Yes. Haven't you ever heard the tale about Santa Prime and Cliffjumper the red headed Autobot? They saved Cybertronian Christmas during the big energon storm of 68.

Uggg so bad! I usually dont hate on the movies but this looks awful. Mark has a sword, now this...I hate facial hair on bots, and now they smoke! Very low expectations for this film.

kup had a cygar too but he didn't use it for smoking, he chewed on it to release a substance he became addicted to while he was shipwrecked on a planet.

I really could see that as Kup. Perhaps the head belongs to that mysterious rusted flat faced truck. It does resemble a stereotypical trucker. And we all know how much Bay loves stereotypes.

Considering that the thing looks like it was poorly 'shopped into the picture to begin with, I'm going to have to say that it looks like... a publicity stunt.

Seriously though, you folks pissing and moaning about that picture and the aesthetics of the robots... OMG you guys are f'ing HILARIOUS!!!

They could have posted pics of Bays last family reunion on top of that pole for all you know, or for all that it even matters. It's a POINT OF REFERENCE ffs and that's it!!!
I'd say "pull the stick out" folks but on second thought, no... keep it in there. Bay may need more points of reference later on in the filming and you guys could save him a lot of time and money by filling in for the pictures. :grin: 8-}

Eh, Robot Beard never bothered me too much, even back in G1.

I'm just venturing a guess here, but given the vague Army-like helmet, the sunglasses, and the pipe, it feels like enough of an homage to Douglas MacArthur to me that I'm leaning toward Hound on this one.

Kind of reminds me of a dog; the nose and beard do, at least. Could be Hound.

Yes, I see how discussion/analysis can be a sinful/laughable act.

Seriously though, what do you think discussion boards are made for? It's the first robot head from TF4 we're seeing, and we don't know who it is. Naturally, we are welcome to speculate and state our opinions. You act like this has never been done before under ANY circumstances.

Seconded. Obviously we don't know for sure and wont know until we actually sit through the whole movie. And just for the record:

I don't think I need to compare these to the actual in-movie robots that look EXACTLY THE SAME. Nothing's for sure, but its DEFINITELY a good guess that we're seeing the real (blurry) thing.

I have no problem with "hair" on robots, as long as it doesn't look like a huge bearded mess of metal. Just looks boring and lame with all the randomness of each piece. If it was more uniform, like a symmetrical mass of sensors, or some exhaust vents or something with some visually believable purpose that is not so blatantly for the sole purpose of being hair. Leadfoot looked pregnant, but at least I bought the illusion of a beard without it being a bunch of random metal pieces all mushed together.

that is sooooo HOUND. be better if he was named kup. but hey, i like this, hound being an old war bot is kinda fitting. alot of fans might rage about it. but eh. least he looks humanish.

This doesn't bode well.

Ah, at least I won't have to worry too much about it, since I've given up on the films completely ever since DOTM.

so would you rather they look insectoid! (like some decepticons)or constructicons with a giant wheel instead of legs or a pogo stick so they can hop around
give me a break, looking humanoid is far better

That's a logical and reasonable assumption. A rare sight on the movie forum.

I like some to look insectoid, some to look double wheeled instead of conventional legs, and most of them look humanoid anyway, so great. They are an alien species who, with such a wild physiology, should have a wide variety among the species of being cybertronian. The NAILS in the comics look all sorts of wierd, and thats great. I just dislike this extreme form of looking humanoid coz it pretty much looks like a human wearing silver face paint. You say humanoid as if that is a very specific thing. I have no problem with the Cy-gar, if anyone thinks so, coz Kup has a legitimate reason for having such a cool accessory. That face tho... way too human, like Colossus with a beard.

i'm all for robots with facial hair.. i think it worked great for sentinel, jetfire, and leadfoot.

the complaint that i have is that this beard looks too human hair like.. if it were a bit more metal looking i'd really enjoy it.

but my opinion wont be officially made until i see the character in action.

hopefully soon enough we'll start seeing more faces.

i've been a big fan of the movie face designs in last movies.. especially the decepticons.. their faces all look super bad ass.

Its threads like these that remind me why i hang out in the 3rd party forum (thankfully hidden in a labyrinth of sub forums. So much speculation and hatred from a single image. this is transformers 4 this isn't a reboot. why would you expect the designs to be so drastically different? i was thinking today about Dr Arkeville, if he was ever in the live action films, how close would you really want him to G1? with his ridiculous metal dome. no one would take the franchise seriously. This movie is going to take a long time to arrive and you guys are going to piss and moan all the way to the premiere. don't you ever get tired of complaining? "I hate his beard" "Not robotic enough" "Too much humans not enough bots" You guys represent a vocal minority. that vocal minority is people on a forum who care enough about a beard to say so. the general audience eats that ISH up 3 times a day breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Beards:
Beards are not a human specific feature. why do Autonomous robotic being have them? who knows? maybe its a part of the cybertronian culture. maybe it represents status. maybe the junkions saw it on their TVs and tried to emulate it. Cybertronians are not robots. they are an alien race that happens to be robotic. Do they share physiolgy similarities like humans do? No. God No. Consider this. everything you see on a Transformer is part of their BODY. Thats not armor. thats their naked body staring at you. Shining in the sun. Twerkin' at yo face. Any beard you see, consider it armor. or just get over it. Their an alien race that has beards, so are humans.

Faces:
Can't win with you guys. It's either too human or not humanoid enough. for the bodies their given, they work perfectly. They have eyes and mouths to comunicate through. What else do you need? Looking at the image in this thread we have a 2D 3D image that is printed in greyscale, sideways, at an angle. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT! You want robotic, you can go in 4 directions: Wall-e, iRobot/Sentinels(XMen DoFP), G1 or what we're getting. You would hate Wall-e faces on these bots(i'm calling that right now), You would hate how little the iRobot/Sentinel faces resemble anything you've ever called Ironhide, Megatron or Grimlock, G1 is just human faces with helmets and square features( HOW BAD WOULD THAT TRANSLATE TO LIVE ACTION? SO BADDDDDD!), What we have is perfect for this medium.

Screen time:
These movies bring a lot of new interest and capitol to the franchise we love. The new blood for the most part would not be able to follow or get into the rich lore of the transformers mythos. for those people we need eye candy like Patrick Dempsey, John Malkovich, And the guy that played Sam's dad in the first 3 movies. "AFTERSHOCK! AFTERSHOCK! I hate those." HILARIOUS. stuff like that sucks them in. It works. A List actors add credibility to a film that has the name HASBRO at the beginning. Directors like Michael Bay and Producer's like Steven Spielberg Get the budget needed to prevent this film from looking like:
ImageImage

Be happy with what we got. it could be so much worse. These movies are blockbusters. you want story and character development? get the prequel and sequel comics that bridge the gap and explain things like Starscream's tattoos. AND FOR THE MOST PART ARE BOT-CENTRIC! they even include characters like the Target exclusive scout class figures from the first movie!

But seriously, please don't complain about the same stuff in every thread that has anything to to do with the movies. Please.
