primus certainly hasnt seen as much action as unicron. but the takara 2010(?) releases sure are pricey these days.triKlops wrote:Agreed about Encore Bruticus; I would put the rerelease of Primus in as well.

for me its:
encore bruticus- with all the versions of him out there, i didnt think he'd disappear like he did.
botcon beast wars- originally passed because of the price. now.... its doubled...
brave maximus- i wasnt even in the market for things like this at the time, but with the encore fort max and warden, im just drooling over brave max now...

thats an arguement i really dont understand. FP's bruticus upgrade doesnt take away from G1 nostalgia. if thats a persons reasoning then why collect anything G1?fenrir72 wrote:On Encore Bruticus, he has some justifiable bad rep and I remember a couple of posts (not from this site anyway) disparaging the release over it's not worth owning since the release of FP Colossus. Well surprise surprise, 2ndary market for him is up the roof. Though on my part, got him for the finally owning a complete set.
Mark my word, the next item people will be kicking themselves in the buTT is Encore 20A, aka anime Devastator. The Floro Dery style head, new hues, Diaclone arms and extra paint apps to emulate his anime appearance seems to be unappreciated (Tomy was kind of at fault for not releasing him as Encore 20 in the 1st place)but I noticed lately that it is quite hard to find him in Japanese online stores that cater to the 2ndary market.
shajaki wrote:and i dont understand the underselling of the anime devastator. i have him and hes brilliant. i almost wanted a second one just to display the individual bot modes, cause those new paint apps on their heads are amazing. i picked mine up on sale at bbts for 99... now theyre out of stock.

Definitely the 2010 Takara Primus.
Powermaster Optimus Prime and Sixshot reissues.
ROTF Leader Jetfire, Buster Prime and Megs, 2007 movie Brawl leader class. Battle blades Bumblebee
Beast Wars.
I'm sure there's more too

I don't get it, either - its a wonderful reissue. Those that know me will know I avoid reissues like the plague, as I often find them not quite up to muster compared to a true original (thinner plastics, dodgy stickers ECT).
Whilst 20A had a problem with mine - it was otherwise a lovely purchase. Maybe if I'd bought it as a toy, I'd have been a little worried (the plastic is a little sharper than my originals and it feels lighter), but since its little more than a display piece - I love it. And yes.. I bought it for the head.
Mine was £60 including TRACKED and insured shipping from china. Crazy cheap. (and definitely legit, too)
MightyMagnus78 wrote:I know you have your reasons A, which I fully respect. However I love those reissues. For me it's the thrill of opening a brand new G1 toy for the first time and smelling that new toy smell (especially if it has rubber tyres). I never had many TF's growing up so I like the fact that it's 'untouched'.
I did get the regular encore Devy release and he is flawless no QC issues at all. I was tempted with the anime version but funds are tight and I really, really want to get that reissue Fort Max by the end of the year before he gets ridiculously expensive.

personally, id just get him. but it wouldnt be a complete loss if you waited and missed out. i mean, a couple years down the line you might have to pay a premium of 10-20 bucks. but thats not the end of the world. what was (nearly) the end of the world for me was paying 210 for a henkei dinobot recently. generations rhinox wont be impossible to find... for a while...dirk2243 wrote:I'm actually looking at being on that side of the fence now. I really do not collect the beast wars stuff and maximals but this new Rhinox is putting me on the fence. A target by me has four and I was looking it over. Very nice, but I am trying not to break away from what I want my collection to be.
and actually, my anime devastator's mixmaster had a broken arm. which really sucked. i just kinda shrugged cause he was going to be combined for display anyways. but yeah... the old saying "they dont make em like they used to" really rings true.Amelie wrote:I don't get it, either - its a wonderful reissue. right there with you. my G1 collection will be everything reissued for that reason. as for the non-reissues i havent decided... im thinking i want sealed bubbles but thats going to make things very expensive...MightyMagnus78 wrote:I love those reissues. just thought of something else... display stands for primus and unicron. they were cheap and easy to find so i didnt worry about it. NOW? good luck.
