Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
I assume that they are the same size in this battle.

In that case:
Comic Grimlock would slaughter Dinobot
Cartoon Grimlock is way too retarded to win this.

What advantage in intelligence??

According to the tech specs on both, Gimlock is much smarter then Dinobot.

Keep in mind, the g1 toon is the only place Grimlock was depicted as stupid.

He was depicted in the IDW Beast Wars continuity as fairly dumb also.

Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
IDW Beast Wars was written by Furman, Furman always depicts Grimlock with his late Marvel G1 personality.

Exactly.

Which isint dumb by far.

Unless you think being too aggressive is dumb, which is sort of true.

Lets see... Grimlock almost took down magmatron who was barely defeated by transmetal Megatron. Dinobot was slain by a few preds. So really it is up in the air, but I have to say that grimlock went into stasis while dinobot was killed so point goes to grimlock

Um, unless I'm mistaken maximals were smaller than autobots. Grimlock could just step on dinobot.

Yup. Not to mention that even if they are the same size, even cartoon Grimlock has advantage in weapons. In dino mode, he could breath fire, which is extremely effective against the synth-flesh cover of Dinobot.
In robot mode, Grimlock is better equipped on long-range fights (rocket launcher and double-barelled gun against... eye lasers?)
Melee: Dinobot has the spinning "shield" and the rapier, but Grimlock has his Energo-sword, which I presume is more dangerous (it's effectively a lightsaber vs. a normal blade fight)

I'm sure I did this one before. Grimlock is a T. Rex so he has the strongest jaw design. Dinobot can't compete in terms of strength. Grimmy wins.
