There's always someone who just can't let people enjoy the other series like Beast Wars, Animated, or the movies. I'd like to remember it as that cartoon I loved when I was 4 or 5 and leave it at that. But because it's been shoved down my throat so much it's starting to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Well, what if one's ancestry consisted of murderers, criminals, villains, and utterly wicked and disgraceful people?cagey wrote:Anyway, hating G1 is like hating your ancestry. Who does that? "Good job" if you hate G1.

Toyline-wise, that would be 1990 (for the U.S. more toys were made until 1992 in Europe and Japan).Mykltron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:82? The toys/comics/show didn't begin until 84.Mykltron wrote:With a poor cartoon and poor toys that didn't evolve much between 82 and 88
Not a perfectly clear sentence structure, it seems! The G1 cartoon was poor. The toys didn't evolve between 82 (Diaclone, Microman) and the end of G1 - whenever that was.

Well, by today's standard, yes, it would be viewed as poor (especially with AKOM's low level of quality control).vectorA3 wrote:Ouch. If the G1 cartoon was so "poor" - TF in general would've washed up & disappeared long ago. (You can tell he's a Go Bot fan ) We're on the brink of the 30 year anniversary!!

But by 1980's standards, however, it was cutting edge, top of the line, best of the best they had to offer. Grade A material for the time.
Then again, I guess that shows just how far standards have come since then.

But G1 is cheesy. Its 80's cheese is part of its charm.skynet1O1 wrote:I have a coworker who just recently got into the TF universe and is a huge fan of the Prime series cartoon. Anyone who doesn't think G1 is cheesy is fooling themselves.
