eBay Seller; whatever!

So, I purchased five NES games off of eBay last weekend. I paid for First-Class shipping, $10.99, a fifth of the overall amount that I paid to this seller. In the auctions he specifically put that the packages would be received 2-4 days from payment and I live in the state right next to his.

They finally got here today. It took a week. I gave him neutral feedbacks stating how it took a week. He left me three negatives stating how I was whining about how it took a week.

I'm not one who usually cares about stuff like this, but I paid $10.99 for shipping and handling.

After leaving the three negatives he then sent an email "explaining" himself and sent the mutual feedback removal.

I sent him a reply: here is the reply.

The items in quotation marks are what he wrote in his email and the underlined parts are my replies to each section of his email. Any comments or comparable stories are welcome.

Tom,

I have gone through your message and have written my own comments. In no way is any of this written in anger, but it is my opinion and, as a customer, I do hope you read through it with an open-minded view. Any opinions stating my thoughts on your point of view of the situation are only my own assumptions by trying to put myself in your shoes. If I am incorrect, then I do want you to know that my remarks do not mean any disrespect.

"I believe it was a misunderstanding as you may have been under the assumption 1st-Class mail applied to multiple purchases - We shipped all of your games together in a Box weighing more than a pound, 1st-class mail with the Post Office only applies to packages under 1lb in weight. "

Either way I paid $10.99 for shipping and handling and should have gotten more from that amount.

"Considering your zip code, we shipped it parcel knowing it was take the *exact* same amount of time to arrive as it would first class (2-5 days) which it did."

No, it didn't it took a week, which is longer than advertised. I am not one that would have a problem with this except that I paid $10.99 on shipping and handling.

"3 Negative feedbacks have been posted on your account - I do believe this was an honest misunderstanding and I'd like to keep this a successful transaction."

If you truly wished for this to remain a successful transaction, then why not discuss it with me prior to leaving me negative feedbacks.

"I sent you a mutual feedback withdrawal that will remove the Negatives/vice versa considering it's unmerited for us as well as yourself."

Tom, I'm not one to point fingers in anger or anything, but if you were in my position you might see this in the same manner as I do. Given that the majority of my actions on eBay are as a buyer and you are a seller, non-positive feedback hinders your actions as a seller more than my actions as a buyer. You wish to remove the feedbacks from both of our accounts, so that it doesn't hurt your overall business. You no longer care about me as a customer because you have ruined me doing more business with you by giving me those negatives and now you only care about other potential customers.

"To show you we value your business, I'll send you out a free game of your choice from our $3 or Less category in our eBay store."

I do not even care to look at your list of $3 games, if you wish to give back the $10.99 to my account on Paypal, then I will gladly use the mutual feedback withdrawal to remove the feedbacks.

Same thing kinda happened to me. I bought an advertised MISB Commemorative Series Ricochet from a seller.

When it arrived, it was missing it's instruction book, had the stickers applied, and the tape was cut on the inside package. However, they did re-tape the outside box to make it appear MISB.

Anyway, I left a neutral feedback as well (just like you did), because I planned on keeping the item, but was dissatisfied with the false advertising. So I also left a comment about the item not being as advertised with the neutral feedback

The seller left me a negative feedback! (just like yours did). He also insulted me in his feedback retort saying that I didn't know how to use Ebay, but whatever.

This is the item BTW: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0081926189

After that, I sent him an e-mail complaint to him asking him why he felt it was necessary to neg me. I told him it was unwarranted since I did not leave negative feedback for him. I explained the entire situation about me wanting to keep the item.

He didn't care. He kept repeating, "If you had a problem, you should have contacted me" instead of actually defending his poor reasoning for giving me negative feedback.

Just so you can you see what he left, here's the link:

My neutral feedback I left can be found here:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... =-1&de=off

I'm cowboy_fan_forever, BTW.

It also appears that someone else had the same complaint as I did on page 3 of glstores feedback. I bet he left negative feedback for him too. :-x

Edit: Found his feedback, and I was right, he neg'd the other guy too.

Well, that guy was obviously trying to pull a fast one with that false MISB and when it didn't work decided to be a d*ck.

At least my items were delivered and in good condition, but I don't see why I paid $10.99 to sit and wait for them to show up. I don't think my seller is a d*ck like that guy in your auction, he just didn't deal with the situation appropriately and is now realizing that he screwed himself more than he did me with the feedback, especially since all my comments did was stated the situation whereas his will come off looking bad to anyone else who sees this and he might lose business from it.

He didn't say, but it is normal package shipping from Indiana to Ohio, so my guess would be $2 - $3. It isn't $10.99

If it was shipped USPS, the postage should be on the box.

Fender Bender, in all fairness, you should have at least contacted the seller before leaving feedback. I once screwed up packaging something (I had to disassemble something to fit it in the box and didn't even think about not having instructions for her) and the buyer let me know of her displeasure before giving me a neutral. That was totally my fault and there wasn't really anything I dould do to resolve it so I didn't dispute it. Although, giving a negative in response to a neutral is very jerk-ish on that guy's part.

Exactly. Like I said, I intended on keeping the item, regardless, so that's why I didn't bother contacting the person and left neutral. I figured that they would just leave neutral as well at worst, and that would be the end of it.

Oh I see, so one of the reasons you were pissed is because you believed you overpaid for shipping. With $10.99 shipping, the seller could have sent the package via Priority Mail and you'll get it in 2-3 business days.

Do you know if he sent it right away, or did he wait a few days?

The reason I ask is that I usually use USPS First Class Mail for small items, and stuff arives pretty quickly, usually within 3 business days. Sometimes it will take a week, but that's not very often.

However, I recently sold a softcover book on ebay and sent it via First Class Mail. It was going from MI to PA. The buyer paid for on a Friday, and I sent it same day. However it did not arrive until the next Saturday.

Most buyers are patient, but this one wasn't, and she even emailed me asking why it took longer than the "advertised 2-5" days.

She eventually left me positive feedback, but stated that the package took more than 2-5 days to arrive.

Now this wasn't clearly my fault. I even put in the effort to mail it out the same day she paid for it. The mail was just slow, I had no control over that.

In the listing ebay even ststes that "* Sellers are not responsible for service transit time. This information is provided by the carrier and excludes weekends and holidays. Note that transit times may vary, particularly during peak periods."

That's what ebay wrote, not the sellers.

So naturally, I was pissed. Like I said, I went to the Post Office the same day I got payment. I was tempted to leave neutral, hell, even negative feedback for the buyer.

But I took some time to cool off, and then thought to myself, the buyer did leave positive feedback. So I decided to leave her postive feedback in return, but instead of writing praising comments like I do for others, I just wrote something simple like "Thanks for the payment."

I know that if I was younger and less mature, I would have left a negative.

Anyway, here's the usps delivery confirmation number for that item: 0403 9869 8960 0703 2006

First, I left neutral feedback (not + nor -). The buyer stated that he would be sending the item 1st class and that it would take 2-4 days to arrive. I got the email last monday saying it was sent that day. It took a week; there is no question about that.

I'm not angry with this person; I'm usually one of the best buyers on eBay and I would normally not care about it taking a week to get my package.

The problem is that I spent $10.99 for shipping and handling and that amount was not truly used to the best of the seller's ability to get the item to me 1st class as they had stated in their auction.

I see and agree with what you are saying about the seller having no control over the post office, but the seller didn't use all or even most of $10.99 to speed up delivery.

Priority from IN to OH for a 3 pound package is around $8.00 depending on the size of the box. If he shipped it normal first class then it would be around $5.00. Either way it took too long to get to you and you were overcharged. Although I'm one of those nice sellers that does everything to keep my feedback good even if it means refunding someone for extra shipping I charged.

But yeah if you still have the box it will have to price on a little pink and white label. I'm curious how much it was.
