First Look: Botcon 2012 Metalhawk In-hand

As a follow-up to the Botcon 2012 Invasion comic panel that the BotCon twitter feed revealed today, they also tweeted an image of what may be a test shot and might not be the final product. The figure is seen with two right arms. The final product hopefully will be assembled correctly.

He is seen here pictured with G1 Scoop who is also seen in the comic panel.

It's a cool homage to the original, but I'll be replacing the head the moment someone makes a robotic replacement.

I like the look of this, just want a better look at that head.

That site does not allow hotlinking. And you need to be registered in order to see them anyway.

Ah, sorry, it was from a link I previously had. If you Google BotCon Metalhawk it's like the third image on the page. I swear there was a better photo, but I'm not too keen on the figure, so apologies if I'm sort of being a loser here.

To quote a famous horse:

"No sir, I don't like it."

I may just be the first to point it out, but it looks like Metalhawk's left arm is either rotated too far around or has a right arm upper bicep piece.
:-?

They clearly misassembled metalhawk's left arm, there are obvious screws sticking out of it

Never been much of a fan of that mold, don't think I'll start now.

Comparing it with my Thunderwing, and you're right! He's got two right arms!

The irony is sooooo unbelievably thick. Seriously, who would have thought FP wouldhave QC problems on a figure! SURELY NOT I!!!

So... does this pretty much solidify Funpub's resignation as the "official fanclub" of transformers?

Even though everyone would love that, no. Keep dreaming. Besides, assembly errors are mostly the factories' fault, and should not affect the entire run of a figure. Plus, they happen more often than you think.

Pete has the following to say on TFW:
Pete@BotCon wrote:... This is the only MH I have on hand and figured most fans would get a kick out of seeing MH with Scoop. And I think most did and realize their MH will be just fine...

Apparently it's just a colour sample and not the final product.

You are not being a loser but if you are refering to this photo:

It's just a photoshop mockup. While the one in the original post (looking like it may not be final product and at a weird angle. An obvious attempt to hide his missassembled flaw) is a physical figure.

Yah, but it is the head they're using. Also, I found that larger photo of the face, and though I'm assuming no one needs it now, it's still going to haunt my dreams forever now.

Human faces do not belong on robot bodies.

I still have no clue why they didnt use Cyclonus. It seems like a seriously missed opportunity. Unless Hasbro tells them what figures they can use each year, this was a total flub.

Because every single Pretender homage ever has been to the shell, not to the bot inside. Every single one. And they just did the Cyclonus mold 2 years ago for Shattered Glass and they generally don't double dip on molds like that.

Still, I like it and can't wait to put it with my Classics Minerva (C Override).

I'm actually much more interested in getting Scoop now than I am in wanting that Metalhawk figure. He'd probably end up costing less than Metalhawk too. Can't go wrong with double targetmasters! :CON:

I am with you. Human faces on robots wierds me out. It feels like it should belong to a different line of toys altogether.

Yep, both forearms are swapped! At least this piece comes mis-assembled with both a left and right forearm, just on the wrong side.

I imagine there being a bunch of poor Metalhawks with 2 left/right forearms already sealed in the boxset.

Then Hasbro goes all like "We said the boxset comes with 6 figures, we never said the figures would come with a left and right forearm. Furthermore, this does not harm the toy." *cough*SG Drift's gun*cough*
