GDO or Universe Springer

I am a huge fan of Springer, but the GDO Springer is very hard to find, at least around me. I was wondering, is it a figure worth pursuing and trying to find or buying online for my classics/wreckers collection, or should I stick with the Universe Blades repaint that we got several years ago? I cannot seem to find any comparison pictures of the two together either.

Comparing the two, GDO is a much better representation of the character an well worth the extra dough.

If you're bleeding money, you can try to hunt down FanProject's defender, which is actually a Triplechanger, but it is more expensive.

Can't a GDO Springer be moded into a triplechanger if ChrisRiss can track one down? I basically have a sieve where most people have a memory so I could be wrong

If he can be moded for a decent price he might be worth tracking down :-?

How could it be moded? I've actually never modded a figure before either.

BotCon 2007 Springer

But seriously, I'd say GDO. Springer seems better suited for a deluxe, and scales better with Classics Rodimus and Generations Kup that way.

This. It's a nice, and possibly easy, mod. Finding the right wheels might be a problem though...

Finding those wheels and finding those feet. That is a really nice mod. Those feet are the one problem that I have with the GDO one, but I've even seen that the landing gear can be used as feet. It's not as nice as that mod, but its better than the movieverse feet.

GDO is the least underwhelming of the official choices, plus there is FansProject Defender, but to be honest that is not a great choice either and is really showing its age. If I had to have one, it would still be Defender (by a slim margin) then GDO, then Universe (Botcon in last place)

That mod doesn't look that difficult, and 2007 Movie Wreckage (and it's repaint Bludgeon) is REALLY easy to find cheap.

My personal choice would be Botcon Springer, as I just love the C D HotShot mold, however, there is another mold...

Superlink ..... SPRANG. I'm serious his name was Sprang. Hasbro called Bulkhead for the Energon line, but he is clearly meant to be Springer. He comes with a battle droid that holds all the electronics. He's pretty cool if you ask me.

He's in the galleries here.

I agree with you 100% about Defender, he is a nice toy, but not great. And his knees are a big issue. GDO Springer was an easy pass for me, but seeing that mod makes me want him now :D

So it might be easy to get all the pieces, I will have to look into it then. GDO might be a good option, and cheaper than Defender. Will have to wait though, had a bit of an impulse buy last night #-o

I have to agree on GDO Deluxe Springer, Universe's rescue copter does not really suit him to me. How much is BotCon Springer going for these days anyway?

GDO, but if you can afford it, FP's Defender. Blows the official product out of the water. :michaelbay:

Kinda, sorta, but not really. The knees let it down, quite literally. When they go, and they will, he can't stand up unsupported :-(

GDO springer for sure. defender is nice but i just cant justify that mucho money on a figure who will not be able to stand up properly.

another consideration should be which alt mode you favour - for me it is the Helicopter, and an attack heli at that which automatically rules out Botcon and Universe. Bo the GDO and FansProject Springer have their strengths but for catoon accuracy and the 3 modes I would plump for FansProject. I have GDO but have not opened it, because I think the head sits quite oddly on that body. The mould suits Spinister down to the ground though.

Eh, I'm using the Universe one. FP is too expensive, and the GDO, while sized better, and with a better headsculpt, just doesn't do it for me.

This might be what it's asking for but I've been following this and have seen a few auctions sold for $50ish (though I still didn't pull the trigger)If you look at completed listings loose ones sold for $30ish..
