My Friday started fantastically when AmiAmi sent me a box containing the new Figma from Max Factory. Skyward Sword Link looks amazing and great next to Figma Samus Aran. Check out my video review of it here:

Here is the screenshot mentioned in the video:

Not the biggest legend of zelda fan, but credit where credit's, I think the figure looks great. Image

Say do you possibly know if stores like BBTS, will get the Samus figma? or is it just generally discontinued?

Both Link and Samus are coming stateside. Not in a general release but they will be available from hobby shops. I think it's Diamond Select that is bringing them and they will be released in March next year.

Oh well that's neat :D. still, hope BBTS gets her soon, and wont be in that preorder purgatory like encore Skywarp and Thundercracker

That's a relief. I've wanted a good Samus figure for 18 years now. I tried to save money for Samus when it came out, but as always whenever I try to save money I get slapped with unexpected expenses.

Bad news for those that pre-ordered or are hoping to order the Figma Link and Samus from BBTS. I just got this email from them.

"Hi - Diamond Comics Distribution has just informed us that they have failed to secure the licensing needed to bring the Max Factory Samus Figma into North America. Diamond has completely cancelled all orders for the Samus Figma for all retailers and distributors in North America, including a huge order placed by BBTS. We are extremely upset with them because they are forcing us to disappoint you and so many other people on this item. Diamond officially solicited this item to us back in September and our orders have been in place with them for months, this news was shocking and extremely disappointing to us. Diamond apparently did not have the licensing deal fully worked out at the time of solicitation and in the past few months some sort of problem arose and the deal with Nintendo could not be worked out. We wanted to let you know about this as quickly as possible so you can try to secure an order with international/other vendors.

We have quickly checked with several distributors in Japan, and all of them are completely sold out, as is Max Factory. We are going to explore more options on possible supplies around the world, but at this point it honestly does not look good. We will leave all preorders open in the meantime in case we can find some sort of solution.

We again are extremely sorry about this, we did not expect Diamond to fail us on this item.

Sincerely,
Joel Boblit

Damn, that really sucks for you guys. Samus is just as amazing as Link is. The only thing that would have made her better was an unmasked head. I hope you can get one from another retailer.

yeah i've been looking all day, and it seems unless you know someone in japan who already has a few of these or a really obscure japanese retailer: most, if not all, retailers were relying on the Max factory/Diamond select trade agreement.

Try getting them from Amazon. The prices are a little steep, but they're reliable and usually in stock.

Also, I am tempted by them. Such lovely figures. I would have preferred Samus in her Varia suit from Metroid Prime, as it looks a lot more bulky and powerful, but the Figma they gave us is still great.

For those that are still looking for the Figma Link and Samus, BBTS has open pre-orders for the U.S. release of these figures.

Dammit I spent a hell of a lot more than that getting Samus on ebay. Maybe I'll get a second one to customize and sell to recoup the difference.
