ACME is both a blessing and a curse.

You can find awesome deals there on occasion. They get collections brought to them on a regular basis.

Their stuff isn't always in the best shape though and the prices can be unreasonable if you don't watch out.

The staff is really cool too, but the owner/manager/whatever offers what are essentially insulting offers for trade and sale. Everytime I dealt with him (and those times were very few), I felt like he was treating me like I have no idea what things are worth and what's worse, he took the attitude that he was being generous with his offers.

I would not do business with ACME comics ever. They are the local "toy scalpers". They zip into anyplace they can, buy everything up, and then put them on their shelves for outrageous prices. You will find that if a business puts something on clearance, the stock would disappear overnight and suddenly ACME will have all new stock at double the retail price. I've had friends who had worked at the place who told me of this practice.
On the other hand, 50Million Toys and Farpoint are both cool places that have prices that actually compete with retail (It think both are in Casselberry). Both carry second hand toys, so you can pick up loose figures for very cheap, and they carry some brand new stuff as well. I usually get my figs at Farpoint. The guys there are pretty enthusiastic about their stuff. They are geeks, which is the kind of comics/toystore owner I like to deal with.

BTW, if anyone is looking for Bumblebee 08 or Dreadwing, there were ONE each left in the DeLand WalMart when I bought my BB 08 & Arcee last night.

Unite!
I might have a bit more luck, as I live in the Orlando area, so we got our K-Marts, TRU, Targets, Wal-Marts, Kb Toys, and other outlets:
TIP: Go to your local Bells Outlet or Big Lots around early next year and you'll most likely see a bunch of wave 1 Transformer toys on the cheap. This is a continued pattern (even admitted by the manager) that after a while, they get alot of the leftover action figures, and toy waves. For example, yesterday I saw alot of Deluxe Mirages, and Cybertron toys in the shelves.

I'm in the Sebastian area and if I head down to Vero Beach I can hit 2 Walmarts, a Target, and a KB Outlet. If I go up to Melbourne I can hit one of the worst TRUs ever and another Target. My options are limited. There's a good comic shop in nothern Melbourne but they're kinda limited on their toy selection and if I won't drive up there to get comics anymore I certainly won't go looking for Transformers.

Woo Floridians unite!

Anyone got any leads on the classics line? I still need a few of them (Grimlock, Rodimus, Astrotrain, and the ever elusive Soundwave).

Is ACME the joint near a hospital in Casselberry going toward Oveido? If so, I got G1 Snaptrap there, sans accessories, for $5. Shell with it.

If not, the place I'm thinking of has row after row of toys, floor to ceiling. The X-formers are in the back kinda near the comix. Next time I go to my sis in Oveido, I'll check it out.

Other than that, I hit up Big Lots, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Bealls, and random discount store about once a month.

Also, I go to Flea Markets and yard sales pretty frequently on the weekends. It's hit or miss, but when you score a G1 for cheap, it rox!

However, most of my toys come from eBay. You gotta be smart about it, but I'm a G1'r so there are few alternatives.
