Is anyone else on the fence with getting Fort Max? He is missing in my collection, but I am having trouble getting past the amount of space and the cost needed for him.

I am and I'm not.
Personally I'm not too worried about space. I'll figure that out with some maneuvering and perhaps a new shelf for my tin toys (been considering that for a while anyway since my toddler year old niece sometimes comes into my room and tin toys are rather delicate).
I'm more concerned with the cost factor at this point. I've already worked out that I can afford him, and I think the price is pretty fair, but the whole fiscal cliff nonsense going on in the government is making me wonder if I *should* be spending that sort of cash.
At least I have a few months left to contemplate the answer...

I was on the fence about him for about 10 minutes. Then I really thought about it. Being a collector, I would like to have him just because of the size of him. But, I really only collect characters from the US G1 show, and he just doesn't fit in anywhere. Add in the expense and room to display him and he gets a big thumbs down.

He was in the US G1 show, albeit briefly and only at the very end.

Same problem here.
Around the same time Fort Max comes out, Takara FOC Bruticus will come out too. Can only afford 1, and I'm leaning towards Bruticus.
Besides being the largest TF of all time, there's really not much else too it. The more I think of it, it's just like a giant Metroplex.

I'm in the same boat. I want Fort Max, but I also want to get a Ps Vita. I'm leaning towards the vita because I'll have the money by the end of this month.

I've got my Fortress Maximus savings happening, so i put a little away each month and i won't feel it as much when the time comes.

hI,
I recently bought Fortress Maximus before the Christmas holidays for £525 box included 100% complete. Think I got a bit of a bargain was originally going to get the reissue as that is out in April time. Might consider selling him on if I need to could be a valuable asset in the future.
Here he is:
Hope this helps anyone with your decision, he is absolutely massive twice the size of Scorponok and has lots of interesting features for a toy of this type. Would however recommend maybe getting the reissue as he is just too expensive even at the price I got him for. Will have to sell on my Menasor/superion and lots of other Transfoermrs to make room and whill be on EBay in February time.

Yeah me, too? I think that's the best strategy for such a big Reissue like Fortress Maximus.

well I bought him cause I felt he was cheaper than usual, not sure what you all think. I hadn't actually thought about the reissue one.
Trouble know that I have him a part of me doesn't like it. Not because of the price he just makes my scorponok look so small/crappy by comparison. He is tooo BIG!!! Scorponok is the best transformer ever to me. I remember when I got him when I was five years old.

I feel he was worth the price but I had "buyers remorse" a little and couldn't really "look" at him when he arrived as I had to go to my nans funeral and my cousins children were there so thats likely what the problem was.
Today I'm very glad I got him but still feel a bit iffy about it. He is and always will be my most expensive figure so he is going on display and I am going to use him a bit to justify the price.
Also I very nearly didn't get him in that the seller claimed one postage company was going to charge him £300P&P which is a laugh to be fair.
Don't mind too much buying expensive toys but want to make sure I balance out my account/spending habits next year so yes sadly 4 of my boxed TFs will go probably:
Menasor Giftset
Superion Giftset
All TFS I bought this year except Thundercracker (only need skywarp!)

I'm in the same boat with space. Couple of years ago when space wasn't an issue he was my top priority but just couldn't afford it back then. Now that the reissue is happening and much, much cheaper, the lack of space does concern me. However, I did preorder one from BBTS cause with his large size, you never know how the price will skyrocket if you decide to get it down the road.

I am feeling the same thing. It's like - buy it now while you have the chance or forever bite your tongue when the price skyrockets up to $1000.

Just to add my two pennies. I grabbed Brave Max about 5 years ago for £300 off ebay. While it was nice to have him in my collection i could never find a way to make him look right so i have since sold him. Id say it all depends on the type of collection you have, and he didnt fit into my warzone display

The pieces themselves are £80-£100 anyway so did i get a good deal or not it was £525. I do like him and very impressed with the overal design. Yes he is blocky and no moving legs etc, the parts that don't work for me are the headmaster spike head for Cerebros. I'm sorry to all the fans it looks stupid they should have had the Cerebros head from the cartoon/comic version it looks tacky.
It is slightly discolored in some parts but the box/styrene are present ut it does feel like too much money maybe. With the reissue coming would I have been better off getting him instead it made me think.
