I know this isn't so much Hasbro's doing as it is Bays, but still one would think that Bay would have learned his lesson by now. I'll wait for another 18 months for Hasbro to give us a proper Shockwave in the Generations line.
What lesson does he have to learn? That people still expect Classic/G1 designs in the movie-verse? If anything we should have learned by now that that isn't going to happen. They're unrealistic expectations. The movie aesthetic has always been entirely separate from anything remotely G1. A/E/C all benefit from a similar style, allowing them to more easily adapt an old design into an updated one. Blaming Bay for creating a design that fits his own aesthetic is, well, laughable. Of course Shockwave from the Bayverse isn't going to be an updated G1 design that still fits G1's own aesthetic. It retains his color scheme, his general head design, and homages his gun hand. No, he doesn't have a yellow eye. No, his hand isn't a gun. No, he doesn't turn into a gun. G1 Shockwave does. THIS isn't G1 Shockwave.
You'd think by now, with this being the third movie, people would've gotten the hint that anything that fits G1's design isn't going to be found in the Bayverse...![]()
WHOA!! Dude, I was making a half-hearted comment AT BEST. I KNOW this isn't G1, I never expected it to be a full on G1 Shockwave. He's about as G1 as as any incarnation of Movie Megatron is but holy crap I don't need a full paragraph dressing down over the whole situation and neither does anyone else on the site. Next time, get some input from me about the spirit in which my comment was intended or ask me for a little clarification but don't ever treat me like I'm a freaking idiot or a child! I'm sorry I worded my previous comment in such a way that the intent was misconstrued. My thoughts on the whole situation with Bays creations aren't simply a "black & white" subject. I take for granted the fact that there might possibly be folks on here capable of understanding such a thing but obviously I was wrong and this point has been wondrously illustrated.
