Homeworld 1999 game of the year from game informer and best RTS of the year from gamespot.

not sure if those are the right people it got the awards from but it definately got them from one of those big game mags

Metal Gear Solid 2.

Tomb Raider 1, it has everything. The PS1 version was the best, but now hard to find.

Also Far Cry and now that I have played the first 2 missions of the new game Overlord, I am sure this will be right up there with the best too. You should try that game folks, you wont be disappointed.

Megaman 2, with the original Doom close behind it.

Throwing out my opinion here, I'll personally go with Shenmue. It's the best darn game I've ever played at least.
