You still need to explain why TOS is "Such utter crap". It's like someone saying they hate roastbeef or something, but won't tell you why.

Fair enough. Acting sucked. The bridge looks like something out of a childs playroom. Story lines were overly cheesy. But mainly, the acting sucked. Shatner didn't learn how to do it properly till the Wrath of Khan. Same with the rest, although I always felt Scotty was pretty good.

The visual effects were crap, though I haven't watched any of the remastered episodes yet, so I can't really use that one anymore.

Considering it was made on a very low budget in the 60's with a bunch of not very well known actors willing to work for a pittance, you can't blame them. And I think I read a book on the story of TOS that stated the company that did the exterior shots were done in a garage. It was that low budget.

Dr Who was made on a very low budget in the 60's and it produced far more interesting story lines, oh and didn't get cancelled until nearly 30 years later.

Then there was Kirk who had to sleep with every female alien nearly every episode. Riker was doing that too until Roddenberry died.

Yeah, but Who was made by the BBC. We Brits seem to be more easygoing on shows than the American networks.

My number one favorite version of Star Trek?

Enterprise. Hell, my dad and I are glued to the set, every monday night for 4 hours on Sci-Fi.

We don't care about the continuity errors, we tend to look at it as a fresh new story, somewhat of it's own universe. Yeah, it's supposed to tie-in, etc...but even with history written as it has been in Trek....the show is still fantastic because it truly captures what the show was always meant to be about:

"To seek out new life, and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no one has gone before"

They're explorers and they truly captured that with Enterprise, and that theme, mixed in with the humor (most likely the funniest of the ST shows), and the humanity...oh the humanity....it's a great show. I regret not watching it now. I really do.

TNG is my next favorite because of Data. He's more human than the rest of them, and us. It asked tough questions, it was open minded.

TOS is my next favorite (because they've remastered it) and it's the Shat. How the hell can you not love the Shat?

Voyager follows next because it was at least watchable to some extent.

DS9 comes in at a distant, final, crappola rating because...it's a friggin' coat rack in the middle of nowhere (literally) and they focused on people I just don't give a damn about. No thanks.

Archer and crew...PWN.

I guess I'll do this again since my post got lost in the last board-fart.

1) DS9 (Avery Brooks was one of the best things to ever happen to Star Trek.)
2) TNG (The series that got me into Trek.)
3) TOS (Absolutely classic.)
4) Enterprise (At least it's not voyager.)
5) Voyager (I just couldn't take it anymore when a major plot devise became Janeway threatening to blow up the ship every other episode.)

1. TNG (Picard is my favorite captain and I just love Q.)
2. DS9 (I really enjoyed the epic storylines involving the Cardassians and the Dominion.)
3. Original (Kind of cheesy, but good for its time.)
4. Voyager (I can't stand Janeway, and the "Lost in Space" premise just didn't do it for me.)

I can't rank Enterprise because I've never seen it.

TNG...the Borg are one of the creepiest, coolest villians EVER. And it's a nice jab at those commie bastards!!

I thought this was a transformer forum. Are you guys bored with transformers and thats why you guys wanted to talk about something else. And why talk about star trek. All Star Trek is, is a bunch of different species of beings floating around in space shooting frickin lazer beams saying beam me up scotty. Anything I am not disclosing about star trek is just a bunch of star trek drama about tribbles and flibbles. Star trek is a show made by somebody who wanted to go into space so bad they had to go there in reality or make one up. I am not totally unreasonable, I have seen a few episodes and some of them get interesting but I cant stand all the different species where all they do is add pointy ears or an extra eye or maybe a wierd tatoo to differenciate the different types of beings. So it looks like a bunch of humans trying to act the part with wrinkles in their forehead and nose trying to act tough or acne in their temples and their psychic. At least star wars had the right idea. Star Trek Blows.

Why they all sucked

Cmon! They all stink because its the same stuff rehashed endlessly with nothing new except the names and which piece of latex gets attached to the forehead. Ships get reused, races get over-used, and plot lines show up again and again. BORING!. At least shows like Babylon 5 were so different and did surprising things, and Red Dwarf where they at least made a comical rehash of Sci Fi plots. Star Trek in all its cash-in incarnations was just trying to stretch a premise and keep the spheghettio eating basement living mommas boys glued to their sets wondering what real girls were like. Quit watching seven of nines rack and get a girlfriend, dingus! The shows got worse as time went on because you the fans got older and more complicated, some of you began to question the whole Trek meaning of your lives. The shows had not changed, you did! You grew up, got taste and complexity, demanded quality of your TV.... These shows are repetetive bore-fests and you are better off watching old Space 1999 episodes or even Lost in Space with fruity pedephile Dr. Smith. Keep away from me, Keep Away young Robinson!!
Honestly dont talk about what show is best or worst, just do what more and more trek fans did, move on and take your starship posters down of the wall. Put the plastic phaser down, take off the ears, and forget continuity theories. Go see if the sun is out and get some air.....

Umm...this is a TF Forum, that's why the Topic is General Discussion.

And, paragraphs are your friends. So is independent thought...

You must have the trek poster...yeah I think you do. Its my opinion that your opinion is incorrect and mine is correct, and its my opinon that you havent had an independant thought since you taped your last Enterprise episode. Thats just my freely expressed opinion though... An enlightened person like you wont take issue with that.

And paragraphs are for letters to Congress or Dear Johns, not star trek forums with people who believe warp drive and klingons are cool.

I however am cool... and your next response to my posts will make me cooler. Go upstairs and tell your mom you looked for a job today or she will be mad. GO!

Goobertron. Moff-V8. You are new to this site so perhaps you don't know. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You hate Star Trek. Fine. I can accept that. This is the general Discussion thread. It's a place for non tf related discussions. Now, if you want to enter this thread and say you don't like Star Trek, and give reasons for that (like you did about the storylines), it's also fine. However, if you enter threads and start slagging off the people who are interesterd in things you are not, you will find you quickly make enemies. Such as people have discovered many times in the new movie forum. If you don't like ST, why did you enter this thread? To slag us off? not cool guys, not cool at all.

You are right, I was deliberately slagging you and wanted to invoke just the response I got. I am deeply ashamed.

Star trek sucks because its fans cant let a dead horse lie down.

Uh Oh Spaghettios!

No, I won't take issue with your freely expressed, emotive, internet chicken-scratch, because I already know that it won't last. Have all the fun you want. You're cool.

I have no idea what just happened above, since I didn't read any of the topic before I posted. Anyways. I've always liked Star Trek ever since a friend of mine got me into ST:TNG. That's probably my favorite series, but the "classic" series has to be the most interesting. It started everything, after all ;) I've seen bits of the "revamped" Star Trek series, with the new theme music and model shots. They did a pretty good job of fitting that stuff into the old show.

Well I said I dont like Star Trek more because of visual affects and I expressed that. And like I said I dont hate it, I just dont like it. I think they could have done much better with such a vast scheme, I mean its space, with countless ideas that could have been used. But think what you like. I saw this thread and thought to post how I feel about Star Trek. Maybe since this thread isnt called, "why you dont like Star Trek", you will consider it a thread jack or slagging or whatever. Its simply my perception of that show. Maybe I dislike it because it had such potential and never reached the greatness level it could have achieved. Or maybe I think it blows. But its just my opinion, that doesnt mean you need to get mad at me.

This kind of attitude is not needed or wanted around here. The other mods have warned you twice so consider this your third and final warning.

3 DSN

No one can beat Jean-Luke Picard in my book. Demands the respect of his crew without actually demanding it.
