Glad I got him on preorder....

Still don't get why Steelcore hasn't made it to e-tail stores yet.

He looks like he tranforms into a ball or a cheeseburger. Very odd and not from FP I'm guessing.

Because people have a affliction of liking old, outdated designs, and want them to be repeated every two years.

1986 to 2012 does not equal 2 years.

I meant "G1 inspired", not just Broadside, who honestly was one of the worst G1 toys. either way.

So this just leaves Sandstorm and Blitzwing for G1 triple-changers who don't have some sort of G1 representation. And no, I do not count that Scout-class redeco or TF: Animated Blitzwing.

I liked the classics, but imagine a properly done Astro-train.
Blitzwing is a must, I wonder why iGear hasn't copied the Custom MP
one on eBay.

Yeah, me too. I wanted G1 inspired (more so than this), which was all I was complaining about. What we got instead would be comparable to WfC/FoC Optimus Prime. He's certainly still Optimus Prime, just as this is still (in a way at least) a version of Broadside. But if I'm looking for a Prime that transforms into a truck even remotely similar to the G1 version, I won't settle for the WfC or FoC version of Prime, I want MP-10 or Classics or something along that line. That's the only reason FP's creation didn't strike the right nerve with me. It's nothing against them at all, and as I said before, it looks like a really cool figure, it's just not quite what I was looking for.

Seriously awesome. I'd love to be able to go into a restaurant with my friends and whip all our toys out on to the table, taunting the kids with how inferior theirs are.

I think my Assaulter robot mode will be a mix of the two: masked face but with the other versions legs. Can't wait.

You guys DO realize that FP are kinda... attempting to branch-out & do their own thing with their latest figures, right? I realize most of their figures homage TF characters, but FP has definitely got their own style & look going on. They are not making Masterpiece or Classics figures for Hasbro...

Yep, I absolutely do, and in fact I commented on exactly that in one of my earlier posts. I actually like their style, just not this particular figure. In fact, when I talked about this earlier I referred specifically to the fact that I LOVE what they're doing with the Stunticons even though they're so vastly different from the vehicle modes we know from G1 etc.

I get what they're doing, I like what they're doing, I just don't like this particular figure enough to pay for it and put on my shelf to be my Broadside. Again, it's not a slam against FP at all, just expressing my tastes, nothing more.

Astrotrain... he could be improved, no doubt. But for the time and size, I like him.

That's a far more convincing carrier mode than the official transformation.

Yeah, but the bridge should be off to the starboard side and the deck....okay, I can't really complain. The whole cruiser mode was already growing on me and this is really only gravy. I'm glad I preordered. :)

It's not a bad looking form. Is this an unofficial mod or do we now have a triple-changer with five modes? :???:

I'd HARDY call that another mode... the guns are closer together than the "Cruiser mode" and the legs are turned, that's about it from what I can tell. I'd call it a variation of a mode... as I would call the alternate bot mode (which is the equivalent of switching out Giant's or Herc's head and swapping the limbs). Still a triple-changer in my book.

Agreed. In fact, the 'cruiser mode' on the box looks like a fan mode more than anything else.

Great !!!! Now thats WTF Im talking about !!! I dont care if its an official or unofficial mode, but that is much better !!! Maybe the Macross mode was just some kind of alternate mode. Kind of like how the remainder of the Protector trailer had 2 different cannon modes.
