I'm gonna have to wait for reviews on this one. I'm not really liking the proportions much and from what I've seen of the plane mode, it doesn't look too great.

Why is it we have seen full color pics but still no pics of the carrier mode ? Or did I miss it ?

I don't think you missed it. We've only seen the close-up of what I think is the front with the miniature Defender and Steelcore figures on the "deck".

This actually has me worried that the carrier mode sucks... Hopefully someone around here did order the 3 pack and will take pics for us. I would if I had ordered it. My accountant has been unhappy lately... (Read: accountant=wife)

His box is making him look really small. I am disappointed to see that he fits in the same box as Defender. That's a real shame. At this point I need to see some straight up finished product shots of all modes with some common Vlassics molds (Starscream, Bumblebee, Optimus Prime or Sunstreaker). No camera tricks, just comparison shots.

Agreed, I'm not sure what the point is in hiding the carrier mode at this point. I would say though that Assaulter fills up pretty much the height of the box by the looks of it, this picture below shows how high up Defender is in comparison.

I've seen people complain before about Defender and SC having unused space in the box. And now this... It's quite funny.

Did you catch this one? [edit: daimchoc posted this at the end of the last page. Credit where it's due. :)]

Also, there've been a couple next to Defender and Steelcore, if you have either of those figures. Assaulter looks to be slightly larger than Classics Voyagers.

Eek, now I see why they've been hiding it. That looks nothing like an aircraft carrier (not one from Earth anyway :P).

I think I'm gonna pass on this guy. It's a bit too much of a departure from the original character's look for me. That jet mode looks more like Jetfire/Skyfire to me than Broadside and I still don't like his proportions in bot mode.

The carrier mode is not cutting. As someone already pointed out, this fits better in the Macross universe than the TF universe. Is there more to this? The back of the carrier has tail fins that look to have runway lines on them.

Good eye. I think you're on to something. Maybe they'll surprise everyone with a more legit battleship versus the cruiser mode.

It's the back of the box, so I think that's just it, guys. I guess one of the three modes of a triple changer must suffer, even for FP.

Uggghhh the boat mode really sucks. Im so sick of this neo crap. Gimme some real G1. But I must admit the other 2 modes are awesome so I will buy it.

Edit: now that I think about it, with the G1 toy, the plane mode really suffered to make a nice carrier mode. I guess this time it's the other way around. But at least the robot mode is on point.

I do in a way admire the SDF-1 look. However, the Jet mode will probably be the display state.

I have G1 Broadside, and that toy wasn't very good. Indeed, the Jet mode suffered greatly. And, the character is probably the worst for mass shifting, IMHO. I mean, does anybody know just how big an aircraft carrier is? Then to go to a jet?

The best Triple changers were Astrotrain and Blitzwing, though I never had a Springer...

In the cartoon, Broadside's jet mode was massive. He used to carry the other Autobots like a spaceship.

I don't like the looks of this guy so I'm not biting. What they're doing with the Stunticons looks cool just because I like the way they look, kinda like Transformers: Prime Wheeljack (one of my favorite car modes ever), but for Broadside, I was really hoping for something that looked a lot more like what we got on the show.

It's great for Macross fans/collectors I guess, but this TF collector is staying away.

Considering that in order to have a 'CHUG' Broadside it is either this or trying to repaint tidal wave, this is the only choice for me. Yeah the carrier mode is crap, I guess they were hoping no-one would notice. The Jet is fantastic and the robot mode is a good amalgamation of Cartoon/comic Broadside and his IDW look. Will buy :D

Agree to disagree I guess. It's actually the jet mode that kills it for me. I was hoping it would look like it did in the G1 cartoon (or at least anywhere even remotely near what it looked like), but this thing looks like another Classics Jetfire. I've already got one of those, I don't need another.

I guess this is FP's deal now though. They're shooting for a very non-Transformers look with most of their figures these days. All very panel-lined/anime styled with lots of sharp edges. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, it just doesn't work for me for this particular character. G1 Skyfire like in the cartoon would have been a good choice for such a style/look, but of course that makes sense since the original Jetfire toy was a Macross figure released under the TF toyline.

Considering it says 'Cruiser Mode' I'm not sure I understand why some are unhappy that it isn't an aircraft carrier. I mean... Defender has a tank-esque car mode so it isn't like FP putting their own spin on things is necessarily new. Besides, it isn't that much of a stretch from a Space Cruiser to an Aircraft Carrier, is it?

All in all it isn't perfect, but I'm not disappointed either. Another good looking figure in my book and another character to cross off my list.

So FP... what's the next Triplechanger on the chopping block? :KREMZEEK:
