Im not sure why you would get offended. You post on this forum regularly so I assume youre a buyer of 3rd party products. Needles to say you wouldnt fall into the category of fans that I consider to be hasbro extremists. Its a pretty small group actually, but cmon you know they exist. I know the word extremist is generally used to describe negative outlooks, but I didnt mesn it in a bad way. You could be an extremist when it comes to house cleaning or personal hygiene. That doesnt make you bad or evil. When you think about it, the word "fan" is short for fanatic, which is often used to describe someone who goes to extremes. So calling them hasbro extremists is just being politically correct.

I'm not at all offended, I just think that way of thinking is somewhat faulty. Think of it as a dispassionate, Shockwave-like parsing rather than an emotional reaction to your statement.

Sure there are people who only buy Hasbro products, but they have various reasons - either expense, wariness over QC, simple lack of interest, you name it. Lumping them all together as "extremists" just seems like a flawed way to make an argument.

Besides, if anything, you're an anti-Hasbro extremist. You would go out of your way to screw Hasbro, and screw them hard ( ). Or at least that's the impression you give.

I'm somewhere in the middle. Sometimes I think of myself as a Hasbro apologist, but I certainly buy 3rd Party stuff (MMC Leo Dux releasing this week! Woot Woot! ;) ), and enjoy what the unofficial market has to offer.

My point is that you're over-simplifying the fandom by applying labels, and I think that works against you.

I wasn't even considering people with QC complaints or short on funds as part of the Hasbro extremists. Theyre not the ones who beat the dead IP horse to a bloddy pulp. Even Hasbro has lost interest in targeting IP theft. Theyre too busy milking the 30th anniversary and preparing for bay mania. But some people wont accept the fact that 3rd parties (and KO's) are here to stay. They love to throw up the term "official" on these boards like if it was a shiny badge of honor. The IP wars are over. KO Toys martyred themselves for the good of the cause. Others have since taken their place. And 3rd parties flourish and continue to pry open the Hasbro vault of obscure characters with a crowbar. And TFW2005 never followed Seibertron's lead with the anti-3rd party stance as many had speculated they were going to. So when are these Hasbro extremists going to throw in the towel ? How must longer must were have to hear that annoying word "official" in these threads ? If they aren't "Hasbro extremists" then Im Santa Claus.

It's no secret I don't consider todays Hasbro corporate the creator of G1. They just inherited G1 and dug it out of it's grave. So honestly I consider G1 IP nothing but a joke. a bunch of papers that have been locked in a vault for 30 years passed down from CEO to CEO in the Hasbro corporate succession. For the record I'm not as anti-Hasbro as people think I am. I buy plenty of Hasbro TF products. I'm in the middle just like you. With a majority of the G1 creators retired from Hasbro or dead, my allegiance is to the G1 characters themselves. not the corporate suits who retain G1 copyrights. so in retrospect, I really don't give a damn who fills the gaps in my collection. As long as someone does.

I think youre not reading my question. Like everybody else youre attacking my statements and avoiding the question. The question is "are you ok with the glacialbots being unofficially inserted into official hasbro fiction, or do you consider it an invasion of hasbros turf ? This question was directed to the hardcore hasbro extremists (which i was forced to describe later on) I dont consider you part of that group because you own FP intimidator. But sometimes you act like you are part of that group...

Why would you ask a question to "hasbro extremists" in a Third party fourm?
They wouldn't be here to answer your question.

FP glacialbots were designed to be displayed with official hasbro vintage figures. They were even given backstory in an attempt to link them to official fiction. Many vintage G1 collectors are hasbro extremists because if they dont collect classics, what other option besides hasbro do they have ? So im wondering how they feel about adding these glacialbots to their vintage G1 collection. Yay or nay and why ?

I'm saying there's no hardcore Hasbro Extremists in a third party fourm!!! they're not here to read your question.

Why not create a new topic in a General discussion and ask! you can Link them to this topic for reference to wth you're talking about. just a suggestion. cause you'll never get an answer posting here.

A hasbro extremist is somebody who hates any transformable robot that is not made by hasbro because of loyalty to IP holders. Is there one person on this forum who can just answer my question instead of avoiding it or attacking my logic ? Sheesh...

Thank you. But you do collect 3rd party stuff too though, right ? Im a bit more curious how those who dont view this set ? Since its brick figures, it really doesnt fit with anything else but vintage hasbro figures. Vintage collectors tend to avoid 3rd parties unless they collect classics lines too. Thanks for answering though.

You didn't get it, did you, X? I answered to end this discussion. You are right, I am not the same as Ryan in particular, many others in general, in my opinions about Hasbro IP. To the point that mooncake, and likely others, made: your targeted audience, your collection of so-called "extremists," is not here. I understand your curiosity about their opinions on this. It's something that I think would be great to ask. Try PMing Ryan and see if you get a response. But it is ever so evident that you will not find the answer here among this crowd.

So, again, to Glacialbots. Does anyone have the final member yet? What do you think? Are they worth it for what they are?

Alright, that's enough. No more going round and round on this issue. The question's been asked and answered and no amount of browbeating will change anything.

That being said, ganging up on one member is not welcome here.

All of you need a time out. This is ridiculous. Keep it up and the thread's getting locked. It'll get cleaned up and reopened and anyone who screws with it again is getting a stern talking to.

My words may seem silly, but I'm completely serious and even a bit angry, so take my words seriously.

Yes, I have the complete set and think they were well worth the price (about $200). I displayed them a bit as individual bots and alt modes, but ultimately he's combined on my shelf with a few other G1 combiners. Quality of the materials is superb and I love the color palette on him. I only wish I had a set of Technobots to display next to him.

The animal motif isn't distracting, it's quirky enough to illicit that 80s nostalgia. Also, that is one big friggin combined gun he wields. Almost like a friggin rail gun (insert Evangelion reference *now*).

Again, I think he's worth it. So many options for play with the mini-figures/heads and weapons. It just meshes as a true team/set.

You have to apply the majority of the stickers. If I remember correctly, they may have come with one or two from the sticker sheet already applied. It was kinda funny, in a sadistic way.

Exactly! This was one of those concepts from FP that I thought was awesome! If I recall correctly, they treated this whole line as if it were real G1 transformers from way back when. They did the partial application of sticker sheets, ala going to a flea market or antique store and finding a bunch of gently used Transformers that someone played with a little bit, applied some of the stickers, but ultimately threw in a box and forgot about until some mother or grandmother took them to the antique store or flea market. The there was a story (I'm sure it was completely fictitious, but awesome none-the-less) about how, with one of the characters, the entire shipment ended up in a container that fell off of a freighter in the ocean and was lost. Only, they found a warehouse full of that same character, but was intended for a country outside of the US, so it had multi-lingual packaging.

Ah, good times with the Glacialbots. I really should pick these up.... Image

(I answer to Ag or Ags. Agamemnon is too long to type. Plus, there is something elemental about calling me Ag. :-D )

I like the Glacia-lords I'm glad they exist, I would happily "Scramble city" with (for example) the Technobots.

I like them even more because they are a loose homage to the Ice age alt modes Grimlock rejected as not bad ass enough.

They actually improve over the originals as the way the Chest-formers fit in them means you get a stronger knee joint and also no issue with paint rubbing.

I hope they make another Retro-future team sometime if they can think of a theme that is complementary to the Glacia-Lords.

The only complaints I have about them is small ones to do with weapon storage and some minor over-tightness fiddlyness on the torso.

I've got 4 of them so far and I look forward to hopefully finding a Megazero sometime to complete the set.
