FoC Prime's Gun - Slots?

Weapon: Sniper Rifle

Apologies if this has been discussed, I searched the first 5 pages and saw nothing relevant.

I was looking at FoC Prime's gun and noticed 2 slots that go all the way through it near the barrel. Anyone know what these are for? It looks like the gun should peg somewhere or combine with something using these slots, but I can't figure anything out by looking at the figure. :-?

Weapon: Rocket Launcher

Ultra Magnus' sword's hilt is a just Prime's gun, maybe with a remold for where the peg is.
