Looks fantastic, probably a great deal of fun, but I'm going to wait for reviews before taking the plunge.

It didn't take this long because they were sitting on their hands the whole time. George Broussard wanted this game to be absolutely perfect, but it caused him to constantly make revisions. So it's not like 3D Realms was procrastinating, it's that they were doing way more fine tuning than they should have. And while they were doing that, the times went and changed. Engines had to be replaced with the newer ones, you can't have it looking like they finished in '98. Havok and ragdoll physics made themselves known. Popular mechanics came and went. So they weren't just trying to make the perfect game, they also had to adapt it to modern tech...a few times over. The same problem plagued Daikatana, but then they rushed at the end, and we all know how that went.

So the most hilarious joke in the gaming world is now dead.
So how awesome and epic is this game now that it's out, is it the genre-changing milestone they promised us?

I beat the game the day it came out, and honestly it wasn't as good as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong, it was loads of fun but I don't think it warranted the decade plus of development time they supposedly spent on it. I blame my expectations for being way too high.

I'm also sad that I only laughed one time, and that was running up the staircase with the barrels raining down, and Duke saying he wished he had a hammer, and he expected a monkey to be at the top of the stairs.

In short, it was good but I probably won't play it again.

I'm currently going through reviews, man this sounds more and more like a modern Sonic game - just instead of a one year development this took like 14 years.
You know, I was kind-of hoping this would suck, but man this sounds worse than what I imagined, it actually makes me feel sorry for those who've been waiting so long for it.
