FoC Shockwave

This is easily my favorite figure of the first wave.

Has anyone else noticed that if you take the front off his gun the barrels inside actually have sights on them? When you add in the fact the three pronged piece fits into the slot on his back when in robot mode and I think he was actually intended to use it this way.

All of the FoC figures come with guns from the game. :) That triple-barreled gun is Shocky's straight-from-the-game weapon. I wasn't aware there was storage for the laser cannon head though, thanks for the tip! Obviously if you leave the laser cannon part on, it's more accurate to Shockwave's signature gun.

Yea I know the gun is game accurate but I just thought it odd that they would bother to mold detail on the barrels underneath the removable part (as well as not making it one piece which would have been cheaper).

Agreed. On the other hand, there are only three figures in the first wave, and the other two are pretty disappointing. >:oP

I would agree that out of the three he is my favorite, but after getting some cybertron figures in the mail today the plastic and downsizing of the figures now is disappointing. :MAXIMAL:

Isn't Shockwave's gun also a Scrapmaker when you take the barrel off?

Yeah, that's what we were talking about. :P And thanks for bringing up what it's called, I didn't know offhand.

Firstly, I am a really big fan of Shockwave. I've always enjoyed his callousness and precision.

At first, my heart leapt when I saw a few of them on the pegs at my local Target.

Then, I got closer and put it in my hand. Ummm....

VERY disappointed. I put it back and haven't regretted it once. The damn thing is so TINY, and the alt mode is MEH to say the least. $14.99 for the same amount of plastic as some Star Wars and G.I. Joe figures?

No thanks. It's pretty bad when you can't even justify buying what is supposed to be one of your favorite characters.

Always been a fan of Shockwave since G1.

Like the others, I'm not liking the downsizing. But on the bright side, I think he's in scale with deluxe WFC Megatron--in FOC's Megatron Returns stage, when you walk Megatron up to him by the dropship, he's visibly smaller than Megs.

Sucks that my hobby store sells him as a set with OP and Jazz.

I figured this out a couple of days ago, just posted it in the "thing You Transformer can do..." thread, looks a bit like a jetpack when attached.

I think Shockwave's really cool, easily the best TF since Prime Wheeljack. I even figured out a hand-held gun mode and a manned space-cruiser mode! If you look at the bottom of his gun, there's what looks like a tiny seat underneath. There's a way to mount it in vehicle mode that makes it look like a little cockpit. Pretty cool. I can take some pics later if anyone's interested.

Alright, here's the gun mode. It's really simple, basically you just take his vehicle mode, separate the legs, pivot them down and then connect them back together. I also flipped back the wings to give it more of that 'space laser' look, plus it kind of evokes Rodimus Prime's rifle. For the legs/handle you can either leave the side leg panels up like in vehicle mode or down like in bot mode. I find having them down fits better in the hand, but up looks a little better:

(Sorry for the slightly blurry photos and ungroomed nails...)

Next up, manned space-cruiser mode! From vehicle mode, unpeg the arms and straighten them while still keeping them pegged to each other. Flip the main chest piece backwards to lie flat over top of the arms. Separate the legs, remove the cannon, flip it over and peg it back on using the tab on the silver barrel part and the slot on the back of his waist. Peg the legs back together. There you have it!

Here's how to do the rear (again, sorry for blurriness):

The whole thing:

Different, slightly closer angle:

Closeup of what inspired this mode, the 'cockpit', complete with seat!

That's it! Hope you guys like it. :)

Will either the ROTF or DOTM Human Alliance humans fit inthat "cockpit"?

Nope, it's way too small. :( Probably even too small for Diaclone drivers...

I mean, you could probably fit an HA Basic human in there, but his legs would stick out of the front and he'd be pretty tall, like a race car driver trying to fit in a baby seat.

So Dragstrip in other words.

Quite nice fan modes. :D

Shockwave's easily the best of the first wave. Prime's not too bad, but Jazz is horrid. Shockwave is... good, at least.

Thanks! Yeah, agreed on Wave 1. But I like Shockwave a little more, I don't really have any complaints with him.

*SNIP*

Tried that mode myself, it's pretty darn cool even if I can only find one figure who can fit in the seat:
Image
For a sense of scale:
Image
Pokemon Aron, Trash Pack taco guy, Kreon Megatron, Stratosphere's Optimus Prime, and Legends Soundwave. Little Aron is very tiny, and happens to fit in WfC Soundwave's chest!

One thing I like about Cybertronian modes is that it is easy to make new modes that actually look kinda convincing, like this computer monitor thing:
Image
Image
"It is doubtful you will survive Starscream's leadership."
"Shut up and give me one of those black hole grenade things!"

Dude, that's cool! Cybertronian forms really are good for fan modes.

Haha yeah it would be hard to find any figure that would fit in the cockpit, really, other than the tiniest of figures. Maybe some Armada-era Minicons? Or G1 Micromasters?

I've seen some pics where people popped the wings off, do they come off easily or do you have to break something to get those off?

Pretty sure they pop out without damaging the figure, but you have to be careful to avoid damaging the pegs that hold them in.

I would imagine that you could easily unscrew a few screws in order to make popping them out easier.
