When Astrotrain had been bounced up to the surface, he'd immediately initiated his transformation sequence and opened one of his bay doors so that Waspinator could get inside. Of the three of them that had been dispatched on this mission, he was easily the most conspicuous and the one most prone to messing this whole thing up before they even had a chance. Best to keep him out of sight until they had no other choice.

Octane, Astrotrain was sure, was thrilled about the idea of going on another fuel run. What he probably was not all that excited about was the idea of giving it back to Ramjet. Or anyone. But unless they had some great plan in mind, that's exactly what was going to have to happen--provided this little excursion went off without a hitch anyway.

There's a lot of rigs out here. The one we want is pretty well isolated from the others. Dead ahead.

The shift workers on the Tiber oil field rig were going to be in for a surprise today.

Gulf of Mexico -- Underwater

Water.

Damp, oxidizing and abundant. Waspinator's entire body was coated with the salty hydrogen, down to his wasp optics on his chest. He certainly wasn't in his element, which also brought forth the question, just what was Waspinator's element? Shrugging the question off, the Insecticon fluttered his wings in the water like fins on a fish, propelling himself inside of the open bay door, courtesy of Astrotrain.

As his feet touched the metallic floor of the troop space, Waspinator felt relief. The water had drained itself from the room almost instantly. For once, Waspinator was thankful that things were going his way for once. He had an above ground op.

As the engines kicked in behind the door to the shuttle bay door, the Insecticon leaned forward to compensate for the inertia. The wasp hoped to Primus that the literally thick-headed Seeker knew what he was doing. He had to, otherwise there wouldn't be so many followers of Ramjet's.

Waspinator went ahead and transformed into his tiny wasp mode and prepared to have the bay doors open so he could fly down and deactivate the communications of the oil rig. Everything was ready. It was almost time for some action.

One nice thing that Astrotrain had discovered in his cursory research regarding these oil installations, especially the type that these humans had constructed out in the water, was that the humans assigned only basic security personnel to guard the work that was going on. In such a location, their precious black fuel practically guarded itself. From other fleshbags anyway. How woefully unprepared they were for thieves of a Cybertronian nature.

Once he was within range and his sensors could detect humans that had both seen him and were looking up and pointing in his direction, Astrotrain activated an electromagnetic burst intended to disable all of their electronic equipment while they did their work.

He then opened his bay doors as he continued his descent.

"Alright bug, go make sure the fleshies don't get any kind of word out. We can't risk them using anything. Not even Morse code."

Gulf of Mexico -- Astrotrain's Hanger

To say Waspinator wasn't thrilled with going out into water was beyond an understatement. Naturally, as an Insecticon flier, he found it rather ostentatious to have a job to swim up to the oil rig. Infiltration protocol was something that really limited their abilities to an annoying degree sometimes. Although, he was happy to have a somewhat safe job to be the one to cut off the communications while Astrotrain and Octane fill up Energon Cubes.

At Astrotrain's order, Waspinator engaged the airlock, took one last breath of fresh... Whatever was in Astrotrain at the time, and he activated the airlock door, letting water flood the room from the floor panels. Feeling the swirling mass of warm Florida water, Waspinator felt his wings dampen with each drop. He was thankful, at least, that the natural oil that coated his wings prevented them from being completely useless when he leaves the dark abyss of the Gulf. The pressure equalized with the ocean outside, the Insecticon opened the door and began flitting his wings like fins. He had swam before -- and by "swam", it was more like a "controlled drown" after he had been blasted by Autobot anti-aircraft.

Within seconds, the wasp had propelled himself toward the rig, and one of the support struts along with it. Clutching the strut with his tri-fingered hands and his insectoid grippers on his toes, he began to crawl on the strut like a disturbing scene out of a bad horror movie. Feeling the light shine on him from the surface, Waspinator began to slow his speedy ascent, making his ascension clean, quiet and very relieving for Waspinator. Almost immediately, the Insecticon transformed into his compact wasp mode and began to fly upwards. Waspinator noticed how the humans went about their business and their work. Feeling the rumble of machinery and the low hum of electronics, Waspinator tuned his senses to try to find where the comm was...

There.

Destination found, the Decepticon flew over the workers, who, from above, looked all the same with their yellow hardhats and boots, topped off by their blue jumpsuits. Waspinator made sure to fly high over the particularly grumpy looking ones. Hearing the electrical static grow louder, the Insecticon flew faster toward it's source. Ahead of him was his destination.

The antennae was on top of a concrete block -- no, building -- ahead of him. It was large enough to hold a couple of people, so he'd have to work fast. Landing atop the antennae, the Insecticon fired one of his stinger harpoons at the base of the antennae, and in a flash of sparks, the metal rod began to twist at the angle of it's lost strut. As Waspinator fluttered away, the radio fell onto the deck with a loud clang. It would look like an accident, that a bit of an equipment malfunction or something.

It was time.

>>Coazzt all clear, letzz make zzome Energonzz!<< Waspinator said enthusiastically over the comm to Octane and Astrotrain.

Once Waspinator was successfully cleared from his hangar, Astrotrain activated his transformation sequence and boarded the exposed portion of the oil rig. The human workers were pointing and running for the most part, but even amongst their mindless rabble a couple of them stood, slack-jawed, pointing in the massive, living machine's direction.

As Astrotrain walked, he could hear the steel of the rig bending underneath his feet. The design was sturdy, but there was obviously never any intent for creatures of his size and density to be casually walking along its admittedly cramped pathways. Cramped for one such as him, anyway. Waspinator would be able to maneuver around much more easily.

>>Coazzt all clear, letzz make zzome Energonzz!<<

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Astrotrain grumbled as Octane touched down not far from his position, causing another creaking and bending of the metal beneath their feet.

"Stand back, 'train. This is what I do for a living," Octane grunted as he moved past the other triple-changer and began to override the paltry human safety protocols that controlled the rig's access to the black fuel. Astrotrain barely grunted out a response in kind before turning to look at some of the fleeing humans, some diving into the waters below while others were running for one of the naval vessels docked close by.

"Ah ah ah," Astrotrain said, producing his ionic displacer rifle and switching to one of the small grenade cartridges he carried within it. "No survivors."

The triple-changer fired, sending the sizable human vessel up in flames.

Astrotrain had been waiting and waiting and waiting--seemingly nigh-on endlessly--for Octane to finish what they had come here to do. The slacker bug wasn't much help either.

Some of his time had been occupied making sure that there were no human survivors from the oil rig to relay what exactly was happening here, but that held the triple-changer's attention for only so long.

"Hurry up, will you? Primus on a screw! When we left the standing around gig with the Constructicons I didn't do it to go pick up another one. This needs to--"

>>"Blitzwing, to Astrotrain and Octane. What's the current progress of our mission?. I couldn't get anyone to help us out and I'm making my way back to you guys now. Blitzwing out."<<

Astrotrain frowned, looking down at the comm system that had relayed the message.

>>"Progress? What progress? I'm thinking of ditching Ramjet's little insane project if he and his little pet doesn't start getting on the ball. You might be wasting your time. What's going on up there? Do we have a new leader yet?"<<

Gulf of Mexico -- Oil Rig

The rush of battle. If "battle" meant "slaughter", it would have made a bit more sense. He had been waiting for so long that it felt like an eternity. The ache of his servos felt a bit rusty, but he wasn't about to complain. This is what he lived for -- or, at least, what he thought he lived for. He wasn't so sure what he wanted to do, but he did know that he didn't want to get scrapped again.

With a whirl of servos and green metal plates, a giant wasp appeared from where a minuscule one once resided. Hovering above a swarm of terrified human workers, its giant wings fluttered and buzzed, letting loose a windstorm gusting down around the workers, sand from the deck being blown upward like a sandstorm. Some sought shelter in control areas, whereas others tried to brace themselves by standing firm, but were blown over to the point of even having their hardhats blown off.

"The thing's huge!" one cried, shielding himself from the wind, "And that whining buzz is killin' my ears!"

"They're dead! They're both dead! There's a couple of giant flippin' robots down on the docks, Tom! Jack and Butch are both dead! Something tells me that thing is with 'em! You need to get out of-" another worker shouted as he ran up to his compatriots.

But he never made it. Suddenly, a giant stinger fell from the sky and the striped abdomen that followed sped forward and thrusted itself into the chest of the man, mid-step. Blood bubbled from his mouth as he was cut short, and he grew pale immediately as the acidic venom ate through his internal organs. Death came quickly, but not painlessly.

Waspinator hissed as he soared upward, dropping the limp body into the sea below. The whir of a motor caught Waspinator's audio receptors. Using his large, blue compound eyes, he saw a large metal beam swinging as a crane spun, clearly with the intent to slam into him. The insecticon seethed with anger. It was one thing for a Transformer to try to beat on him, but a human? Someone so beneath them, and yet so ignorant that they had the nerve to attack them? Just who did they think they were?

Perhaps it wasn't anything to do with ignorance, though. Perhaps it was bravery. But that didn't matter to Waspinator. He wasn't about to go into philosophical debates with a crummy human, and that was a fact (not that he was altogether sure he could).

Darting forward, Waspinator transformed in a whirl of metallic plates, changing into his robot form, wings still fluttering and hovering above the deck of the rig. As the beam swung toward him, he turned with a sudden flair of confidence and let out a vicious kick at the steel girder. As the transformer's foot slammed into the steel surface, it bent backward and spun around on the tip of the chain, the web of bars the crane was made up of were wrapped over and over, rocking it violently. After the girder came to a jarring stop as it ran out of chain, Waspinator unholstered his weapon and raised it forward, optics bearing down the barrel.

The glare of the glass from the control room was burning his optics, but that didn't matter. He was ticked off, and whoever this was was, the human was the target of his rage. With a squeeze of his finger, a harpoon shot from the tip of his pistol and sped forward, piercing the glass with a thundering crash, bombarding the area with a shower of glass shards, some speckled with droplets of crimson, metallic blood from the occupant. Waspinator didn't care if he died or not. The poison would kill him soon.

But enough distractions.

"Decepticonzz!" Waspinator hollered to Octane and Astrotrain, "Letzz get to buzzinezz!"

Fluttering down onto deck, the insecticon promptly handed his Energon Cube Dispenser to Octane before turning to fire another harpoon at a group of fleeing workers. He'd have to clean up his harpoons afterward, but it didn't take away from their effectiveness.

Astrotrain's metallic face etched itself into a deeper frown. Razorclaw? Bleh. They were to be lorded over by beasts now? How far they had fallen since the glory days of the Triorian Guard. Whether Shockwave would have won or not didn't matter. This was Decepticon politics, and at the end of the cycle it only mattered who did win. Razorclaw it was then. Astrotrain knew that he would have to tread just a little more carefully under the auspices of this new regime.

Which, for whatever reason, brought his attention back to Waspinator.

Huh.

So the little stain wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. If nothing else, that gave Astrotrain a moment's respect for the pecky little Insecticon. It may have passed quickly, but it did exist for a fleeting moment.

"Yeah...what am I supposed to do with that up here, runt? I can't transform. No room. Go set it up on shore somewhere. I'll be over there in a breem," Octane grunted.

Meanwhile Astrotrain fired another blast, incinerating the last pair of rig workers that he saw before turning and stalking back around to where the other two Decepticons were standing.

"You full yet?"

"Ugh....just...a little, a little more...ahhhh. Yeah. Couldn't hold another drop," Octane smirked, looking as if he had just taken the Matrix from Optimus Prime himself. "You take care of the witnesses?"

"Whatever I could find. The bug helped. Let's go," Astrotrain said, taking to the air and heading for the Texas/Louisiana coastline. Octane detached himself from the refinery pipeline and headed for the shore himself.

Once he was in the air he transformed into his cargo plane mode. No sooner had he hit the ground--in what had to have been one of the worst landings he had ever conducted on this mudball--than he found Astrotrain and Waspinator waiting with the device that would facilitate the conversion of the crude product into higher quality energon cubes. Astrotrain connected the device to his fellow triple-changer and it wasn't long before the iridescent pink cubes began to appear and fill themselves with the life-sustaining energy.

"Start loading him up," Astrotrain growled at the smaller Insecticon. "Ramjet wouldn't like it if we told him you were glitching up his plans, would he?"

The sudden transmission from Blitzwing halted both Astrotrain and Octane in their tracks. Waspinator was glitching up their plans. Well, Ramjet's plans. Slow little bug was nigh worthless on this mission. But now it seemed that there were even bigger fish to fry.

>>"Copy that Blitz, lock on our signals. Ready to bounce."<<

Octane transformed and looked at his fellow triple-changer.

"I feel bloated."

Astrotrain sighed as he awaited the Thanatos' bounce technology to lock on to their signal positions.

"Wow..."

Wait, what?

Astrotrain looked around, his weapon at the ready. The voice had not come from him, Octane, Waspinator or even the sudden, surprise appearance of Ramjet. Too small. Too...organic. Astrotrain's audio receptors then pinpointed the location of the sound and Astrotrain looked down, finding what he was looking for.

But not at all what he was expecting. A tiny, adolescent human male with some kind of device in one hand.

"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me," Octane growled. "Just shoot it." Astrotrain reached out even as the human suddenly realized that these were not "friendly alien lifeforms" and had started to run. Astrotrain snatched the human up gingerly in one hand, careful not to crush it in his palm. Astrotrain's expression darkened.

"Gah. This is one of their protos," he said, before his metallic optics settled on the human. "Are you here by yourself?"

"I'm sorry-I'm sorry-I'm sorry. Don't kill me! Don't kill, please god don't kill me..."

"Shut up!" Astrotrain hissed in his echoing metallic rattle. "Answer the question!"

"Y-yeah. Just went f-for a w-walk."

"Your unlucky day, fleshbag. Just crush it and let's go," Octane said, moving his head closer to examine the creature. Astrotrain let out a small growl of his own.

"Gah. I can't do it. It's a proto. That just seems....I don't know," Astrotrain sighed.

"S-So you're not gonna--?"

Before the human could say anything further, Astrotrain shoved the human inside an internal compartment and confirmed the triple-changers' readiness. In the next astrosecond, the two were bounced up to the Thanatos.
