You could have always just gone to the forum index and clicked "View new posts". That gives you everything since your last visit.

Yep, and I've done it, but it really sucks, especially when there are long news articles and articles with tons of images. It ends up being only a few articles per page so you have to look through each article all the way down the page, then click the next button or the number and keep going. It's harder doing that than simply looking through threads. At least with threads, it's just a text list of topic names.

hmmm I only get a list of threads when I do that.

Ah, I thought you meant view the news like previous news articles.

Yes, I know how view new posts works, but then I'd have to filter through all of the comments which aren't actual news/info (of which there's generally a TON of course :P).

Yes heaven forbid we get you to join in on other discussions. Image

I do that plenty (and even still do now with the pinned topics) but when I'm looking for news, I'm looking for news, not discussions by other members about news.

It's the same reason the news articles on the main page exist I assume, so that they can advertise and show the latest news, then when I'm done reading that, I can take a look at the comments and join in on the discussion if I wish.

No dude, you were totally serious, I could tell by the tone in your voice and I'm deeply offended by the gross accusations you've made. I have never seen that platypus before and on the night in question I was nowhere near that Baskin Robins :P.

I just wanted to say that this new system has worked very well this weekend for TFcon coverage. It's still a shame that this news won't make it into the main feed, but El Duque and Blurrz have been doing a fine job of keeping the 3rd party forum up-to-date and easy to navigate. The stickied 3rd party news thread is particularly useful. Well done, guys! :APPLAUSE:

I appreciate that. I've worked out a pretty good system of getting everything done in a quick and efficient manner. I'm glad you guys are enjoying it.

I agree, this new way of posting the 3rd party news has definitely proved itself. In my opinion, it was even easier to track than if it were on the front page as each 3rd party news item was posted together so I didn't have to filter through tons of news about other stuff with the 3rd party news peppered in between.

Once the TFCon news started pouring in I only had to browse that thread in a matter of a couple minutes to get completely caught up on all the action, so thanks a lot you guys :D!

In fact, it would be nice if they'd do something similar for the official Has/Tak toy news so we didn't have to sort through stuff about comics, cartoons and whatever other 'official' news comes around.

They do. Choose "Toy News" under the "Category" drop-down filter.

Yep, you can also get the same via the News dropdown menu at the top and choosing Toy News but articles like these which show up among them are not exactly the kind of official 'toy news' I was referring to/looking for:

Those site sponsor ads are always really long too, with tons of text and images so scrolling through them is a pain.

That's robofreak's fault. Image

It should only have been classed under Transtopia, it was his first time filling in for me. I'll take him aside and give him a good beating and make sure he never does it again! Image

I like how the 3rd Party topics are being posted now, and really appreciate 3P in the drop-down menus. I'm enjoying the format, and hope this prevents multiple posts for the same topic/figure.

Great job, guys!

Disappointed to see the forum gone from the drop down menu. I guess it was only a transitionary measure.

I posted it on the 'report a problem' forum, hopefully this is just an oversight on someone's part.

We've removed it, but there's other means to access the forums..

Why would you remove the most-used option in the drop-down menu? It just doesn't make any sense...

Oh, it does. Getting rid of the 3rd party altogether seems to be what the end game is all about.

If they don't want a 3rd party forum on the site, just get rid of it already! Doing stuff like this seems like it was only meant to aggravate the people who use it...

A023, you're being counterproductive here.

All of this is a matter of the ease of access. What was one click turns into two or three. In a matter of less than a minute you can make it one click again by bookmarking or url shortening.

There is no hidden message here, the forum still exists and will still exist. This isnt end of the world material.

Not the end of the world, no... but making things more inconvenient on purpose seems quite passive-aggressive... unless there's a good reason??

What's "counterproductive" is tiptoeing around the subject & not giving a straight-forward answer as to the logic for the change... at least A023 was trying to be honest.

I'm more and more seeing this as a protective measure, which I can understand. I think Hasbro are getting serious on the matter.

I'm unsure as to why you feel there should have been some big announcement. It's JUST a sub-forum of Seibertron.com. It's not a vital piece of the site, it's just a sub-forum.

Should we make an announcement if we make changes to the Video Games or Fantasy Battle forums?

It is an inconvenience, I used that option all the time but I can go on with my life without it. I just added the forum to my home page settings so it loads straight there when I start my browser. I will miss being able to jump right there between forums though.

Should Seibertron.com have quick links to every sub forum on its drop down list? Should each subforum of the creative forum have a quick link? No, of course not, it's the same here.
