Fan Fiction - Transtopia Newsletter Submissions

Postby Stormrider » Fri Jan 09, 2009 11:18 pm

Weapon: Atom-Smasher Cannon
Please post your fan-fiction story here if you would like it to be featured in an upcoming Transtopia Newsletter.

Stories will be reviewed on a monthly basis. The deadline is the end of each month. You can post old or new stories. There is no limit to the number of stories that you can submit. But please don't resumbit the same story twice. Stories should conform to these guidelines:

1) 10,000 word limit. Rough guideline to start with, I won't be automatically disqualifying anything that comes in over.
2) Decent spelling, grammar and punctuation. People need to ate least run a spell-check over the thing before submitting it. This isn't me being a grammar Nazi, it's just difficult to get absorbed in a story if you're constantly being jolted out of it by bad spelling.
3) Be specific as to where/when the story is set. So what continuity is it in (G1 comic, G1 cartoon, Armada comic, etc) and where is it set? Before the events of the show comic, after, during? If during, where does it fit?
4) Fan characters are fine, but I'd prefer people avoid making them those annoying "I am more powerful than any other Transformer!!!" types. Also, consider if there's an under-used existing TF who'd fit the needs of the story just as well as someone new. Existing characters are almost always more interesting to everyone else.

How to submit:
Step 1 - create a thread in the Fan Fiction forum and post your story in it.
Step 2 - In this thread, provide the link to your thread and the name of the story.
*Please do not post your story in here because this thread would become too long and crazy to navigate.

Here's my first story:
http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37321&p=662003#p662003

Macine Wars: Transformers -- Episode 1
U.S. title: “Revival, Part 1 – Deception”
Japanese title: “Four Destrons Resurrected”

  • Number of words: 2,033 (plus some brief text above the actual story)
  • Spelling/Grammar: Better than decent.
  • Setting: 50 years afer the Great Wars of the Animated G1 continuity, or 250 years before the time the Beast Wars cast came from. It's supposed to also be within both the U.S. and Japanese G1 animated continuties without interfering with each other. Meaning it takes place far enough into the future to where it could take place after either The Rebirth or Headmasters/Masterforce/Victory/Zone/Return of Convoy/Operation Combination/Japanese G2 with little to no problems.
  • Fan characters: a few but mostly unnamed, unimportant people in this story.

Two weeks left, guys. I'm sure Sabrblade doesn't want to win by default.

Well, I really wouldn't mind. If I do win, it might get me back into typing the rest of this fic series. I've only done two stories, and my original plan was to do up to about 35 or 36 stories.

Come on, folks! At this rate I'm going to have to create a dupe account and post something of mine just to give us a contest! :P

I would love to participate but my only Transformers fanfic is unfinished and is a little over the 10,000 word limit... by about triple.

Would it be eligible in an unfinished state if I trimmed off 20,000 words?

I think mine is over the 10,000 limit, but could anyone here care to read it? It should be on my signature.

Oh, you wound me. Is this how you avoid telling me mine sucks? After all the hard work (okay, two days) and medication, erm, I mean, *DEDication* I put into it?

I'm going to go cry now.

HK, too much combining makes you go blind.
