ebay - full of scammers?

Postby Swindle01 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:09 am

Im really starting to wonder these days whats the point in auctions on ebay. If you use BIN options you get the item right away and dont have any hassle but at the same time i always feel like im being screwed and over charged for something that would and should have cost half the amount.

The main problem i have at present is that im TRYING to buy a 'wall mounted fireplace' for our new house which we will be moving into in the end of february. Now the issue i have is when i look for BIN options for medium sized ones i find they all usually cost £70ish. Yet theres loads of auction versions of these but it seems odd to me that when i look at the BIDS on all these wall mounted fireplaces i have tried to buy....whats the main thing you think ive noticed? all the NEW bidders or older bidders seem to be bumping the price up...and have something like 0 feedback or AT MOST 10ish feedback and ive also noticed these so called bidders just HAPPEN to come from the same area the item is being sold from.

I thourght ebay said they would put a stop to this sort of thing? its clear as day its either the seller or a sellers friend who keeps bumping the price up and ive had this happen now on at least 12 auctions for a wall mounted fireplace. I just find it very very suspisious that these auctions all end around about the £65-70 price range and never EVER any lower than that, even when ive been up at 3-4AM and have put bids on....it seems theres at least 2-3 other bidders up at that time who just happen to be after the same item?

Its just starting to frustrate the hell out of me because getting something as simple as this shouldnt be as difficult as its turning out. I dont mean to come across as being jewish with money but every penny does count in this situation. Its costing us £7000 for a deposit and then £800 in solicitor fees and then god knows what the removal men will charge us for...
Ive already paid out over £700 in stuff for our new house which we needed like new wardrobes+drawers and various other stuff. I need the wall mounted fireplace to help make the room...well MAKE the room basically but i just feel im getting screwed over by dodgy sellers here

If you aren't happy with the shenanigans that are going on on the auctions, why not just purchase a BIN item? Or forget eBay all together for that matter? But I agree, some scamming is definitely going on there.

That's a pretty nasty insinuation to make. Might want to rethink that next time...

:APPLAUSE:

seriously tho i thourght ebay said they were making it so people couldnt place bids on there own auctions anymore? like stopping more than 1 user with the same ip address making an account ect

Its just yet again TWICE tonight in the space of 2 hours ive been outbid on a wall mounted fireplace and yet again when i check on the so called bids....same people with either 0 feedback or something like 8-9 feedback scores

There was this guy in the uk on ebay who ended up in court over this. He was a bus driver selling vehicle parts and he made a seperate account called Ron_the_bus_Driver while his actual seller username was something like Bus-Driver-Ron and he got caught doing this and he ended up in court over it. Ebay have even been on watchdog (a UK tv show which highlights scammers and con merchants) and i remember ebay saying they were going to do something about people like this.....yet its still clearly happening

Anyhow, I don't like eBay for multiple reasons, and this is one.
Still, If I see a good deal, I buy from them from time to time

He has some valid points about eBay, I mean their prices and policies are ridiculous. However, any weight his argument might've had, just went out the window.

Anyone who's willing to lower themselves as low as he has...disgusting.

And yet ANOTHER one going to the blocklist.

And by the time this posts, I'll have reported him. I'm tired of his antics. I've had enough.
