That was the only good thing about that poopy movie.

I love Godzilla, the original is one of the best movies ever made and the last is quite possibly the most awesome movie ever.

I liked the older 80's cartoon better. The monsters were really cool.

I was never a big fan of the original Japanese movies but I can see why they've garnered such a large cult following. My favorite is Mothra vs Godzilla. There's something about a giant moth that just appealed to me.

While Mothra is pretty cool, those Mothra twins really get to me. That awfull high-pitched MMMOOOOOOOOTTTTUUUUUUHHHLLAAAAAAAAA. It's the stuff of nightmares. Nicely gets compensated by the mothralarva, hilariously fighting turds.

Yup, very awesome. Those lyrics where the coolest. I had a Calico bathtub toy or at least I think it was supposed to be the Calico when I was around 7 or 8. Lots fun to take a bath with a huge ass ship floating around you.

The rubber suits can only go so far, sound effect are the real stamp of a good horror movie. Which of course th Original Mothra movie wasn't really.

I too once disliked Mothra's theme song, but once you hear it in enough movies(particularly the kiddier but still enjoyable "Rebirth of Mothra" Trilogy) you kind of develop a stockholme syndrome type deal and enjoy the song. Heck, thanks to having the "Best of Godzilla 1954-1975" on my Ipod, I kind of even enjoy King Ceasar's song.

Anyway, for the topic at hand, Godzilla rules!!!! I love every film in the series for one thing or another, and taken for what it is even Godzilla's Revenge is a good example of how TO USE stock footage.

I am only a fan of the Godzilla movies from 1954 to 1975.
Because I loved the cheezy back grounds & props. the women were entertaining as they viewed the gigantic monsters as religious gods That they worshipped.

I don't care for any of the newer Godzilla movies that were made 10 to 20 years ago.

I hated that Godzilla cartoon with that godzooky creature.

Godzooky? A Godzilla-Snooky hybrid?

Anyways, the 80's series is absolute win. I love Biollante and Destroya, just epic designs. Plus any movie featuring Ghidra is a good one.

I've been getting into Godzilla comics.

I recently read Essential Godzilla written by Doug Moench and art by Herb Trimpe. This black & white trade collects Marvel’s late 70’s Godzilla comics. It’s the craziest book I’ve read in a long time. It’s fun to see Godzilla interact with Marvel super heroes like the Fantastic Four and The Avengers. At one point, Godzilla shrinks down and hides among people by wearing a hat and trenchcoat like a Ninja Turtle.

It's crazy stuff.

Dum Dum Dugan and SHIELD are assigned to capture Godzilla. It’s weird seeing Dum Dum acting like a jerk. All Godzilla wants to do is smash stuff. It also stars Agents of Atlas’ Jimmy Woo.

Image

The new IDW Godzilla series is pretty fantastic. It's co-written by Eric Powell, who makes The Goon comics (so you know it's a dark humor book) and this story is drawn by one of my favorites Phil Hester. It's fun and pure mayhem. It's pretty much Godzilla destroying stuff for 22 pages an issue.

I used to read and collect the Dark Horse Godzilla series, pretty good series. Sadly they only had the rights to Godzilla, and the names to G-Force and Mechagodzilla, so the whole series was full of original monsters and stuff.
The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that it was set in the US and that the few Japanese main characters turned into white Americans as the series progressed oh and the different artists from issue to issue.
I won't start reading the new idw series though, the series will likely be just a couple of miniseries with little to no continuity between them, and if they do idw will reboot it and piss me off after a while anyway. Too many bad experiences with that company.

When i was a kid i was absolutely bonkers for Godzilla. Of course he's still rad and i'm always chekin out whats happening with him now and again. Just got my GF a big ass Gzilla figure the other day for her apartment actually. SHe's stoked on it to my surprise. I was hoping she'd hate it and i'd have it.

Back in the early 80's i'd run home from school for lunch as fast as i could to catch an old black and white half hour show of Godzilla. I cant remember the full name of it but i'm pretty sure it was called "Godzilla King of the Monsters" or just "Godzilla". It had an awesome theme song that i'd dance too all over the house when it came on.

A punishment for me as a kid that my parents would use against me was to not allow me to watch it or threaten to not let me watch it if i didn't do what i was told. I was OBSESSED with Godzilla.

I'm more of a fan of the vintage Godzilla though and all the campy awesomeness.
