Does anyone else want a third equally powerful side to appear in a transformers series for once?

I know that we've seen it happen with some of the Transformers series but I'd like to see something done little different. For example I heard about a group of transformers called Nails I think it would be interesting to for them to appear in a series even as a opposition to the Autobots and Deceptions. Heck in a series Nails could be made into rogue transformers.

The reason I'd like for them to appear is because really the classic Bot vs Con angle is a little stale. Besides it would be interesting if Optimus displayed a level of resentment going as far as to say "Nails are nothing but deserters and are worse Decepticons. Leave them to die they are nothing to us." and Megatron displayed this sort of attitude "I have no problem with Nails so long as they stay out of my way."

Also I'd really like to see a Transformer that bad mouths both the leader ship of Megatron and Optimus and both the Bots and Cons. Saying things like.

A Nail when asked who he answers to Optimus or Megatron could say "I don't answer to either of those two pieces of scrap."

A Nail confronting Optimus could even argue that both he Megatron are unfit to lead their race like so. "Megatron wasn't the only one that led an army Optimus you did to and because you could never put aside your differences we lost our planet and now our race might face extinction so for give me oh great Prime if I have interest in taking a side."

Even an evil Nail trying to take out all the big fish would make a compelling villain with the line "Don't you idiots get it I just want this war to be over and that's why Megatron and Optimus have to die. Those two stopped being leaders to us if they ever were the moment we lost Cybertron."

But if they were to appear as a group I'd love for the leader to be a former student of Optimus that follows his ideals and genuienly wants to rebuild their planet but twists and warps Optimus's ideals.

You really should pick up the current crop of comics ...

I'd love to but I have no idea where to get any. Judging by your post I'm guess Nails are pretty much like I'd like to see them as depicted in a cartoon series.

I don't mind Autobots vs. Decepticons, I just wish they'd change the lineups a little from one series to the next. I mean, movieverse, TFA and Prime all seem like they have the same line up for the Autobots, with minor background character variations. I want to see a series where we get an all-new cast, except maybe Prime and Megatron, but they should also become background characters after a while. Personally, I'd love to see Grimlock be actually in charge of the Autobots, or even resurrecting Fort Max as he was in the comics, not just a giant citybot, but an actual regular-size functioning Transformer.

It would be nice if a third faction's symbol wasn't an Autobot/Decepticon fusion. ;)

But of course. The next thing we'll get is a Maximal-Predacon fusion. :-(

First I heard "Maxicons," I thought of Jon Bailey's Optimus Prime's "Maxipads!" quote.

What are these star seekers?
Also Beast Wars had the Unicron Preds and the Decepticon strain of Preds.

The Star Seekers are a crew of space pirates. They are headed by Thundertron, who due to his hate of Cybertronians, leads them in their spacecraft, the Tidal Wave, to hunt down any and all Cybertronians they can find.

They consist of:

*Thundertron
*Cannonball
*Brimstone
*Axer
*Sandstorm

They are part of the Aligned Continuity family.

Er, NAILs are "Non-Aligned Indigenous Life-forms" who were Cybertronians that despised the war and left Cybertron to get away from it. They are not a faction, but a large group of civilians, pacifists, deserters (from both sides), and moral objectors. The terms "Evil" and "Decepticon" cannot apply to them.

And Burn's right. Go read the current comics as they have just what you seek from a third-party of non-Bot/Con Transformers. Go to a local comic store or a bookstore to find 'em.

Turns out that ain't Thundertron, but it is a Star Seeker.

I say this since we've seen his toy and it looks nothing like that.

Though, here's their insignia blown up to full size.

Thundertrons you say?

I think a third faction would make things more interesting, but not for selling the toys. It would become too confusing for kids. But I think the ideal third faction would not be a cybertronian race, rather, some alien robotic race.

Plus aren't humans now the third side?

I have to say the dynamics of 3 leaders final fight battle would be cool. "One shall stand ..one shall fall, and one shall watch"

That's exactly what the Star Seekers are. Non-Cybertronian Transformers who hate Cybertronians.

I see this third faction is either to be made up of the television audience or a bunch of voyeurs. Or, ya know... both. Makes those intimate moments between Op and Elita-1 awkward, but at least we know who's top dog in the Megatron/Starscream duo.

Does Unicron/Mini-cons/Sideways not count as a third faction? Everyone always forgets Armada. They had a whole different cast too (mostly).

Or how about RiD having Autobots vs. both Predacons and Decepticons?

Or Beast Wars Neo having Cybertrons/Maximals vs. Destrons/Predacons vs. Blentrons/Blendtrons?

And, for a while, Energon had Autobots and Decepticons vs. Terrorcons (until the Cons joined the Terrorcons the latter became a subgroup of the former).

Or those two hours in Revenge of the Fallen where it was the creators versus the audience and money was on the sidelines waiting to see what happened. And then the money sided with the creators and the audience lost.

As I recall, the Predacons and Decepticons were part of the same team. Sure, Scourge plotted to overthrow Megatron/Galavatron, but they ALL answered to Megatron. You could even argue the Decepticons were a sub-faction of the Predacons in RiD, and Scourge took the role traditionally held by Starscream.

Besides which, unless the upcoming "Beast Hunters" season is about this, I think the idea of a third faction in Prime has started to fade. With Airachnid locked away, the Insecticons have been absorbed into the Decepticons, and unless remnants start popping up, I think MECH's pretty much done. As for Starscream... well, one rogue does not a faction make. ;)

Well, yes, both did answer to Megatron/Galvatron, both the two groups were still at odds with each other, both trying to gain Megatron's favor over the other, up until the end of the series.

Well, that's what the Star Seekers, who all turn into beasts, would be for. ;)
