GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!

So I just got the first two of the 5 packs from BBTS. I have to say the presentation is fabulous! The box is gorgeous and should pop out on the shelves. Each figure is packaged in an action pose, and there is a nice GI JOE insignia in the middle that plays the beginning of the classic Joe cartoon theme.

Besides the cool shape of the box, it can flip open so you can look inside without having to disturb the figures (I couldn't do that, I was too excited!!!). The back also features some really cartoon, and toy box art, and a few of the old joe toys themselves.

The figures are very well articulated (HOLY $#!^ are they), and they have great proportions, and super-super detailed bodies.

A couple of negatives...some big some small. Where's my shiny solid plastic? This soft plastic looks okay, but it is not helpful, and leads to my second issue...they CANNOT hold their weapons well at all. The hands are too soft, and the weapon handles are too small.

Another negative...with all the joints and articulation they tend to be a bit loose in parts. My Gung Ho was particularly leg loose, which is frustrating.

However, these are beautiful figures that well represent the characters from the show, and include lots of details and weaponry that is applicable to each (Roadblock-30mm with stand, bullet belts, backpack and removable helmet, Duke--helmet and binoculars...etc., etc.).

Anybody else got these, or at least interested in joe stuff and want to have conversations? If no, I'll head on over to the Joe Collector's Club forums, I just figured there might be some cross over here too, not just in the comics!! :-?

Congrats! Tigertracks..

Im looking forward for these new figs. Last time I had Joes was back in the 80's as a kid. These new figs are bringing back some good memories. :)

I cant wait to get these in my hands. These look awesome and have read good reviews.

Are these a online only kind of thing. Or are they actually going to show up in stores?

They'll be brick and mortar soon enough. There are sitings at Walmart already, I believe.

I included the above link, because, well, he is very honest and forthright in his review (he has reviewed all the joes, just not the corbras yet). I'm kind of star struck still...

I'm not good with my camera, but maybe I can snap a few...

The detail is awesome for the most part, the articulation ends up being a hindrance in most cases if you read the reviews posted by 'Fred' above.

I'm pretty excited about the new Joe line, though my wallet isn't. I'm a bit disappointed to read something I've feared from looking at the pictures of these figures some months ago: that the hips are extremely limited. Guess I'll be joining the ranks of altering my figures with an X-Acto or Dremel so they can actually sit down. I will never understand the malfunction of toy companies that give figures the "V-crotch" when a T-crotch works so much better.

I just hope Hasbro hears enough complaints and corrects those problem areas.

I definitely want to get some of these.
Wish I still had the headquarters and Thunder Clap.
So many Joes and Cobra troops, lost to the battlefield :(

Cobra Commander + Baroness = Win.

I wish they would show reruns on Tv.

:BOT: If I had the space and money, I'd love to own these.

But for now, I'll settle on the GI Joe comics. If you haven't read America's Elite #25 this week, you're in for a treat. It's the start of World War III! :CON:

I did, it's good. Love the cover (my desktop right now!). Looking forward to the Joes being more than responders, but actually actively searching for and arresting known operatives...should be cool!

I don't know. The extra articulation just doesn't matter to me considering that the original figures had really good articulation already. Besides a lot of the comic pack figures released over the last couple years did a better job at revisiting the characters than some of these.

Though I kind of like Destro, the new Cobra Commander doesn't look at all good.

They did. It was short-lived.

That must be why I don't remember it being in reruns.

It's a shame what kids missed in those days. IMO, cartoons were WAY better back then.

I can't wait to find these. I've heard bad reviews about them at various Joe sites, but that hasn't dampered my enthusiasm.

BBTS has some of the Wave 1 single carded figures in stock...

Namely Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow... (FLint, Hooded Cobra Commander, and Cobra Officer are not available). However, I do have them all in my 'pile of loot'.

Over at JoeCanuck.com, I'm known as SnakeEyesOnAPlane.

You can tell I can't wait to get my hands on these figures. Just wish they weren't so bloody expensive.

Oh man I can't wait to find these. I know that there has been limited finds on these in stores but when is there going to be a mass release - when is the official date? I have checked every store in town for the last month and can't find anything but Sigma 6.

I here they are releasing a Cobra Stinger driver later - this makes me very excited.

If you are on the East Coast Toys "R" Us is the best place to look.

:BOT: On a related note... I bought GI Joe #21, the silent issue!

While picking up my comics, the comic shop had several boxes of old comics. One of the customers traded in his collection for store credit. As soon as I saw some GI Joe comics, I dug right in. And just like finding the Golden Ticket, I nearly crapped my pants finding part of the greenish black cover. It was in pretty good condition too! The clerk knew what he was doing, he checked Overstreet for the price so I paid $25 for it. Still worth it though!

I've read a reprint before... but I've always wanted the real deal.

Of course, the crappy thing was that as soon as I came home, I saw some cheaper prices on eBay. Oh well.... live & learn. :CON:

Aah, but you did it the old fashioned way, you found it in the back issue bins at brick and mortar stores (or a con), and that is how we used to have to do it before this 'dag-busted Ebay thing'.

Still a nice find and a great issue, although it doesn't take long to read! :P
