I really want these characters. I just dont want them as bricks. If theyre making a 2nd run, somebody must want them, just not me. I never understood the point of mixing non vintage figures in a vintage collection. If its new and obscure characters you want, thats what the classics line is for. Its like somebody making the brick arcee or unicron prototypes for mass production. Its not vintage, so whats the allure behind making it a brick ?

No, I think the current plan is to either a). order the set of 5 or b). just the first two. Not sure why they are doing it this way, just put all 5 up for order in any combination one may need :BANG_HEAD:

But I have a feeling that you'll be able to get the last 3 you need in the near future.

I Vaguely remember lol. I just find it weird. When I think of vintage G1 figures, the whole "buyer beware" crowd comes to mind. I just find it hard to believe the people who are so against high quality KOs would put anything thats not vintage on their shelf. Sure they would obviously know its not vintage, but those G1 collectors tend to be very pro hasbro and arent into 3rd parties. At least thats the vibe I get from the few who post here who are only into vintage and not classics. Maybe im wrong. I wonder if Ryan would buy these ? Im curious how he feels about 3rd parties adding on to the fiction rather than stealing IP ? Since its not ripping off hasbro would he support it ? Or would he see it as an invasion of hasbros turf ?

An illegal fake that harms the unsuspecting buyer is an entirely different scenario to 3rd-party non-official transforming robot. Don't even try and compare the two.

I'd like these in my collection. Stylistically, they're a little off in a couple of ways, but overall I think they're nice. Its just a shame they're too expensive for me right now.

I wasn't challenging his position with the last comment. I was just wondering if his position is limited to Hasbro IP theft or does it go beyond into an "invading Hasbro's territory" position ? My question is would he display them with his vintage TF's since they are not stealing Hasbro IP ?

At the end of the day their both lumps of plastic that take away from Hasbro's profit. The only difference is one is Hasbro IP theft, and the other is jumping on the bandwagon at Hasbro's expense.

Also keep in mind when dealing with high quality KO's, almost all online retailers advertise them as KO's. The KO factories and KO retailers have nothing to do with the douches who put them up for sale on e-bay as being authentic. So you really cant blame them.

I don't really get into vintage collecting these days because I'm a classics guy. I just wondering how these glacialbots sit with the anti-IP theft crowd since it technically is invading Hasbro's turf.

What's wrong with this reply? Everything :-?

How many times do I & others need to explain this toy you? :-?

Hasbro keeps saying,95% of it's TF toys buyers come from kids & parents. This 95% are not buying 3rd party or KO's. Only a small fraction of Hasbro's 5% of adults fans who buy TF toys. Can also afford to buy 3rd party or KO's. So,No,3rd party & KO sales don't hurt Hasbro's TF toys sales profits.

Hasbro would care more if 3rd party TF toys were being stocked in brick & mortar retail stores in America.

Black market Specialty import sites owned by fans who sell 3rd party TF toys. that only hardcore fans know exist don't sell enough volume units to effect Hasbro's TF toy sales profits.

What? :BANG_HEAD: :HEADHURTS:

The Glacialbots is a new creation from FP. that copies none of HasTaks TF toys Or fiction designs. None of HasTaks TF toy personas IP were stolen & reused. so no IP theft here.

I don't think you get it, do you ? Im not wondering how Hasbro feels about the Glacialbots. IM wondering how the Pro-Hasbro die hard "only buy official" crowd feels about the Glacialbots. Most of them seem to take a stand against anything that steals Hasbro IP even if it doesn't hurt Hasbro's profits. We all know the Glacialbots don't steal Hasbro IP, but the concept is still in a way invading Hasbro's turf. So my question is simple. Do the die hard "Hasbro only" extremists accept the fact that Fansproject is adding to the official fiction with new characters specifically designed for a vintage G1 collection ? Or do these extremists shun the figures because they are not made by Hasbro ? In other words, is it just about IP theft or is it about Hasbro's turf ?

Why do you need to know what fellow fans think? Who cares,do you need there approval? or do you have that much spare time on your hands or mind?

some Fans only care what HasTak thinks. Because some are afraid HasTak might start suing & preventing the selling of these 3rd party toys.

I don't NEED to know what other fans think, I'm just INTERESTED in knowing what they think. Big difference. The "Hasbro only" crowd is pretty hardcore. They are willing to sacrifice buying some pretty awesome 3rd party products to prove they're loyal to a company that they have no financial stake involved. I call it blind loyalty. With that being said, does their extremism only target IP theft, or does it extend to a "stay away from Hasbro's turf" position ? I'm honestly curious how they feel. There extremism runs pretty deep. They are missing out on so much cool stuff that Hasbro cant and wont make. I prefer a well rounded classics collection that's based on the G1 cast, not a particular company affiliation.

I take it this is why so many fakes come directly from China on Ebay? And why said fakes aren't advertised as being KOs?

If we wanted to start labeling Hasbro's "turf" as being all transforming robots, then you would have to rule out collecting Macross\Robotech toys. Or Voltron. Or Power Rangers. Or a vast number of other similar ranges.

3rd Party robots are just that - transformable robots. They're not "Transformers", really and as figures like Springer or Roadbuster show - if Hasbro want to make them after a tiny company that makes up for an extremely limited amount of sales have done so already, that it won't stop them.

KOs don't harm Hasbro for the most part. Unless its a toy currently out. KOs harm the consumer, who may buy the toy totally unsuspecting, ending up with not the product they actually want. Its harmed online retailers in the past, too - Encore Metroplex is a fine example of that.

However - I'm not going to get into this debate "in full" as I'll end up with a sore head from bashing it against a brick wall!

Well robotech and voltron are their own original continuities. But fansproject made the glacialbots to be inserted into hasbros continuity unofficially. Thats what I mean by turf invasion. Not necessarily making transforming robots, but shoving non official characters into official fiction. Seems pretty touchy for some of those on here who swear by hasbro. But thats my personal opinion. Everyone seems to just attack my question rather than answering it straight up. When that happens, youve usually hit something that touched a nerve...

Im not sure why you would get offended. You post on this forum regularly so I assume youre a buyer of 3rd party products. Needles to say you wouldnt fall into the category of fans that I consider to be hasbro extremists. Its a pretty small group actually, but cmon you know they exist. I know the word extremist is generally used to describe negative outlooks, but I didnt mesn it in a bad way. You could be an extremist when it comes to house cleaning or personal hygiene. That doesnt make you bad or evil. When you think about it, the word "fan" is short for fanatic, which is often used to describe someone who goes to extremes. So calling them hasbro extremists is just being politically correct.

Thats what I mean by turf invasion. Not necessarily making transforming robots, but shoving non official characters into official fiction.

Following you so far...

There you go throwing people into buckets again...

Meh. My answer is I don't care what FP does. Seems like you're asking an overly technical question on a board where people don't have all that much discretion in their purchasing loyalties.
