Because people have a affliction of liking old, outdated designs, and want them to be repeated every two years.
1986 to 2012 does not equal 2 years.
I meant "G1 inspired", not just Broadside, who honestly was one of the worst G1 toys. either way.
Yeah, me too. I wanted G1 inspired (more so than this), which was all I was complaining about. What we got instead would be comparable to WfC/FoC Optimus Prime. He's certainly still Optimus Prime, just as this is still (in a way at least) a version of Broadside. But if I'm looking for a Prime that transforms into a truck even remotely similar to the G1 version, I won't settle for the WfC or FoC version of Prime, I want MP-10 or Classics or something along that line. That's the only reason FP's creation didn't strike the right nerve with me. It's nothing against them at all, and as I said before, it looks like a really cool figure, it's just not quite what I was looking for.
You guys DO realize that FP are kinda... attempting to branch-out & do their own thing with their latest figures, right? I realize most of their figures homage TF characters, but FP has definitely got their own style & look going on. They are not making Masterpiece or Classics figures for Hasbro...
Yep, I absolutely do, and in fact I commented on exactly that in one of my earlier posts. I actually like their style, just not this particular figure. In fact, when I talked about this earlier I referred specifically to the fact that I LOVE what they're doing with the Stunticons even though they're so vastly different from the vehicle modes we know from G1 etc.
I get what they're doing, I like what they're doing, I just don't like this particular figure enough to pay for it and put on my shelf to be my Broadside. Again, it's not a slam against FP at all, just expressing my tastes, nothing more.
