eBay auction for TRANSFORMERS: THE SCORE signed by Steve Jablonsky

Postby TheKnightShift » Mon Oct 15, 2007 11:04 am

Mash down here for the eBay auction for the Steve Jablonsky-signed copy of Transformers: The Score!

100% of the proceeds goes to help fund music education programs in Rockingham County (North Carolina) schools.

"NO SACRIFICE, NO VICTORY!" :P

And please spread the word far and wide. Those kids barely got their All-County Chorus concert for this year. The money from this will go toward helping with next year's concert and toward purchasing much-needed musical instruments.

Thank you for looking! Thank you even more for bidding

Sweet!!!

I *really* agonized over this during the past week, it must be said. Because originally this was going to be used to help fund something called Rockingham All-County Chorus, which is an annual concert where the choruses from all the elementary schools come together and perform. And for awhile it looked like it wasn't going to happen this year at all because of budget cuts.

That's what got the whole idea of asking Mr. Jablonsky to help out got started. From the beginning, he was very glad to assist and we've been extremely thankful for that.

Then last Monday night at the school board meeting, I was told that a few hours earlier a source of funding was found, so this wasn't a problem anymore. In the meantime I still had a CD to be auctioned, and the entire purpose for the auction had vanished.

I made sure to tell Steve about this, and he gave us his blessing that we should go ahead and auction the CD, and use the proceeds for whatever we find that helps the cause of music education. Steve is a very big supporter of music education, and I intend to give nothing less than 100% toward honoring his commitment and the spirit of the original intent of this auction.

So much so, that there is FREE SHIPPING for this auction, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!! Even if you live in Outer Mongolia, if you are the winning bidder we will get this to you without you having to pay a cent/euro/pound/peso/yen/hogs head/wampum/Republic credit/amero/shilling/cronkite/whatever :-P

Remember how fans like you and me and Chris Knight signed petition after petition to get the score released? Remember how Steve Jablonsky was so grateful that the fans cared so much and was thanking them left, right and center for it?

Yeah, way to thank Chris Knight and all of those loyal fans of the movie that made the release happen. Peter Jackson listed each member of the Tolkien fan clubs BY NAME in the credits of the LOTR Extended Editions on the DVDs, yet you couldn't squeeze in "Chris Knight" and "all of the fans who made this CD release possible" into the Thank You section of the liner notes?

Dear trilobitepictures,
Why the bitterness? I mean, I'm Chris Knight, and I'm not bitter or resentful at all.

Why should my name be in the liner notes? I had nothing to do with the inspiration and composition of this music. That was Steve Jablonsky, and then he and his crew made the music. They are the ones who deserve to be listed in there, not me or anyone else who didn't figure into the process.

Heck, I wish that I had the kind of talent that these people do!! I would love to be musically adept. But I don't have that. For whatever reason, God didn't believe that I needed that kind of gift. That doesn't mean that He doesn't give me other gifts though, that can be used and appreciated. It doesn't mean that you are left out either, or anyone else for that matter.

Don't envy someone else for the talent that they possess, or for the success that they have earned. Because more often than not they really did earn that success, through years of sacrifice and hard work and sometimes more struggle than you probably really care to know.

Instead, do the best with what you have been given, and learn to be content with that...

...because chances are you might discover that what you've got is plenty enough to be proud of, in your own way. And that it will more than suffice.

It's 'cuz Transformers fans have a lot of heart (I hope :D )

There's a great bunch of Star Wars fans called the 501st Legion, they're a costume group that dresses up like Stormtroopers and such and one of the things that they're known for is charity fundraising, especially for pediatric causes. They're also big on dressing up and entertaining the kids at childrens' hospitals.

That would be a great thing for Transformers fans to do! Now if only someone can figure out how to built a 20-foot tall Bumblebee costume...

The 501st is definitely a great group to be in. And it's pretty wide-spread. Of course, they also got to be a big part of actual Star Wars lore.

There are probably fans who'd bid high regardless of the autograph considering the lack of CD's around. But it's a really nice gesture.

Ummm...I may be wrong but I seem to remember that Warners never told us that there were "no plans to release the score". SONY said that when Chris and other fans called them to ask, and that was only because Sony had no part in producing the score at all. I also seem to remember in one of his emails to Chris (am I correct here Chris) that Steve J. said that they ALWAYS had planned to release the score from the beginning. It just took them longer to get it right, and that Steve was very grateful for all the fan interest and love for his work. BUT, the fans were not the ones who definitively "got the score released."

Yes that is exactly what I said. Look at your quote above. It was SONY who said no immediate plans (after Chris asked them the question because at that time people were Assuming that Sony would be the one to do it). SONY did not produce the score or have anything to do with it at all. WARNERS produced the score and WARNERS never said they had "no plans to do so".

You are correct, leday. I really don't know if our petition had any actual effect at all on this process. I've heard that it was always in the pipeline but that the enthusiasm for the score moved it up as a priority... but after the whole mess with whether Sony was doing it or not got straightened out, most of the signals I was getting on this end indicated that it was definitely going to be coming anyway.

I've never claimed that this petition is what "did the trick". It would be wrong to say that. But it did, in an upbeat and positive way, show that the love for this score was there and if helped to illustrate love of this movie and for Steve Jablonsky's work and was successful in conveying that, then that in itself is its own reward :D

My sentiments exactly, and I am glad that we were able to convey our deepest appreciation to Steve Jablonsky in such a manner and that he actually got to see/experience it.
