The only thing that can save that Optimus is if he combines with his trailer in some spectacular way. When I saw that Optimus and Megatron were only getting voyager figures I was hoping they were going to scale everything down. Like make Bumblebee and Sideswipe scouts, deluxe Ironhide and Ratchet, etc. And make the bigger characters in leader class so everything would be better in scale. But then they made Bumblebee in leader class and shattered that dream.

That Prime looks bad. It looks like a big FAB figure. I hope the trailer is compatible with the other voyager Prime's bc I won't be buying this one.

Megatron is incredibly underwhelming as well. Nothing but bland gray plastic and i think the hood looks ridiculous.

I'll buy Ironhide if they have retooled his chest. Otherwise, everything else is an easy pass.

All of the toys pictured look just horrible. They look low-quality and show to me that Hasbro has little faith in the DOTM movie. Given the relatively high quality toys we have seen from the Generations line these toys look like crap.

You would think that with such a strong world-wide toy community that Hasbro would stop releasing crappy toys. It is clearly obvious that we will pay for higher quality toys and in the long run it is fans like the ones here that keep Transformers going between movies and cartoons.

I can't judge what I see yet because some things still don't look properly transformed, some look incomplete, and we really don't know enough about these figures yet.

From what I can tell, I think maybe Hasbro is trying to simplify the transformations and perhaps make the figures a bit more sturdy for the kids who will hopefully buy this stuff up. I've had a lot of interesting conversations about the movie toys with parents in various stores over the last few years, and at times I've had to warn them about how certain toys required a lot of patience to transform the first few times, and that some just might flat out break. I also was told of some nightmares by some parents who were trying to complete the movie line with their kids. For example, one parent told me about the nightmare that is RotF Leader Megatron. He tried exchanging it twice and it still kept falling apart to the point that to his and his kid's disappointment they could not have that Megatron with RotF Leader Optimus Prime.

Personally, I think Hasbro needs to make adjustments for the kids. Now that I've seen good pictures of this Prime I've got a very good idea of how it transforms and it seems to be far less complicated than BB Prime. If that is the case that's a good thing in my opinion because I cannot recommend BB Prime to anyone not up to speed on the line. I can only imagine the horror of first time fans getting their first Prime but unlike my G1 Prime, their BB Prime snaps in five places after trying to transform it one time because of lack of experience.

I'm not saying kids cannot transform and play with these toys. But the parts that are made to pop off just are not enough to make these toys last because the plastic in some areas is simply not durable enough for rough play. When I was a kid my toys went to war, and some of them broke fairly quickly if the plastic was not strong enough or they didn't have die-cast metal in the right spots. I picked up RotF FAB Prime and Megatron for my cousin's 5th birthday two summers ago. He opened them up. I gave his mom the missiles. We spent a little time transforming them. His father took some time later to learn to transform them. About two months after that, half of Prime was missing. I had Prime when I was 5. I didn't lose or break anything until after a number of years of play.

So if I'm right and these toys are being made for the kids first, I think that's a good thing. We'll still likely get some of the more complicated molds at some point. Some will be repaints, and some I'm sure will be new molds. But as collectors, I think we might have to wait this time for a "Premium" type release. I cannot imagine Hasbro not releasing BB Prime again at some point, maybe with some updates. And I'll be surprised if we don't get an update of BBBB with all his built in weapons, no Mechtech, and an updated alt mode. We might even get a CJ out of that mold. If we get a CJ out of this new slimmed down (on the arms) BB with Mechtech, I might pick that one up.

But this time it's the Legends/Legends+ class that has me interested. Maybe for DotM I'll go with that as my primary movie additions. So far I think I might be getting the new Deluxe Skids, and hopefully Mudflap will get a similar update that pleases me so I can finally have the twins. I also noticed an Arcee, so I might get that as well. And if Voyager Prime with the trailer works, even if this version is what comes with it, I might go for it because it might be really cool when we see it complete. We just don't know exactly what we are looking at yet, and until we do I don't see what the complaining is about. If Hasbro is simplifying the line and removing the screen accuracy we crave that just means more money to spend on Generations, Reveal the Shield, and for those who collect them, 3rd party products.

My interest is peaked, and I'm looking forward to the official released photos followed by the video reviews. Even if the majority of the toys don't appeal, maybe this time the movie will be a home run instead, and I certainly won't complain about that. Especially if it does turn out to be good in 3D, that gimmick so few movies have used correctly.

Plus, we have got to finally be getting a new Voyager mold for Ratchet out of this, and if we do, that might be the one to take the cake. Though I'm not holding my breath over it. :PEACE:

Somebody PLEASE tell me what happened to them redesigning prime and bumblebee. Its clear theres absolutely no redesign and im pretty sure Bay or someone said something about making Prime look more heroic and Bumblebee more mature, but yet we still have Optimus looking like Rodimus and Bee looking like an actual Bee.

Well, the toys look to be somewhat heavily redesigned, but I assume you're referring to the movie models. If I remember correctly, they said fans would notice some little Easter Egg type stuff in the movie, but they did not elaborate on any of that, so I guess we'll have to wait until we actually see some images/scenes from the film in upcoming previews/trailers.

Sorry that my comment probably does nothing to help answer your question right now. :BANG_HEAD:

Wow. Where to begin...

1.) If a 5 year old can't transform a FAB, give him/her the instructions. If that doesn't work, then perhaps the child has a learning disability. There's nothing wrong with that. Each and every person grows and adapts at their own rate, in their own way. But, if they can't transform a FAB, then there might be more at issue than the toy itself.

2.) The movies were made for a wide audience, not just kids, hence the PG-13. Even the original movie, which was aimed at children, received a PG. You're not going to see a less than PG TransFormers anything, ever. That being said, we shouldn't neglect the children and forget them simply because one type of media is out of their age bracket.

3.) You WANT and NEED parents to buy TransFormers. We, the collectors/fans make up 12% of sales, which means parents and kids are responsible for 88% of the sales and business in stores and online. Without their 88% we fans will end up with NOTHING. We are nothing but a drop in the bucket to Hasbro, they just graciously remember us.

The toys happen to appeal to us, but they're not made for us. We're not the target audience, they just happen to keep us in mind while at the drawing board. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't delude yourself into thinking that we're more important than we really are.

I used to, and I quickly learned that that was the wrong way to think.

I don't like the fact that some of these figures look like crap and dumbed down, but it's what we're getting and we have the choice to not buy. I'm exercising that right, I'm not buying anything unless it impresses me enough to do so.

If you can't deal with that, then just be patient. They'll come back around to you.

EASY TIGER!!

Often collectors are frustrated by the decisions made by our beloved Has/Tak. But in times of disappointment, try to remember, these horrid movies are going to help keep this line alive. Someone mentioned it in another discussion that these kind of disasters keep Hasbro in the black. As long as SOMEONE buys these....figures....then every now and then we get lines like Generations, Alternators, Generations, Classics, and so on. In a way, the "Stupid Parents" are giving up their money on things we hate, so that we can give up our money on things we want.

Finally, my cat can transform a FAB (the minimum requirement for life in my home), maybe the kid IS special.

I commend you. A robot replica would probally have been a better fit. ALL kids (especially Tony) deserve Transformers. I got some when I was kid that I burned with a lighter because I wanted "battle Damage". My point is, kids are children. Children break things. I'm not a parent, so i have zero advance on raising them. But they will destroy toys, no matter how cool we think they are (the toys not the kids). But in response I'd like to say, those movies, NOT FOR KIDS. I had a hard time watching the second one with my Father, who is 56! Embarrassing and disappointing.

First, to Michael, I think we've all made good points based on our own experiences. We both took chances on FAB products for family members' birthdays, and we were both taken aback by the result. I honestly don't know where the blame lies, with Hasbro or with the current culture. Maybe a bit of both, but that's neither here nor there.

Second, to GetRightRobot, I wish my Dad was alive today to share these movies with. No question, they are not for children. He'd be in his 60's and I think he would have enjoyed them as much as I do. He had quite a sense of humor that I barely got to know as a kid because he passed when I was 7. But from the stories his longtime friend has told I'm sure I would not be embarrassed to watch RotF with him in the least. Just one more thing to add to my list of "I wish I could share this with Dad." That's probably why I want to share this with my younger cousins, one in particular, but the interest just isn't there so I am now in the habit of asking him what he wants and then clearing it with his parents for his birthday presents. Better he enjoys the toy he wants that someone tries to force something he doesn't on him. I always hated those types of presents when I was his age (and older).

 Oh my, I look forward to get the Bumblebee Leader Class, but I hope they're not going to disappoint me "again" by putting just the cannon to the right arm of Bumblebee, without the hand! #-o
It would be really stupid, since it's so easy to put inter-changeable weapon with hand. :-B
BTW this is obviously a prototype, therefore several details are missing. Hopefully the mech-tech stuff can be used as heavy weaponry and combined with other parts to build another Bot or something. :BOT:

For the Voyager Optimus Prime, hmm... I agree with others that it looks not really good
