Well, it's out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt8lo3jEKBo

(I thought we could insert youtube videos again? Must be doing it wrong.)

Overall, I'm intrigued. Like the first film, I really do believe a man can become a flaming skeleton. Ghost Rider himself looks awesome. However, his enemies were very, very bland in the first film, and Blackheart looked NOTHING like he did in the comics.

Sadly, the trailer doesn't appear to give us any look at Blackout, and Ghost Rider is fighting either punks or drug runners. Big let down. I haven't read too many comics, but when you have a hero who's mainly popular because he looks awesome you'd better have him fighting something equally cool.

However....he pukes fire now. Ok, fair enough, maybe he was shooting the bullets back. But peeing an inferno? Really? Really? Come on Marvel, I thought you were above that.....

I liked the first movie, even though it was a little corny. I'll check this one out eventually, probably on DVD since I hate going to the theater.

Peeing fire is pretty dumb though.

The directors say it's a reboot and has nothing to do with the first film.
Peeing fire? Puking out burning bullets? That sounds like something the comic version would do. At least the 2006 series.
And I love this trailer since it looks Awesome and in the spirit of the comics.

Well, if it's a re-boot in the proper spirit of the comics, than I hope we get a proper looking Blackheart! Still, I loved the first movie, and Was hoping for this to be a sequel. I guess that explains why he can go out in daylight now too.....

I loved the first film!I think they are trying to make this film more independent from the first one.

The puking fire is in character. Breathing fire, technically but in one of the comic miniseries he would breathe flaming chains. Wicked. The peeing fire.... um.... The critic in me wants to mock the pointlessness of it but the guy in me is laughing too hard to let the critic speak. >:oP

Interesting take on the design. The previous version wasn't charred, just well-lit whereas the one in the trailer is a waling cinder. Would be fine either way as long as it's consistently done.

The burning chains was in Road to damnation.
Actually, looking at it again, its not fire he's spitting, he's spitting out the bullets, which happen to be on fire due to them being in a burning skeleton.

Anybody know the title of the song, or well music used in the trailer?

I think the pissing fire thing was only done for the trailer. Sometimes movies do that. I recall the first Spiderman teaser that had him webbing the bank robbers helicopter between the World Trade Center towers.

I'm excited for this. Optimistic that it will improve upon the first.

No that World Trade Center scene was intended to be in the full movie, as a respect to 9/11, which happened just after the trailer aired they cut it out. It was all over the news at the time.

Have you guys seen the second trailer yet?

Second trailer makes it look out to be a dark action movie. And ya know what, I'm sure that's what it'll be, and I'll probably like it for what it is.

The first film may not have been great, but it captured the look of Ghost Rider perfectly, and for whatever reason I enjoy it for the visuals, and sadly I think that's why Ghost Rider even has popularity. It's just cool to see a flaming skeleton riding a motercycle.

Big old pass for me. If it's a reboot then why didn't they recast the lead? There was an awful lot wrong with the first movie, so I don't blame Cage entirely, but he was definately part of what was off. I've pretty much only ever enjoyed the guy's work in Leaving Las Vegas and Kick Ass and he was totally lampooning himself if the latter. Can't say I'm the biggest Ghost Rider fan to begin with in any instance, more of a DC man myself.

It's not a reboot, hence why no recast. I've heard the phrase, 'soft restart' cause they are going to retell the origin but tweak it to fit this story. Well in that case Spiderman 3 was a "soft restart", I think they are just trying to let people know this movie is not going to tonally be like the first. Which was that Cage's portrayal of Johnny Blaze as a jelly bean eating self-absorbed, cartoon watching biker celebrity is not in play for SOV.

I saw the film. If your curious read at your own discretion.
This post will contain SPOILERS!!

SPOILERS--SPOILERS--SPOILERS--SPOILERS--SPOILERS

My grade: B
So what are some things in this film one might like, I'll share mine:
  • I liked how they explained why the devil looks different. Ciran Hands vs Peter Fonda.
  • I liked the nods to acknowledging his stunt rider days and I don't mean the storyboards. The bonding moments with Danny on the highway doing bike stunts.
  • Incorporating the Zarathos element inherent with the comic version. And that explanation sequence between Blaze and Moreau was nicely done.
  • The use of Negative Space and filming in a Negative manner worked well in several scenes. Such as the purging of the Rider scene and "Decay vision".
  • Glad the "pissing scene" was only an in-joke visual for Johnny and Danny and not an actual moment in the film.
  • Tying into the first film again, how the Rider fears and/or is powerless in the light AND how events in the film change that.
  • How we see the Rider as a hero, controlled by Blaze in that final sequence. Not just a force of nature.

So, in fairness what could've been better, my thoughts on that:
  • I know they spent less money but I missed the full on Penance Stare. It's done but without the f/x, more implied then *poof* dead bad guy.
  • The transitions between major set pieces could've been more fluid. A few too many Hard Cuts.
  • Nadya, Danny's mom, is suddenly a good shot with a military grade sniper rifle from 500yrds? Some 30 second bs explanation earlier in the film might've sold this better. The best backstory we get is she a bit of a gypsy.
  • Personally I would've liked more dialogue from the Rider. Like the Hulk films I feel they've missed this twice now. Neither character is that silent in their own book.

The few location cinematography shots we got were great. Liked seeing the Monks chiseled out monastic hideout.
The castle was very nice.
The amphitheater ruins for the ritual were cool.
Nice cameos by Anthony Stewart Head(Giles of BtVS) and Christopher Lambert.
Idris Elba did a very servicable job as well. Not Heimdell awesome but still a respectable performance. Cage was a much, much better Johnny Blaze this time imo.
Some nice humor although I can see where for some a few moments might be over the top(Jerry Springer's 1/2 second cameo perhaps).
The twinkie scene got several laughs at my viewing.

It's a fun movie, cut loose and enjoy the film. Oscar bait it's not but in all objectiveness there are worse films, worse comic films out there than this. Don't allow yourself to get caught up in the seemingly current "Hip to bash Cage and/or Ghost Rider" bandwagon this month. You'll miss a fun time at the theater and be forced to sit through The Vow.

**SPOILERS**

I saw it too. I was disappointed. I won't go into much detail, but the main things that bothered me were that the camera was too damn shaky at times, it was WAY TOO LOUD, and there wasn't nearly enough action. The ending chase scene was great, there should have been more like that throughout the film. The story overall wasn't smooth. Directors' fault.

I thought Ciaran Hinds was good as the Devil, probably better than Peter Fonda, only because he had more screen time. And he looked the part more. In my theater, I was the only one who chuckled at the Twinkie scene. Maybe nobody else got it. I did enjoy Jerry Springer as well. It is actually a somewhat fitting explanation. I didn't read ANY info on the film beforehand, so it was a total pleasant surprise to see Christopher Lambert. Even if he was a dick.

Overall, I give it 2/5. Disappoint.

Alot of love, but also, alot of dissapoint.
I Liked alot of it, and the Twinkie part made me laugh my ass off!
Alot of was outstanding, but alot of it seemed REALLY rushed, and in the end, I was confused in the "WTF Just happened?" Kinda way. Like when the kid was suddenly able to know how to use all the devil's powers. Alot of the BS Stuff was mentioned above. Another WTF moment was the part were they hit him with the flashbang. I Laughed, but it didn't make sense. It almost seemed like they wanted the rider to seem less a warrior of vengeance, and more a mischievous impish trouble-maker with demonic powers. I wish more effects (like the stare and the vehicle full-body mutation) would have been used. Still. It was fun to be in a "Crazy Cage Flick" again. Making him act like he did in face off just. worked.

This was more like a "Weird Cage Flick." I just watched my Blu-Ray of Drive Angry again, and THAT is a fun Nic Cage movie! Plus, Amber Heard! =P~
