Earth alt mode for Megs?

"Many thanks go out to an almost overlooked item posted by
our very own Gnaw which points to another IGN article about the upcoming Transformers Movie game title. This gives us a more hands-on review of the game. There is entirely too much to summarize here, but you can read the article in it's entirety here.

One interesting thing to note about the article is that it reveals a possibility of Megatron's Earth based alt mode. To quote the article:

Since the game is still in development we weren't able to enjoy any of the more vehicle-specific missions, such as air combat with Starscream and Megatron (who, by the way, is a stealth bomber if you aren't up to speed in the new Transformers)"

I will bet you my entire transformers collection that this is just another case of someone not really understanding what they're seeing when they look at Megatron's alt mode.

He thinks it's a stealth bomber.

It's not.

LeBoeuf made the same mistake with his "Megatron is a Razor" comment. Just another case of people not getting their facts straight, or being misinformed.

I'm also skeptical, but I think it would be hard for anyone to mistake a weird silver cyber jet with a triangular black stealth bomber.

Shia never saw anything, he was just going on what he was told. That one makes sense, but this one sticks out a bit more.

I guess we'll see.

I don't believe it, we would have seen something of his earth-alt by now, hell if all the figures so far show his pointy Cyb-alt only its a safe bet that his earth alt is non-existent.

The interesting question: if it is a stealth bomber, what kind are we talking about? I don't believe the B2 is the only stealth bomber in the US arsenal anymore, but the new one I also don't believe has been publicly unveiled either. Could this be what all the hush-hush is about concerning Meg's alt mode?

What's a Megatron?

EDIT: As I was laughing at my absurd question, I came to a scary realization that "What's a Megatron?" might actually be a line of dialog from the movie. Hopefully as someones last words.

If it's true you'd think they'd have made more of it than a simple "for those of you who don't already know" aside.

Yeah, I'll bet his entire collection as well, I think some one doesn't have their facts straight, it is IGN after all.

Exactly, they would have worded it differently instead of making you sound stupid for not knowing something that hasnt been confirmed yet. My guess is that his cybertron alt mode is LIKE a stealth bomber

:-?

You believe Transformers is going to "reveal" a currently unknown stealth bomber? The B-2 is the only current stealth strategic bomber (strategic meaning B-52, B-1, B-2 style heavy payloads, different from the F-117 which is really a specialized ground attack fighter, so basically a "bomber" as well) in the USAF. Even if there was a weapon system they publically disavowed, they wouldn't license hasbro and Bay to depict it in CGI and mass produce toy replicas that transform into a villainous alien leader. Not before it had been catalogued in something like Jane's Defense and even made its way into the pages of something like Popular Mechanics.

At best, if there is an Earth alt for megs, and it doesn't look like there will be, and it's not a B-2 like the video game article suggests, it could transform into a proof of concept or prototype aircraft. The A-12 Avenger II was supposed to be "razor shaped" and not as big as a B-2, but I dunno if that ever made it off the drawing board. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter would be a possibility, but doesn't fit the description. Heh, maybe Megs was captured decades ago, so he transforms in the YB-49, which did see action in the 50s movie version of the War of the Worlds.

Bottom line, you're not going to see any "new" military equipment that hasn't been publicly available via scholarly databases or public defense analysts.

I hope it looks better than Cybertron Soundwave.

And if you like it fine, but the tank never sat well with me. I always thought, with how large he's suppose to be, an anti-aircfaft turret gun would be cool.

It would keep the gun motif, and I thought it would be cool if the helmet and face could form the control seat. The arms and legs streched, compacted, and folded to make the tri-pod, and the bady forming the cannon.

Maybe one day.

Well, they wouldn't be the first people to sound stupid by trying to make themselves sound like they're in the know but are actually mistaken. I'll believe IGN when they show a screenshot. Until then, in my world the game's development version has Megatron transforming into a giant milkshake cup.

I'll wait for some visual proof. A wise man once said, "You can't spell "Ignorant" without I-G-N."

Theres a thread somewhere on here, and on the movie forum where one of the writers hinted at it being a stealth like a month ago

And what appears in the game or toyline won't necessarily appear in the movie anyway...

If it's true, a B-2 Megs would be extremely cool.

Hearsay maybe, but supposedly its one of bay's people and then the magazine also states it, so its a little bit more believable than if I just come out and say Megatron is going to be the Oscar Meyer Weeniemobile.
