Tsut, you really ask a lot. Can you pick one of them? The reason I offered is to give someone an idea of size of the FP dinobots next to something they already own. I'm not looking to further the silly debate about height being the sole indicator of size class.

I'll do Columpio against one of those, if you really want... But, I figure you'd have Springer, right?

If you're doing comparison pictures why not put it next to the old Voyager Classics Prime mould and the new Combiner Wars Prime?

If pressed I'd say they're beefy voyagers. One of the only Ultras I have is Galvatron G and I'm pretty sure there's a few voyagers the same height as he is. These size classes aren't all about height; they have to fit inside the standard box of their era and have the play features. Most Ultras have light and sound gimmicks, if I recall correctly. Modern voyagers are in between old Ultras and old voyagers. Taller than old voyagers, but lacking the gimmicks of old Ultras too.

Also worth noting is that these toys were made to fit a BOX- and this is a BIG concern, Today that means robot mode, but for Ultra Silverbolt and Onlaught that meant vehicle mode.

But, you know ... these really aren't either voyager or Ultra. They're Fansproject's own size. They're made to look nice with a variety of Classics figures, but they're not built to Hasbro's specs.

Great points, Gauntlet. I have my FP Dinos on shelves made up mostly of the first Classics and subsequent Generations/Universe figures. Columpio (and especially Cubrar) tower over all voyagers with the exception of Classics Jetfire. (Blitzwing is off on the Decepticon shelf.) This was why I estimated Ultra sized. And I think you hit it on the nose Gauntlet; I don't see any way to shoehorn either Cubrar or Columpio into a Voyager box. (Heck, I'm not sure they'd fit into an Ultra box...)

But I think this pic illustrates just how pointless, in my opinion, discussion of particular Hasbro size classes are. And even though CW Prime and Columpio are of a similar height, and Prime's shoulders are much wider, Columpio is much deeper, especially with more bulk in the legs.

Image

Indeed, I really like the FP sized Dinobots for fitting in with my Classics Prime and cast. CW Prime actually looks a bit over-sized in among the Classics cast I have assembled on my shelf. But, that's my preference and others may feel differently.

Like, I'm sure Tsut may have mentioned somewhere his desire for larger sizes....

Yeah, that's how I thought it'd turn out.

If we're talking about old size classes then I'd probably go with Ultra too. In modern terms I'd go with beefy voyager (they aren't really either though). The new voyagers throw the old scale system off completely. Personally, I think the Dionos were meant to go with the old classics/henkei Voyager Prime. I agree, the new CW Prime and Megs make everyone look too small. I like that mould more for Motormaster. Sure he'll make the Classics Seeker look even smaller than they already are, but the Decepticon scale is way worse than the Autobot one in my collection. I'm really tempted to get the iGear Seekers and FoC Soundwave JUST for the scale. But that's a pretty pricy proposition for $900 worth of figures.

Interesting, because I prefer Classics Prime when scaled next to these FP Dinobots. I much prefer them being bigger than Prime. They're the Autobot's heavy brutes, so they suit being bulkier and taller (with the exception of Swoop).

It's frustrating because CW Prime is great in terms of height compared to recent Voyagers like Springer, Roadbuster and the CW Voyagers, but it's such an ugly mould. It's too wide, has a tiny head, and a crap alt mode. Classics Prime is still a much better figure, IMO. The proportions and paint apps are great, it's just a shame that compared to recent figures he's looking a little short and not quite the imposing figure Prime should be. I still prefer the way he scales with these Dinobots though.

The perfect scenario would be to have a classics Prime figure upscaled to CW Prime height, and the FP Dinobots to be a head taller than that. Of course, beggars can't be choosers and I'm just glad we have such awesome figures as it is. I can't be picky!

Although voyager Springer is better in most ways, I still like 'ol Warbot Defender as my Springer because of his height. As a deluxe he looks right next to Protector, Arcee, Blurr, and Kup. And Roadbuster was always supposed to be on the large side, wasn't he?

Some of the CW voyagers are frustrating. I think that CW Cyclonus would work well next to Mania King, but he's just so ... poopy looking in bot mode. I'm not sold on CW Prime, but CW Motormaster seems like a win to me. Honestly, I think my Decepticons are in far worse shape size-wise than my Autobots (who, as cars, haven't gotten the short end of the stick size-wise).

If you use CW Prime as "your" prime, getting the Fanstoys MP Dinos would probably be the best fit scale-wise. Of course, then you have to go Warobotron on all your combiners.

**** scale.

Motormaster is a total win. He's my favorite CW figure (from a standalone perspective) by far.

Well this is what I got from BBTs

Good morning Jason ~

Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, we have not received any bonus or replacement parts for the hips from the manufacturer for Columpio thus-far. Thank you for the information that the parts may be available. Our Product Team will investigate further, and if we are able to obtain these parts and/or receive any additional information, we will surely let you know right away. In the event that the parts become available with the next run, we will be happy to ship them to you at no cost when they are received.

Thank you for your patience, and have a wonderful day!

I would think that both the hip fix and the blue torso will come in little baggies, BBTS style. Maybe they are inside.

I was surprised by the arrival of FP Swoop today whilst waiting for Combiner Wars Wave 3. The replacement hips were in the box with Swoop in a baggy with install instructions. The Blue torso came in a separate small brown box with no markings.

Got Swoop in the mail. He's fantastic. With the blue chest he's really everything I could want in a modern Swoop.

I also installed the hip fix on Sludge. While it's effective, it does limit the leg articulation significantly. When all is said and done, I think Sludge will wind up being the one with the most problems.

Limits the leg articulation in what ways ? Anything worse than the average hasbro figure ? I could care less about karate kicks or cheerleader splits so im hoping its all good...

More in the ways of "cheerleader splits." They go out a little now, but not a whole lot. In that way, it's definitely worse than the average Hasbro figure. Most Hasbro figures have ball joints or double hinges that allow for a full range of motion. The new hips COULD have had the full range of motion, but the way the new hips are designed there's a limit on how far they go out. It's actually really strange as the legs are plenty tight , so there's no need to have it be so limited.

Got my Swoop over the weekend. Gotta say the blue chest is really nice. Be careful doing the chest replacement though have to pop a bunch of stuff out of ball joints. Kind of scary. For the head ball joint do unscrew the screw on the back of the head it helps a bit to loosen it up.

Did the Sludge hip replacement too, it is muchhhhhhhh better now. but there are new limitations that weren't there before, gotta kind of learn how to repose him now, but I do enjoy the much tighter hips.
