Favorite Star Trek series?

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

Series:
DS9-TNG. Each have their own great qualities.
Enterprise. Yeah. I'm an Enterprise lover. Series 3 was OMG and in Season 4, it was finally starting to feel like Star Trek.
TOS. Best camaraderie between the characters, but weak plots.
Voyager. Bad plots. Too much technobabble. Janeway missing the blatently obvious in the pilot: The Kazon had gone. Plant time bombs aboard the Array and send Voyager home. The time bombs would have destroyed the Array and Voyager would be home. Daft woman. And it showed the almighty Borg as weak and pathetic as teh Ferengi in their first encounter. Although it did have some great singular eps.
Can't remember the animated series so I can't judge it (although I have seen it).

Movies:

First Contact
Undiscovered Country
Wrath of Khan
Generations
Nemesis
Search for Spock
Insurrection
Voyage home
Final Frontier
Motion Picture.
Beast Wars FOREVER!

Oh I quite agree. It everyone who seems to hate Enterprise always comes down to one thing

"It destroys previously established continuity! Boo boo!"

I find it extremely laughable considering the original Star Trek didn't even keep it's own continuity straight.

not me, i just took a instant disliking to it and apart from the opening song i still couldnt tell you why.

No, but I've seen images on Startrek.com. Honestly, I don't like the new cgi Enterprise. It looks too artificial. Like the large explosions in Voy ended up looking. I'm all for updating the SFX, but I think the old models looked more realistic (if as manouverable as a slug). TNG had the most realistic ships IMO. They should do it like that was done.

They have done nicely with it so far, another one is going to be on tonight here. However, I always liked TOS, regardless of the visuals ( which I always thought were just fine as they are ), cause special effects should only add to the story, not replace it.

Considering the very little time and money invested in it, the new remastering looks pretty good. Plus the cgi template ofthe Enterprise is pretty much the same as the Defiant used for Enterprise in "In a mirror Darkly". :D

Only Star Trek series that managed to survive my tastes after puberty hit was and is DS9. It's the only series with a decent plot. Shame about the last episode. Penaltimate episode, a huge war is brewing, final episode, peace man, lets do some hardcore drugs, we love hippies. BOOORING...

1) DS9
2) Enterprise

Liked the politics and war in both of these.

3) Voyager - Seven of Nine. 'Nuff said
4) TOS
5) TNG - nice ships, but dodgy outfits

I myself prefer a trek with less war, less politics and more exploring the unknown.

I didn't know they just chopped it together quickly, but I still say it looks too artificial. As if your watching a computer game, not a tv show. I thought that about the Defiant as well. Maybe it's because theres no detailing on the panelling but the other ships look alright, just the old Constitution class ships.

The majority of ST episodes looked to be heading for a cliffhanger before suddenly finishing in a happy happy joy joy way.
Never had that happen with Babylon 5.

1) Enterprise- great acting and awesome cgi

2) TNG- Awesome cast of characters that you actually care about

3) Voyager- not so good, but okay story-telling

4) DS9- don't know, never watched a single episode of this

1000) TOS- I'm sorry to all the Trekkies here, but TOS was such utter crap, I don't even know the words to convey my feelings of disgust with this.

Three words: Deep Space Nine. An excellent ensamble cast, a darker more mature tone, and some great stories with repercussions felt in some cases, years later. Easily the best Star Trek series, shame it sometimes seen as the black sheep of the franchise.

I have to totally agree with you on this one.

Because it was a largely stationary environment, They had more time to devote to character development. Especially so for the villians.

See, where Voyager lacked was because they are always moving, in a straight line, they never set themselves up to really explore any character development other than the crew. Probably why they reverted to the borg so much, fill in that flaw.

TNG, suffered from this somewhat, but not nearly as much. DS9 had some very thoughtful story arcs. Now it's not for everyone, but it was engaging.

Enterprise, although good on it's own, is really hard for me to relate to in terms of star trek lore. Though, Trips death was probably the most believable and sincere one I can remember since spock died from replacing the wrong wattage lightbulb in engineering.

I've been watching TOS all over again since they fixed the special effects up, space scenes and such, really cool to see. They did it without ruining the spirit of the show.

Just my two bits, but in the end my vote is with DS9.

Most people, including myself, HATED the way they off'ed Trip. He was in more dangerous jams before and just blew himself up when a few no name aliens ( one sounding alot like Jack Palance ) boarded ship.

I am GLAD that the TOS remastering has not ended up doing a George Lucas, I tell you what. :)
