You always gotta love G1 Optimus Prime, though the ones i really liked was the Movie and Prime version.

Not my favourite but i sure am fond of looking at this Prime.

OK, since no one else wants to, here I go. My favorite prime in fiction? Animated Optimus Prime.

No Peter Cullen? Stop complaining! I love the guy, but stoicimus is getting old, Animated Optimus had something that no other modern primes seem to have: Personality.

And when he lands on earth, he goes public, just like G1 prime. He also is weeker than most cons and has to use his brain to get him through most situations. He whent toe to toe with Megatron a few times. Megatron the tyrant. Megatron of legend. The Megatron that would never so much as acknowledge him as a worthy foe.

My favorite line from Animated? :My name...is OPTIMUS PRIME!!!

After that, he does what Ive seldom seen any other prime do. He gains Megatron's respect, and to an extent, fear.

Animated Optimus Prime wins because, besides all the crap he whent through with Megatron, Sentinel, and everything else, he also turned into a great leader, and at the end of the day, he had had problems and memories, regrets, just like everyone else.

And he wasnt afraid to listen to his team mate's problems and help wherever he could. He wasn't to dull to crack a smile, or liven up the mood when no one else would.

TL;DR He was a good leader, a great strategist, and was a great friend at the end of the day.

Toywise: RiD Optimus Prime or Cybertron. Tied.

Also, sorry, im on the PS3. It has a word limit, it sucks.

Generation 1 Optimus Prime is the classic model that all other characters are based on. Plus he has his own theme song until the end of time. Nobody can beat that.

Toy wise though, Laser Optimus Prime takes some beating. I'll always remember opening him up on Christmas day and proceeding to beat the shit out of G1 Prime's toy all day. Happy times.

Yes, yes, yes! I thought I was the only one. I couldn't agree more with your entire post.

Of all the series, Animated is by far my favorite. Although Jazz is my favorite character from Animated, I do love David Kaye's take on Optimus Prime. Even the back-story about how he went to the voice auditions thinking he was auditioning for Megatron and they asked him to do Prime's lines is compelling. The way that character developed throughout the show was spot on and overall the writing (combining story, humor, suspense and action) was by far the best. Also, finally, a show that gives someone with the name Ultra Magnus the proper respect that any name that begins with Ultra should received

I love G1, don't get me wrong and I am going to be sad to see TFP go at the end of the season but what I wouldn't give to get another season or two out of Animated.

As far as toys go, though, I have to say MP-10. I stare at it. I can't believe I own it and I feel like am looking at something that walked right off the screen of my TV. Two close seconds are Armada Prime (maybe because he is the newest in my collection) and Classics Prime (although I actually like the Ultra Magnus coloring better.)

This is a tough question for me. Off the top of my head, my favorite Optimus Primes are

1. G1 - THE original
2. Laser Rod Optimus Prime
3. Powermaster Optimus Prime
4. Cybertron Optimus Prime
5. ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime

Of those 5, the nostalgic factor wins for G1 Optimus Prime every time.

Laser Rod Optimus Prime was one of my favorite pre-Internet finds. Never heard of it. Didn't know I should be looking for it. And there it was ... at KB Toys on the top shelf. Only one left. Only time I ever saw it in stores. I bought it on my last day of high school.

Powermaster Optimus Prime is just a big, bad ass version of G1 Optimus Prime. I was 11 when I got him. My Dad bought him for me the weekend my little sister was born to let me know that I was still special. Aw, thanks Dad! Add the personal sentimental value to the build up of the character in the comic and the exclusion from the cartoon and the fact that it was MY first Optimus Prime, and it was a pretty cool Optimus Prime in my book. Fast forward to G2, Powermaster Optimus Prime FINALLY has an equally sized arch nemesis with G2 Megatron.

As for Cybertron Leader Class Optimus Prime, there's just something about this toy that I love. It's massive and has a lot of playability. It's cool looking ... very Japanese to me. Optimus Prime's with wings really get me, which probably comes from the first time I ever saw a God Ginrai boxed at the Motor City Comic Con way back in 1995 (what? they came out with an Optimus Prime with wings in Japan? how cool is that!?!?)

ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime is probably the quintessential Transformers toy to me representing everything I love about this brand in its modern incarnation. Its poseable. "Show" *ahem* Movie accurate. Big. Intricate. There are so many things to love about the most Masterpiece like Transformer to grace one of the regular retail lines.

Of those 5, I'd probably have to go with ROTF Optimus Prime as my favorite Optimus Prime toy. However, if I had to get rid of every Optimus Prime toy except for one, I'd keep the G1 version.
