I think you'll find it has less to do with motivation and more to do with moving onto other things that are actually updated.
This, mostly. Been rather busy of late, not to mention Seibertron was actually blocked where I used to work. Besides, I've been having more fun with games like STO and TOR, which, like Burn said, are usually updated (for better or for worse).
I'm was kind of in the same boat. Between the time I fell off a few years ago to the time I came back a few weeks ago, I've graduated college, gotten a job and moved to a new town, bought a house, made bank and got married. It's been an eventful time, to say the least.
That said, now that I'm back, my desire to play is still pretty strong. I think that has to do with the fact I never got very far in the game even before the big reset. I'm still pretty much in the same position I was then - slogging it out at the lower levels (Level 2 currently). So I'm still driven to keep playing to get my 'Bots even stronger so I can experience the higher end of the game.
While I do pine for more players to get into missions with/against, these past few weeks have ironically been the most productive I've ever had. Don't know what the future holds, but my Spartans are gonna be here for a while.
