Dreadwing and Breakdown Question...

As for these 2 figures, do you think it's worth the $ to order and have shipped the Takara versions, or should I just stick with the RID versions that I can pick up in 10 minutes right down the road at my TRU?

Pros/Cons please...

Both Dreadwing's are virtually identical, though the Takara version has a less show-accurate/brighter more 'Thundercracker' looking blue as seen here.

For Breakdown, you can't pick it up in 10 minutes right down the road at your TRU. As of now, it's still a Takara-only mold, there is no US/Hasbro version to date.

Ah ok, so that makes it an easier decision then.

And oooops, I thought breakdown was out already.

It is. In Japan.

We have a Cyberverse piece of crap figure here in the states, but that's about it.

I would definitely recommend that you go ahead and pick up the PRiD Voyager Dreadwing. If you've seen him then I wouldn't hesitate because he is much cheaper and more show accurate than the Takara version. As mentioned by xyl360, they are the same minus the color (and cost again).

Breakdown is a Japan exclusive but I think he's worth the price if you really want him. I got mine off of TFSource for $60 plus shipping. I think he's going for a little more than that now, but if you can get him closer to what I paid then it would be a pretty good deal.

Both are great if you're collecting the TF Prime line!

oh werd! I'll have to grab him when I see him the next time.

Happy to hear that a PRID version beats out a Takara version. :)

You could easily argue that most of the PRiDs are better than the AM versions if you don't like the micron ports and the sheer absence of paint.

The rubber, while annoying, is understandable for safety reasons. Better than a kid dropping it and having one of the tailfins break off. As for the weapons, Shapeways can help:

Soooo expensive, then you still have to paint them. All hail the coming of at-home 3D printers...

It's OK to call it like it is: a piece of crap. There are some great little figures in the Prime Cyberverse line (especially the excellent CJ mold), but Breakdown is probably the worst. The worst part about it is the baffling decision to make it Legion-class instead of Commander-class, which means you can't even display it with the other Cyberverse figures as it's a different scale. It's got a bad design, too, but that's a product of them forcing it into such a small scale.

If I may conjecture about that, the probable reason Breakdown is a legion is because the only other legion Decepticons were the Vehicons (disregarding the residual movie figs), and Knock Out was initially only packaged in the playset. Meanwhile the Autobots had Bumblebee, Arcee, Ratchet, and Cliffjumper in the Legion ranks. I feel like either Ultra Magnus or Ironhide's commander slot should have been given to Breakdown instead.

He's not wrong. The Autobots have more legion figures than Decepticons in the Prime Cyberverse:

Autobot Legions
*Bumblebee
*Arcee
*Ratchet
*Cliffjumper
*Hyperspeed Wheeljack
*Wheeljack w/ Jackhammer Star Hammer
*Quick Blade Bumblebee
*Fallback
*Tailgate
*Bumblebee w/ Battle Suit
*Beast Hunters Bumblebee
*Smokescreen
*Smokescreen w/ Sky Claw

Decepticon Legions
*Vehicon
*Breakdown
*Knock Out w/ Driller
*Annoying Orange Knock Out
*Flamewar
*Airachnid
*Predacon Twinstrike
*Breakdown w/ Apex Armor

Ironhide would have made more sense as a Legion, anybody else agree?

I don't. He's perfectly fine as a commander.

I just mean that scalewise it would have made more sense for him in a Legion, which would have opened a Commander spot for Breakdown.

I'd like to agree, but I also love his Commander class figure. >_>

Importing Breakdown is totally worth the cost, especially if you're collecting show characters. Dreadwing is a no-brainer also (for the Hasbro version). Rubber parts and all, he's still an excellent figure that looks awesome in both modes (just don't look at the bottom of the plane mode :P).

I'm crossing my fingers that Breakdown and Jet Vehicon get used for Botcon exclusives or something. That way we can get them with paint instead of peely-peely stickers.

I have both and in my opinion, the only sticker that MUST be applied is the Decepticon insignia on Jet Vehicon's chest. I left the other stickers off of both figures and they look great in both modes.

That's ironic, that's the only sticker I HAVEN'T applied on Jet Vehicon, because I need to pull the chest window off and I haven't figured out how to safely do that yet.
