What do you know about this? All I was able to uncover before Soundwave booted me out of the system was that it's connected to Sol 3 in some way, which explains why we haven't just strip mined the planet clean and moved on. Is there a mineral down there, or does Sol 3 have a property to generate this energy for us?"

"It means my request to Shockwave is going to be that we are sent to earth to locate whatever he needs, and keep the others away from it, whilst turning the humans against the Autobots and Rebels as a distraction. Therefore, anything you can tell me about this energy source would prove helpful."

"I have no information to give you." Said Shadowing calmly as they continued to walk down the corridor. "As I said, I only recently returned and I have not had an opportunity to be fully debriefed. If it is as you say, however, then it can only be assumed the Commander will act on it sooner rather than later."

Shadowing spoke with calm and confidence. It did not surprise him that Shockwave would be developing some sort of new technology and he knew that he would be told what he needed to know when the time came to act.

"I appreciate your desire and drive to go out and do things in the name of the Decepticon cause Psychout however I advise a little more patience especially in these complicated times." He said also in a calm tone. There was not hint of chastisement in his words just honest advice.

"I am not saying your idea does not have merit Psychout. Just allow Shockwave to speak first. No matter how much we know there is always something we are missing."

He said before the door opened. Once it did he stepped and saluted Shockwave. He hoped that Psychout would notice what he was doing and realize he should be doing the same.

"Satisfactory," Shockwave said, nodding slightly at Soundwave's report as his right arm accessed various research files that he had stored aboard the Thanatos for the time being.

"Declarative: we must now prepare for the future that not only Megatron envisioned, but so did many of us who have aligned ourselves with his vision for so long," Shockwave continued, accessing one of the small vials of energon derived from the Ore-13 compound that he had stored within his chest cavity.

"The technology I retrieved from Cybertron will assure that future. I am the logical executor of Megatron's vision," Shockwave said, holding out the vial so that Soundwave could take it if he wished. "This is why. Imperative--integrate it with your energy systems. Darkwing and Dreadwind will attest to its validity. As well as its efficacy."

Still directly patched in to the ship itself, Shockwave engaged a new series of access codes. Multiple holoscreens appeared, illuminating the bridge with various images and information regarding the Sol system, Sol-3--terrestrial designate "Earth" as well as various schematics regarding the native population's orbital technology. It was that technology in particular which currently occupied Shockwave's interest. Short of converting their own spacefleet, it was the most readily available technology that could be modified to suit the needs of the cyberforming technology. It would take considerable time and resources, but he and Megatron had acknowledged that from the beginning. Now it was just a matter of following one methodical step after the next.

As Psychout entered and Shadowing returned, Shockwave's singular optic gazed down at the more diminutive Decepticon.

"Full debriefing requested. Granting," Shockwave said, transmitting the information that Soundwave had provided to the others directly in to Psychout's neural net.

"Declarative: Starscream's cowardice only further displays his inability to command. We will locate the Ultrax and discern what has become of those aboard. Once the Seeker is disabled, those loyal to him will explore their new options--a process they are likely engaged in even as they profess their loyalty. Secondarily: Starscream's most recent missions have jeopardized the infiltration protocols. Imperative: you will discover to what extent they have been jeopardized and advise accordingly. Queries?"

Mal Practice had to admit, he loved his work. He was never happier than when he was thinking, and his best thinking was always when he elbows deep inside some unfortunate test subject. After establishing Vindicators neural motor routines were sound and the problem the large mech was having, he concluded that a personality matrix was a relatively easy fix - well, using his method was anyway - but spark downloads were risky if you didn't have the right hardware, and he was getting impatient for Haywire to respond with the dermaplace casing.

He heard Contemptor's cheerful muttering about his shoulder and kept an eye on the giant in the corner. There was still wreckage strewn across the place from his drone-killing spree and whilst he knew the Nano-Haxl, and that contemptuous little cassette, was responsible he knew exactly who would be left to clean up.

He had got as far as he could with Vindicator until Haywire had a chance to respond with the parts he needed and so Mal turned to Contemptor and responded with a sneer. "Spare you the medical mumbo-jumbo? Psychout just remotely performed a tri-lateral rotarscapulatory re-engagement, but you would prefer 'pulling junk out of an idiots shoulder'? *grumble* Fine. I will put this in 'soldiers' terms for you. Your friend here has melted his brain."

Mal held up his hand in a fist to simulate Vin's brain module. He then began to plug some imaginary wires into it. "These are the connections from the brain to the various functions of the body, different generations have different styles of connections and a different number of couplin... wires. Vindicator is an old model, hardy but none too bright. Over the centuries multiple connections have been severed or loosened in his cra... head which I have, in my brilliance, flawlessly reconnected. Due to the massive volcana-magmatic trauma... lava damage, some of his connections are so badly contused... broken , they must be replaced." He mimed pulling out most of the wires from his fist and then pointed to his index finger. "Now, imagine this is where his personality is stored." He retracted his finger into his palm but where there would normally be a scalpel replacing it, he left it empty. "This is what Vindicators brain looks like now, his personality is damaged so the data is being filled in by the other parts of his brain, mobility and memory core and so on, making it misfire and altering his personality. Therefore this 'finger' needs rebuilding..." he held up the Cerebro-shell Psychout handed him before he left "...using this."

He watched Contemptor to see if he understood what he was being told. Psychout was so much better at explaining this stuff to non-medics than him - Mal didn't need to think about what he was doing, he just... did it. That was why he was one of the foremost surgeons on Cybertron - before the Autobots forced him underground... and I will make them pay for that...

His mood darkened. "Bombshell and Psychout developed these before I defected. What those amateurs didn't realise at the time is that they can be adapted to work as brain module components. Totally illegal of course, but I somehow doubt he will be submitting himself to an Autobot medical any time soon and 'legality', in my opinion, is a hindrance to innovation."

He paused for dramatic effect before delivering the punchline...

"I will delicately access Vindicators spark, skilfully re-download his personality subroutines into this modified Cerebro-shell, flawlessly wire it into his brain module and using my incredible genius rebuild the broken connections perfectly. After that we reboot him and bask in the wonder of my incredible abilities."

He paused and basked in his own magnificence, extracted a set of micro-tools and began to modify the Cerebro-shell whilst he continued talking to Contemptor.

"...and speaking of incredible abilities, you're not the first 'con I've seen fall for a fem's wiles. We had a fair few fembot support staff back in Darkmount that Psychout couldn't keep his tiny little hands off. I probably spent half my lab time putting him back together after they had shot him, but he never learned. I don't see the point in it all myself, they just distract you from the more important things like work, not that he ever did any. Mind you, we did have one that was actually quite fond of him, heh. Don't suppose we'll ever find out what happened to her though, she was in the lab when we all went offline, but wasn't hidden under my shield like we were, so I doubt there is enough of her left to make a hubcap."

"Seekers however... well they have an ability to bring out extreme emotions in a mech and short-aft isn't immune to it either - again, something I regard as a failure in a technician. One day, remind me to tell you the real reason our little friend hates Seekers so much he was busted down from a high level psi-ops agent to a Cassette over an argument with one. Mind you, if you think his punishment was bad, you should have seen what was left of the other guy... heh."

"Here we go, that's ready." He held up the Cerebro-shell "Now where in the pit is Haywire??!"

Med Bay

Contemptor stood upright as he listened to Mal Practice explain in, his version anyway, non-medical terms of how Vindicator's cerebral trauma had affected his actions and mental attitude. It was a no brainer essentially, but with Mal Practice's rather coarse and gruff responses, it made Contemptor cross his arms over his chest, and lower his head slightly as he continued to half look, half scowl at the Decepticon Medic, and as he did so, his purple optics began to glow. Some cons took it as a sign that the big hunter was beginning to loose his cool, and that his vile, and sinister sense of humour took over, but in this case, it was a more level headed and calculated version of Contemptor that spoke.

"You really do crack me up Mal-Ware..." Contemptor spoke, his gravelly vocals bouncing around the med bay as he focused on Mal Practice. "...I said medical mumbo-jumbo, but I never expected you to treat me like I had rolled off the assembly line yesterday, or like one of those hard headed, and stubborn Predacons. I only asked because I wanted to know exactly where and what was broken inside this tin-plated lunatic, and how it was going to get fixed!"

He caught the direction that Mal Practice had slightly shifted his optics in at the heap of broken drones that Contemptor had decimated earlier thanks to the involvement of the Nano-Haxl that Psychout had gave to him. He ignored the meaning behind it, but filed it away until Mal had further finished with his explanation on how he was going to fix the broken connectors inside Vindicator's head.

"Ok so we have established the fact that, with a few things that you can gather together, you can essentially create a patch that would absolve any of Vindicator's cranial short circuits?" The truck-former unfolded his arms and then brought his hands together in a short stiff clap, the resonating clang filling the quiet of the Med Bay "Simply astonishing Mal-Ware, and a feat of medical engineering!"

Contemptor stopped and grinned at the crotchety scientist and then broke into a loud barking laugh as he turned and made his way over to the heap of broken drones, speaking to Mal Practice as he went.

"Yes I was being sarcastic Mal, you didn't really think that I would get you to explain everything so readily as if I were a protoform just out of a chamber did you? No far from it Mal..." Contemptor said as he began to scoop up the broken drones that were heaped near the door "...I wanted to see how far you would go to fill me in as to what you would do Vindicator to fix him up." He grunted as he lifted the heap of bodies and wlaked over to one of the repair tables and noisily deposited the heap of inert metal on the large slab. "You see...to get the loyalty of a pair such as Vindicator and myself, you need to be direct with us, for we don't do no smoke and mirrors, or diversionary speaches; which is why we both chose to follow megatron, and not lump in with a seeker bandit like Starscream - or as Psy favourably calls him - an over-rated delivery bot with delusions of grandeur."

Contemptor paused as he began to sort through the heap of inert metal.

"That flying rainbow had me stuck on the Ultrax before sending me down to the Iranian Desert, bit not on my own. He went with me, as if to watch over me. And..." He tugged out an intact head and studied it for a moment before continuing, his purple optics scanning the skeletal build of the drone "...I am more than certain that due to his paranoia, that poor excuse for a Decepticon bugged my terminal on the Ultrax, ensuring that he caught some of my personal vid logs as I recorded them. I just wonder how many of the others he recorded? Ah it matters not."

Contemptor materialised a serrated metal rod from a compartment on his back as a sick, shark-like grin appeared on his face plate as he turned the head of the drone to the side.
"A trophy is a trophy...no matter where its from..."

What followed, even made Mal Practice grimace as the large truck-former rammed the rod through the neck port of the drone and out through its right optic, its remaining energon and fluids spraying out in a multi-coloured arc of purple, green and black before Contemptor firmly set the trophy spike to hang from his waist.

"You know that when it comes to femmes, its a different world Mal. I don't doubt that for a second that they are a difficult lot. But when it comes to that Hellion...I don't know...something in memory about a femme similar to her a good few mega cycles ago." Contemptor stopped and then shrugged "...Ah well maybe its because I saw how ruthless she was, and that she didn;t want to give up whatsoever and..." He quickly changed tact "...yeah now that you mention it, Haywire is taking his slagging sweet time in getting that coupler to you..."

Contemptor listened further to Mal Practice's explanation of his ethics and what he perceived as legal and illegal practices as he rummaged through the broken drones to find another intact head. He came up trumps with one that was still attached to its torso, one that Contemptor had cleaved in half across the midsection, and holding it by the neck in one large hand, he dangled it infront of Mal Practice, one optic larger than the other as he questioned; "Would something from this drone's brain unit help? I know that I'm no medical specialist and - laws are meant to be broken by the way Mal, its why we exist, why genuises like yourself exist - but would it not save time waiting on Haywire?"

As the two conversed, Vindicator, still out for the count was surfing through another dream-like state as his systems had effectively been forced into sleep mode by the punch from Contemptor. He felt like he was floating, like he was communing with his inner spark, as memories passed him by like glowing spheres. Drawing his curiosity, Vindicator floated forwards and captured the orb in both his amber hands, and as he did so a bright burst of light enveloped him.

Vindicator stood over-looking one of his newly built emplacements on the hubward border of Kaon. It had taken much time and much in the way of resources, but it had to be built right. His meticulous planning, and frequent conferencing with the constructicons, Scrapper in particular, had yeilded fantastic results, and ones that were also bearing fruit! A heavy footfall turned the Siege Master's attention to the approaching decepticon, who beared a gait that was unmistakable to any and all.

"I see that your attention to detail is as it was described Vindicator!"
The tank-former turned his head over his shoulder and then fully turned to face the approaching Decepticon. Vindicator had to stop from dropping his jaw.

"Lord Megatron!..." Vindicator saluted the leader of the Decepticons as he stopped next to him on the cliff edge. "...A surprise and honour to..." He was cut short.

"I came to see how construction on this emplacement was coming." The decepticon lord stated "They have been too long in their making, and have cost much resources to build...I hope that you can vouch for your skills...old friend"

The last words were not lost on Vindicator. He knew that Megatron's patience was finite, and to test him further would not prove to be a positive move.

"I can assure you Megatron, the emplacements are almost final." Vindicator indicated with a sweep of his hand out over the northern emplacements. "The last emplacement turret is being entrenched as we speak - the hubward defences will be all but impenetrable, meaning that the fortress base of Kaon shall be untouched by Autobots...unless..." Vindicator could feel the red optics of his friend-turned-leader turn to him as he trailed off.

"...'Unless'?" Megatron replied.

"..Unless the entire Autobot army decides to decend down and try to overrun the fortress...which to them would be...suicidal"

"...hmm...Indeed...I am pleased with your progress, however slow it was Vindicator...yet you have excelled yet again."

The Decepticon leader smiled and turned on his heel and left Vindicator to oversee the final emplacement on the defences.

"...soon..Cybertron will be under total Decepticon control..."

Outside of Vindicator's mind, Contemptor and Mal Practice enganged in further conversation over the reconstruction of Vindicator's cerebral circutry, and other matters of the past, such as Psychout's demotion and what happened to the seeker in question. Contemptor picked up the bottle of triple distilled and took a swig before offering it to Mal.

"So what happened with this seeker clown? Psy spoke of it before when we were on the Ultrax, but never went into much detail about it." Contemptor grinned at the Decepticon medic "Do tell about what happened to the seeker, the grislier the better!"

Corridor Heading to the Cargo Bay

As Blackwind closed the cannel with Thunderwing her optics glinted as a devious smirk creased her lips. Finally she would have some time alone to speak with the scientist in order to determine their next course of action. The femme Seeker also wanted to discuss Thunderwing’s thoughts on just how much information he will be disclosing to the Cyclops concerning the carapace grafting process. As of now she and Thunderwing were the only living specimens. The thought sent a shiver through her frame as she continued down the corridor to the cargo bay.

Blackwind knew that she would be the first to arrive at their intended location due to her previous location in the med bay. It too was located in the lower decks of the dilapidated frigate. She hoped that their meeting would be staggered by a few breems, and since the area she was headed to was now within sight it seemed that her hope would become a reality.

Cargo Bay

Once the Arial Coordinator had arrived at the sealed Cargo Bay, Blackwind placed the palm of her hand against the recognition panel. The panel glowed bright green as the door slid apart to reveal the darkened bay. Blackwind stepped past the threshold and took a look around the immediate area.

“Lights. 50% power.”

At the femme’s command the lights flickered to life, dimly at first, but then slowly rose to their ordered level. Blackwind moved further in to the Cargo Bay as her optics adjusted to the illumination. The equipment that Thunderwing had hastily loaded in to the bay was still strapped down and in perfect condition, but she was not one to speculate. Thunderwing was the expert and would deem what was usable and what wasn’t once the scientist arrived.

Weapon: Energo-Sword
Bridge

Soundwave stared at the proffered vial with interest. He was certainly pleased to be let in on Shockwave’s most secretive of plans. It drew him closer to the other Decepticon and made him more indispensable. Being a highly trusted lieutenant had worked before with Megatron, he hoped it would work again now with Shockwave. Still, there was a part of him that did not fully trust the other Decepticon. Megatron had some misgivings about him. Of course he was likely concerned that he would make a grab for power and clearly Shockwave had nothing to do with his death, and he was certainly preferable to Starscream.

The Decepticon briefly glanced over at Darkwing and Dreadwind standing uncomfortably nearby.

“Uh yeah, the stuff works really good. Definitely gave me a nice charge, right Dread?” Dreadwind simply shook his head and placed his hand on it in embarrassment.

Soundwave opened a compartment on his arm and attached the vial to his fuel systems. The compartment slid shut as he began pumping the new additive into his systems. He was careful however to not flood his systems with it. He wanted to keep a small sample of the fuel for possible further research of his own. If Megatron did return then he wanted to have control of at least a small amount of it.

The lone visor that made up Soundwave’s only real facial feature glowed more brightly as he felt the surge of the new fuel additive. He felt stronger, faster, more powerful then he had in a long time. It was a fascinating feeling, and one that he could see easily going to the heads of some lesser Decepticons. It would have to be carefully controlled and meted out.

With the arrival of Psychout and Shadowing, Soundwave decided that his full focus would be required for the briefing. To that end he dispatched Laserbeak and Ravage to keep an eye on the other Decepticons. While Psychout was the one he mistrusted the most there were simply too many unknowns on board to be fully trusted. The two casstteicons darted out of the bridge as the other two entered.

Corridors

Thunderwing slowed his pace towards the cargo bay. He did want their arrival there to at least appear somewhat coincidental. As he walked he considered the possibilities of how to connect with Starscream’s group and to sway some of them to his side. Perhaps arranging for Blackwind to lead or be a part of a search group on the planet surface would suffice. At the very least he could hope to sway Razorclaw and perhaps Onslaught to his side. There had been some expressed interest on their part at least.

Cargo Bay

Thunderwing stepped into the room, not surprised to see the lights on and Blackwind already examining the secured cargo. He locked the door behind him as he approached her. “Well from a simple optical examination everything seems to be in order, both with the cargo and yourself.” He offered her a slight smile. “You are taking to the carapace quite well. I am impressed.”

He walked over to the cargo and began unlatched the restraints and unpacking it. “So is there any hope for the other Decepticons on board or are they fully under Shockwave’s sway? I had hoped there would be at least some cracks, as I am sure there are among Starscream’s group.” He let out a sigh. “Of course the best candidates are now likely down on Earth. Razorclaw and Onslaught both seemed a bit more independent from the other masses. We may have to figure out some way to contact them again.”

Bridge

Shadowing stood and listened to Shockwave speak. As he did so he could not help but feel a sense of deja vu. It seemed like this same scene has replayed itseld again and again throught the ages. Different locations, different cast of characters, different tasks but always the same scenario. Shockwave had a problem that he needed solved and he would do it. There was something deeply sad about that. This was hardly the time for philosophy however.

"Sir, what is known about the stance of the other leadership figures within the Decepticons in this matter?"

Shadowing was never one to remain soley at the moment. Starscream was a jighly dangerous foe but he was also only a part of the equation. Before targeting a player he wanted to know just who was sitting at the table.
