Repair Bay

The CR Chamber containing Hellion had no sooner been loaded onto a gurney when a terrific crash came within a micron of startling Patchwork into spilling the precious device and its current occupant onto the deck plating. She looked sharply at the table upon which she’d left the damaged Runabout, to discover the Battlecharger attempting to extricate himself from a heap of mercifully empty storage crates. Runamuck, in a rare and yet somehow extremely irritating show of filial loyalty, abandoned the Decepticons in stasis to see to his upended sibling.

“I’ll give you ‘oops’, you slag-headed speed bump of a broken-down jalopy,” the medical engineer muttered darkly, striding past Runamuck and yanking the control pad from his grip as she went. “Scorponok’s skidplate, for two energon chits I swear I’d toss you both out the closest air lock …”

She took hold of Runabout beneath his arms and extracted him from the mess he’d made, depositing him carefully upon the repair table once more. She wasn’t particularly angry with either him or his brother just then, despite the distraction. That kind of thing came with the job. If pressed, Patchwork would have been forced to admit that what she was really feeling was anxiousness and uncertainty. There was no telling how long she would have to get her equipment moved safely, and no way of knowing what was waiting on the surface. All that uncertainty was aggravating her naturally curt disposition.

“If we weren’t in the middle of a ship-wide evacuation, I’d have sedated him,” she told Runamuck tersely. “As it is, we need him up and mobile, and in any case the two infusions would interact violently. Just concentrate on keeping an eye on him—or better yet, try and get him to the bounce chamber and ready to go. The more he overdoes it, the faster the enriched energon will be depleted. If he goes into full systems shutdown before he’s off Ultrax, we may end up having to add his spark to the storage unit to cut down on the dead weight.”

It wasn’t the kindest way to frame the situation, but in Patchwork’s experience it was better to lay things out as plainly as possible. Platitudes and pleasantries would do nothing to keep any of them online at a time like this.

Her expression set grimly behind the metal plate that concealed her features below her optics, the femme turned her attention to the stasis pods. If the sparks could be extracted quickly enough, perhaps there would be time to make backup copies of the quiescent Decepticons’ memories before the ship was abandoned.

Ramjet emptied another cup full of synthetic Energon, the bitter taste washing down his throat. He sat there, mind chewing on recent events, the most troubling being that the entire ship was to be literally dismantled in a few minutes. But that would have to wait for his other problems. The fate of his leadership hangs in the balance of these next few solar-cycles.

Thankfully, Ramjet has been known to hold his liquor fairly well so he got up from the table and strode away from the room to the Bounce Chamber. Headache thumping at the back of his cranium. Due to his disability, the pain was bearable and it soothed him because of his fondness to pain.

Wandering the halls in the direction of the Bounce Chamber, Ramjet was pondering on how he would pull leadership from the candidates. Murder in their recharge? Too risky. Planting a bug in their personal quarters for blackmail? Too obvious and unoriginal. Rise above the ranks with a small army and take the ship by storm? Hmm.

But how? He needed someone dumb enough to join him, someone who would follow his command no questions asked, someone who he didn't tick off for some reason.

That narrows it down to Dirge, Thrust, Thundercracker, Waspinator and maybe Scrapper. Great. We wouldn't last five minutes against everyone on the Thantos like that, not to mention there is the Obliteration to give reinforcements... Ramjet thought as he entered the Bounce Chamber, breath smelling of Synthetic Energon.

Bounce Chamber

Ramjet walked in just in time to see Nightraven kiss Skywarp, it was something Ramjet missed seeing. There wasn't much time for romance in war and politics. A pity.

He leaned against the wall to just watch, smile creeping on his faceplate. He didn't speak or make a noise, he just began to think what it must be like with someone who actually cares about you.

How... Depressing.

Medical Bay

Waspinator's wings buzzed with a small bit of irritation at the response given by Patchwork, apparently she didn't care for a bit of conversation to calm everyone's nerves.

"Patch-bot don't care about Wazzpinator..." Waspinator said in a quiet tone, barely audible below the cacophony of the Med Bay, "No one care about Wazzpinator..."

Waspinator huffed as he walked across the room and transformed into his tiny wasp mode and landed on top of some cabinets, looking around the room with his compound insect eyes, he just listened and watched everyone muddle about their busyness.

He took off again and flew around the room and landed on the shoulder of Patchwork and rode around on her shoulder.

Like the rest of his team-mates silently slipping out of the bounce chamber to receive much-needed repairs, Wildrider followed suit. It seemed as if fortune decided to shine down upon them; Motormaster had not detected their prompt departure. Not yet.

If Wildrider didn't give them away owing to some sort of ridiculous impulse he just had to entertain, then Motormaster most certainly would pay them a visit later. It was inevitable, really, a simple fact he had learned fast. He began to wonder why he and his brothers attempted to avoid what was predetermined.

Then he stopped. Ugh. He was sounding like Dead End far more than he preferred to.

Wildrider did giggle at his dour team-mate's remark, though; it could be awarded with that much. Silly Dead End... Always complaining about everything, and always exuding an aura of perpetual negativity. He was good value, ultimately. He and his accompanying gloom.

And so was Drag Strip. In a different way but still great value. Silly Drag Strip... He always fell for it when Wildrider challenged his superiority.

“You probably think I look bad, Draggy.” And indeed he did. “But you should see the 'Bot I whomped. Oh, yeah! I bet those morons don't even recognise him anymore.”

A blatant lie, but it was necessary. Drag Strip's gloating would never cease if Wildrider had revealed the truth to him. But then again, his deplorable appearance didn't exactly provide the strength and support the lie needed.

What the slag was wrong with half of the 'cons Motormaster had run into ever since he had returned to Ultrax? First Vindicator and now Razorclaw too? Razorclaw! Since when had Razorclaw spoken to him for more than few words at time? The stoic leader of the Predacons was hardly known for being chatty. Before Motormaster managed to reply however, Starscream's voice took over the bridge.

"We can do that?! Didn't you claim the transwarp cell was spent until we could recharge the ship? Tell me we can do that!" Starscream's piercing voice assaulted the audio receptors of every Decepticon on board the bridge of Ultrax, though it was aimed at Motormaster. There was clear aggravation in his voice but it was only to be expected given how the Stunticon thug had failed to update him properly earlier. The situation was also far from ideal. If the Predacons chose to turn on him, even Motormaster's power would save him here. The possibility of being blown up by Thanatos felt no better. Nor meeting Shockwave on the cyclops' own terms in a scenario where Shockwave clearly held an advantage.

"Yeah about that." Motormaster began, rubbing the back of his head, still bit taken back by all the new information fed to him. "I think we have juice for one or two interplanetary warps."

If the glare from Starscream's optics had been piercing earlier, now it was starting to get intense enough to cut through steel. Yet, instead of letting his frustration show like earlier, he nodded in response to Motormaster's explanation and was met by approving nod from the large Stunticon. It seemed Motormaster was more willing to do what Razorclaw had suggested than deal with Shockwave now. Truth be told, so was Starscream. It was a gamble but meeting Onslaught and Razorclaw in the manner like this and with both clearly working independently from Shockwave, the risk felt better than the other options that had crossed his mind. Trusting Scrapper and Soundwave earlier hadn't really been any less of a gamble. Turning towards Razorclaw, Starscream addressed the Predacon commander again. "Shockwave can wait, don't you think?"

Having said that, the red, white and blue seeker activated his comm-link to the Decepticons inside Ultrax. >>"Decepticons! Earlier evacuation orders have been cancelled. Cut the remaining CR chambers from Ultrax's powergrid and prepare for a transwarp jump. We will have a rough landing ahead of us."<<

"Shockwave may not be able to track us underwater Razorclaw. But don't think for an astrosecond that Soundwave hasn't left a tracking device hidden somewhere into this ship." Starscream spoke up, continuing, "The moment we go into the rift we will have to create a null-field around the ship. I realize it cripples the Ultrax and we will go down like a rock once the ship exists the rift. Not to mention that everyone on board will be knocked out and rebooted. But do we really have any other choice to disable possible tracking devices planted to the ship?"

"If you mean what you have been telling me, do this."

“Look, Dead, I…uh…think I’ll go with you to the med bay. Besides we’re safer in numbers, right?” Breakdown had said. Dead End had chuckled a little--only a little--and shook his head in response.

"If that thought helps you to recharge each cycle, you go right ahead," Dead End said, having traversed the corridors of the Stunticons' personal ship and now stepping in to the familiar walls of the Med Bay. How many times had Dead End become personally acquainted with the inner workings of this particular room? More times than he wanted to count, honestly.

He was about to head in to one of the chambers when Starscream's distinctive voice came through on his internal comm system. Well, that was something at least. Dead End hadn't felt like evacuating the ship to begin with. Not until he patched this slagging hole that Sunstreaker had given him, and worked out whatever leg kink he had earned in that battle.

He looked over at one of the CR chambers, aching to get inside and rest for a while. But not if Starscream was about to do something that might well kill them all. Did they even have the juice to pull off what the Seeker was wanting them to do?

Sighing, Dead End walked over to one corner of the room and crouched down, paying no heed to the other Decepticons that were currently occupying the area. If he was going to die, he wanted to die comfortable.

The latest announcement from Starscream froze Patchwork in place. She’d thought it peculiar that Dead End and the other Stunticons had begun trickling in when there was supposed to be an evacuation order in effect, but this clinched it. If it would not have been a violation of her professional standards—which were about all she had to cling to, since being pressganged into the glorious Decepticon army—she almost certainly would have begun hurling invective in every direction.

As it was, she practically sprinted to her work station control panel to disengage the CR chambers as ordered. The minor comfort of knowing she would now be able to salvage more of the valuable technology than she’d previously expected was more than offset by host of new problems now confronting her.

“No no no no no no no,” chanted Patchwork disbelievingly to herself. She was going to have to work quickly to mitigate the potential disaster inherent in having half the bay packed for transport when facing what the Seeker Commander had described as a “rough landing”. In the parlance of this faction, with its unequaled gift for understatement, that could mean only one thing. They were about to crash.

She threw the storage unit containing the extracted sparks of Ultrax’s dormant passengers into the stasis pod recently evacuated by Psychout, then filled the rest of the mech-sized interior with fire-suppression gel from the wall-mounted extinguisher. With a little luck, the semiliquid would cushion the stored sparks against the worst of the impact. The pod itself was shielded against electromagnetic and null effects, so at least that wouldn’t be a concern. There was going to be one Pit-awful cleaning job ahead of her, though.

There was no time to re-secure the two CR chambers she had managed to prep for the bounce to the surface—at least, not conventionally. Patchwork hurried to her packed toolkit, from which she withdrew a plasma blowtorch. This would be a crude solution at best, and was also likely to entail a great deal of additional labor later to rectify, but they were many light years away from perfect answers just then.

She quickly moved the chamber containing Hellion to the floor and began welding the exterior casing directly to the deck plating. The battery pack was already in place, so at least she wouldn’t have to be concerned with the thing losing power. Probably.

All things considered, she had preferred it when Motormaster had been in charge. At least he was consistent. And not terribly given to frantic pronouncements that tended to throw her world into chaos.

Repair Bay - Spaz Out sessions galore

Runabout was flailing around the repair bay, and as a result, was causing more damage than usual as empty crates were knocked over and some contents spilled about the floor of the repair bay. None of this did anything to ease Patchwork's pain or stress levels. Mind you, having to single-handedly tear the repair bay apart for instant evacution really really wasnt a good one either, and Runamuck saw it in Patchwork's optics. Well it was that, and the fact that she had chewed him out for simply making sure his miscreant of a brother didn't demolish the place with his bungling.

Runamuck moved over to where his dullard of a brother was laying in a heap. The concentrated energon was making him more hyper by the nano-click. It was becoming hard to think about what to do, and hard to do anything unless Runabout was nailed down onto something immovable, and right now finding something not permanently fixed down on the Ultrax was pretty difficult as half the repair bay was disassembled and the majority of the Ultrax was falling apart around everyone.

Runamuck took a more practical route with trying to chill out his over-energised sibling.

"Hey Runabout..." Runamuck said, partially exasperated with the bungling of his black and red twin "...how about we go for a turbo drive in one of the less used areas of this junk-ship? It might be beneficial, and get us out of Patchwork's way..."

"Yeah that sounds like a plan bro...I could race this ship five times over and even go against Dragstrip and....whoa..." another powersurge wafted through Runabout, and none more embarrasingly so as when the Stunticons - sans Motormaster - arrived peacemeal into the repair bay. Runamuck facepalmed himself...again.

"yeah come on petrol-breath..." Runamuck grumbled as he dragged Runabout out of the repair bay by the arm and into the hallway.

"...It looks clear here..." Runamuck said as he looked up and down the vast expanse of the corridor, before he transformed into his white and siver Mustang 302 alternate mode and began to rev his engine. "..come on lug nuts... how about it.. lets see how much you have in you and see if you can beat me Runabout!"

There was a cough and a laugh of arrogance before Runabout shut his visor plate over his mouth again.

"Yeah right! You couldn't beat the timer on a garbage chute Runamuck!" Runabout boasted as he transformed into his Black and Red Mustang Boss 302 and revved his engine.

"LETS SEE WHAT YA GOT!" Runabout screamed as his tyres spun out, filling the hallway with burnout smoke. Runamuck followed suit with his tyres, and with a howl of engines they were off down the hallway.

Runamuck hoped that they didn't smash into anyone or anything important.

Rampage watched the interaction between Starscream, Motormaster and his own unit commander Razorclaw with keen interest, his optical focus darting from one to the other while the rest of his body remained perfectly still, taking it all in.

When Starscream began barking out orders to those aboard this Stunticon heap, Rampage walked over to one of the bridge terminals and began to access some of the ship's core information. Whatever trick Motormaster had in mind to pull off, Rampage would assist if he could. His support of Razorclaw's moves for leadership would do the Predacon warrior little good if they all went down in a blaze of glory.

Razorclaw watched and listened as a surprised Starscream questioned Motormaster about being able to do what the Predacon Commander had suggested. The brutish Stunticon leader quickly confirmed that the Ultrax did, in fact, have just enough power to generate a transwarp field or possibly two. Of course, only one would be needed as they weren’t traveling a great distance and only to the planet below. Pleased with the explanation he had received, the Seeker Commander sent out a ship wide communique, canceling the previous call for evacuation and warning everyone of a rough landing to come.

Starscream then explained to the Predacon leader the necessity of also creating a null field around the ship once they had entered the rift in order to ensure that any potential tracking devices left behind by Soundwave would be disabled. Naturally, that also meant every Decepticon on board would loose consciousness and be subsequently rebooted. However, it was something that had to be done and Razorclaw knew it all too well.

“Understood, Commander Starscream,” the Predacon leader replied once the order had been given to proceed. Razorclaw then moved across the room and took a seat in the pilot’s chair where he quickly gained access to the frigate’s transwarp system. Once all available power had been rerouted to the primary warp drive, Razorclaw then set the coordinates of their intended destination above Sol-3’s Pacific Ocean. If all went according to plan, the Ultrax would simply crash into the water and sink to the bottom. Of course, the ship was a dump to say the least, so one could only hope and pray to Primus that it would hold together.

“I suggest everyone find a seat quickly,” Razorclaw stated plainly as he turned in his chair to face everyone present, including his own Predacons. “Once the rift is opened, I will guide the frigate inside and then initiate the null field. Be ready.” The Predacon Commander then swiveled his chair back around so he was facing the pilot’s terminal once again. After punching a few more buttons on the controls, the hyperdrive hummed to life deep within the bowels of the Decepticon vessel. Mere astroseconds passed before the intense light of a transwarp rift appeared on the primary view screen, filling the bridge with a almost blinding glow. The rift’s position was directly between the Ultrax and the Thanatos, blocking the Predacons’ former warship from sight. Of course, that also meant Shockwave could no longer see the Stunticon scrapheap, either.

“Here we go! Brace yourselves!” Razorclaw bellowed as he took the controls in his taloned hands and quickly guided the Ultrax into the wormhole. The rundown frigate shuddered violently as it passed across the threshold before disappearing into the brilliant white light. The rift then closed behind them, leaving only empty space where the Ultrax once was. Within the realm of hyperspace, itself, the Predacon Commander initiated a null field around the ship. It was the last thing he remembered doing before blacking out and slumping over in his chair. Fate would now guide them the rest of the way.

Corridors

Nightraven’s assurances that her sister would not come after him provided Skywarp with little to no real comfort. Unfortunately, while Nighty could say that all she wanted, at the end of the cycle she no more could control Hellion than he could. The berserker would do what she wanted when she wanted and would attack whomever got in her way, especially the teleporter.

As they continued down the corridor towards the bounce chamber, Nightraven halted her advance and faced him, looking him square in the optics. She pleaded with him to stop torturing himself over what happened down in the Iranian Desert. In her opinion, the job he had done was more than adequate, especially for a first time field commander. She made her case, citing the amount of energon they had procured and Skywarp couldn’t help but agree. The prankster finally nodded as she stepped closer to him and placed her hand on his forearm. That was followed by the reward she had mentioned earlier, a quick peck on his cheek that made his circuits spark.

“I...um...thanks, Nighty,” were the only words Skywarp could utter as she gestured for him to follow her to the bounce chamber. “Yeah, we don’t want to keep Screamer waiting, do we?” The quick kiss, if it could even be called that, was satisfying to the teleporter. He hadn’t expected that, nor had he ever really experienced such a show of affection from any femme. His prankster ways had all but ensured that most would only view him as a joke, but Nightraven had finally seen a different side to him, one he hoped to show her again. Although, he’d rather not be in command the next time and simply show his usefulness as a warrior on the battlefield.

Bounce Chamber

As the two seekers entered the room, Starscream’s new orders echoed over their comm lines. The evacuation had now been cancelled it seemed. “Hmmm, I wonder what changed all of a sudden,” Skywarp wondered aloud as he noticed the presence of Ramjet nearby. The Stunticons had all but filed out of the room and neither Motormaster nor Starscream were even present. “Well, I guess we came down here for nothing, didn’t we?”

Skywarp paused for a moment as he felt a strong shudder pass through the frigate. Once it had stopped, he looked over at Nightraven again. “Did you feel that? I guess we've entered hyperspace, but....” The prankster’s vocals trailed off as darkness suddenly consumed him from within. He fell to the floor as his systems began shutting down one at a time. The effects of the null field had hit him as it eventually would every other crew member of the Ultrax.

Corridor Outside Bounce Chamber

Drag Strip snickered at Wildrider’s assertion that the Autobot he had been fighting, whomever it was, looked far worse then he did. The terrorist was simply trying to save face in the awkward situation he now found himself in. Drag had clearly done a better job down at the refinery. His grey comrade just did not want to give him the credit he so richly deserved.

“Yeah, I’m sure the Autobots will recognize him as the one who kicked your aft plate, ‘Rider! Ha ha!” Drag Strip joked with a hearty laugh as they passed by Skywarp and Nightraven, who were both heading into the bounce chamber. It was then that Starscream’s change of orders came in over their comm lines. “Abandon ship? I didn’t know Screamer had ordered that. Must’ve been before we bounced back up here. Well, I’m not surprised that it was cancelled. Motormaster would never go along with abandoning this ship. Not ever! I guess he told Screamer a thing or two, huh?” The yellow Stunticon then patted Wildrider on the shoulder. “Well, I guess repairs will have to wait until we’ve landed. Lucky for me I’m not in too bad a shape unlike yourself. I could hold your hand if you want me.....”

Drag Strip’s optics then went dark as his body slumped down to the floor in a yellow heap. The effects of the null field had reached him. He would eventually reboot like everyone else on board. However, that would not occur before the Ultrax emerged from the other end of the rift and likely not before the frigate plummeted into depths of the Pacific Ocean.

Fluttering his wings, Waspinator held fast to Patchwork's shoulder, slipping several times on the slender shoulder's armor plating.

It was then that he heard the engines fire up. He listened for a few seconds, they weren't going into warp... No... This was a Transwarp!

Waspinator yelled out as he held tighter to Patchwork's shoulder, "Decepti-bots should brace-!"

He saw blackness, all around him. Nothing more, nothing less. He had experienced this before, all he needed to do is wait.

Ramjet walked up to Skywarp and Nightraven after Skywarp's rather abrasive acknowledgement of his presence. Ramjet needed to apologize for his actions before, they were foolish and unbecoming of a leader.

"Look," Ramjet said as he began to feel hot inside, it wasn't every solar cycle he did this kind of thing, "I'm sorry. I acted immaturely and it was not my place to challenge you."

Ramjet was taking a serious blow to his ego. Although, it was necessary to mend their relationships as friends.

"I'm also sorry if I caused harm to you, I-" Ramjet was in the middle of his stammering apology to Nightraven when his gyro stabilizers went dark.

He tried to gain his balance back, but it was as if the whole ship was upside down. He stumbled and fell to the ground where he was left unconscious by the sudden Transwarp away from orbit.

Nightraven moved slightly to let Drag Strip and Wildrider pass by as she and Skywarp entered the bounce chamber. The order to abandon ship was strange to begin with, but when Starscream cancelled said order Nightraven flashed Skywarp a confused look. What in the Pit was going on? Before she was able to voice her concerns, Ramjet made his presence known.

Not wanting a confrontation between the conehead and Skywarp, Nightraven stepped between the two. She then looked over her shoulder at the teleporter as she too felt the strong shudder pass through the ship. Her attention was brought back to Ramjet as it seemed he was trying his best to apologize for the altercation in the repair bay. Trying, but falling far short.

At that moment the white and maroon conehead stopped mid-sentence and fell to the floor unconscious. With a concerned expression plastered on her face, Nightraven looked back over her shoulder in time to see Skywarp fall to the floor as well.

“Sky…”

Her concern faded as her systems began to shut down. Unable to stay upright any longer the femme’s body fell to the floor in an unceremonious heap between Ramjet and Skywarp. With any luck their trek to the surface would be over quickly and everyone onboard would be back online sooner rather than later.

Med Bay

Breakdown continued to follow closely behind Dead End as both mechs entered the med bay. He grew nervous when the Stunticon warrior pull ahead and made his way to one of the CR chambers but he never entered it. Breakdown quickened his pace while he kept his attention on all of the mechs and equipment scattered about the area.

With his optics preoccupied with his surroundings, Breakdown’s advance was halted when he slammed into Dead End’s back.

“Oof! Ssssorry,Dead.”

The white and blue mech looked up at the ceiling as the announcement from Starscream came through the ship wide comm system. Not only did it have the paranoid Stunticon’s processor reeling, but his entire frame began to vibrate. Optics wide in fear and uncertainty, Breakdown looked down to Dead End as his team mate crouched down as close to the floor as possible.

“D…do ya really think we’r…”

Breakdown’s sentence ceased as the ship entered its transwarp jump and the null field took effect. The scout’s optics grew dark as he hit the floor with a resounding thud.

Runabout and Runamuck tore down the vacant halls of the Ultrax at speeds that would make humans loose the contents of their stomachs, or black out from the pressure. It wasn't a race to see who was the best, or who was the more superior built battlecharger, it was to get the concentrated energon out of Runabout's system so that he wouldn't do any harm to anyone else, let alone himself.

Runamuck had fallen behind his more juiced up brother, but he wasnt caring because the sooner that the pure energon was gone from his system, the more he could breath and...

...well that was interesting. There was a shudder that ran through the entire ship and the next thing Runamuck knew...well, that was it he was out cold.

Runabout had registered that his brother had fallen very far behind in the battle-dash, and slid to a stop and hailed his brother. He didn't know what was about to happen.

"Hey bro.. why'd you stop?" Runabout began "not getting tired already? Seriously you can just..."

And that was it. Runabout had went out like a light, and had fallen idle in the middle of one of the Ultrax's corridors as the command of Starscream had taken full effect.

Rampage had helped monitor the ship's systems as best he could for as long as he could, before stepping away and taking a more braced position as Razorclaw had ordered.

From a slight distance, Rampage still kept his optics on the various readouts and could see null field being prepared.

"We meet on the other side," Rampage said, consciously shutting off his own optics and wondering if it might have been for the last time. It wasn't long after that before the effects of the null field kicked in and Rampage slid the rest of the way down to the ground, unconscious.

Dead End hadn't let it bother him when Breakdown practically ran him down.

Not too much.

"Another dent that's going to take forever to buff out of my finish. Why don't you..."

Dead End didn't finish his complaint, as Starscream's voice soon captured their attention. Breakdown didn't even have a chance to get his next sentence out before the effects of whatever they were doing on the bridge took hold. Dead End found himself in a similar position. He felt a jerk of momentum, before his optics went dark and his systems shut off.

"Just grea...." he had managed to sputter, before slumping over to one side.
