Why, thank you! Oh, you meant the Dino-bot. I quite agree! There almost needs to be a new Grimlock to scale well with these. Yikes!
And all I can really think is

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

Your living in the past. The older Classics Generations scale is now not nonexistant. Titan Metroplex & the Two 30th leader sized Generations toys have forever increased & changed the scale.

Rated X wrote:Just about every MP figure COULD have been classics scale and still be crowned with the title masterpiece. What does "masterpiece" mean anyways ? Does it mean big ? Does it mean highly detailed ? Or does it mean both ? I think igear was on to something when they downsized MP prime to scale with classics figures. If they had done the same with the seekers and megatron, things might be different today. A figure doesnt need to be huge to be a "masterpiece". It just needs to be awesome.

Rated X wrote:The whole idea that something must be big to be crowned the term "masterpiece" is pure opinion. Big figures are cool for a kid to play with, but kind of unrealistic to build a cartoon accurate cast of characters. So exactly how big would an MP Omega Supreme be in comparison to MP-10 ? How about an MP Metroplex ? Its getting to the point where bigger is getting stupid. If the smallest characters keep getting bigger, then where does that leave the biggest characters in terms of scale ?

Are you serious? The bigger scale TF toys use thicker plastic than the smaller scale TF toys. so by default the plastic used is stronger.

megatronus wrote: I disagree. Generations figures (as that is truly what the line/style has become, what with Beast Wars, Unicron Trilogy, IDW, etc. designs & characters making their way into the mix) are modern updates to classic characters. Call it neo, or whatever you like. The Masterpiece figures aren't homages - they are meant to be the definitive versions of those original characters.
It's not about what's "big," it's about what HasTak decided would be the official scale for the Masterpiece line. To get the level of detail and accuracy they wanted, and apparently in conjunction with MP-09, they decided that MP-10 would be about 9-inches tall, and that the scale for the rest of the characters would revolve around that base size. Does that preclude the possibility of an MP-sized Omega Supreme or Metroplex? Probably. But from what I understand, the intention of the relaunch was to make the assemblage of the '84 Ark crew a real possibility, and this scale in no way hinders that.
On your riff about shrinking down figures: sure, iGear could reduce a 12-inch MP-01 to an 8-inch Faith Leader, but that toy suffered from thin plastic, and they assembled it quite crappily. Sure, it served, but I don't think you can argue it was an amazing feat. They sure as hell couldn't do it for Megatron. I highly doubt that iGear would be able to shrink 9-inch MP-10 down to a 6-inch version, with all its gimmicks and complexity.

Bear in mind, int he cartoon Grimlock is over a head taller than Prime, so MP Grimlock is not really cartoon accurate. FT Slag is nearly accurate to Grimlock (although slightly too large; it comes with parts to prop Grimmy up).
Gauntlet101010 wrote:I dunno why this thread is about scale all of a sudden. Actually, this MP is meant to have cartoon scale with MP-10 and it seems to do the job nicely. Although MPs are too big for me (I just don't have the space), among other concerns.
I kinda prefer Classics as well, but that is neither here nor there for this thread. Collecting MPs is as valid as collecting classics. There's no need to divide the fandom into "sides."

No, that means you're simply using more plastic.Tsutsukakushi wrote:Rated X wrote:Granted a larger size means more room to work with when adding details, but I believe igear faith leader proved MP molds CAN be made in a smaller scale.
