Flux Convoy wrote:I'm a little surprised with how little we actually saw. How have we not seen Victorion completely? We've seen the two awful art panels but why no figures? No info about reissues, the coneheads(which are online at Target) no Trypticon (which looks to be dropping any second now). No tease for Computron or anything further like the creature combiners. No deluxe figure info beyond two waves of Autobot repaints. No Gnaw? Still? Pipes is a blue Optimus Prime? C'mon with that. Pipes deserves an IDW design. I was incredibly underwhelmed by Hasbro's showing this year. To end on a positive. I think Bruticus and Sky Lynx are pretty great. I just wish we had seen more than them.
:BOT:

TO be fair, there were 3 deluxe waves revealed in total. Also, Hasbro has to split it's reveals between this and SDCC. I feel they did fine for combiner wars but their lack of love for their other line RID, was really odd.

Also I doubt we'll see more titan class figures revealed as Devestator will be arriving soon and he'll be around for a while, shops aren't going to have the space or going to want a selection of titan class clogging their shelves. So any new titan class (we're talking one release) will be revealed next year ready for sale then when (hopefully) all the devys have been sold.

While, in all seriousness, I would like one, I understand why one might not be happening for a while. The engineering on most of the rest of the cast would be nigh on impossible to create as well as Rhinox and Rattrap (I'm thinking specifically of blackarachnia, terrorsaur, dinobot - robots with lots going on design-wise and not much space in beast mode)

Don't get me wrong - I NEED this series in my life - but just thinking of how to cram all of terrosuars bot mode into the beast mode satisfactorily (if the bar is to be set at Rhinox, Rattrap, and Waspinator for beast mode quality and bot mode accuracy and scale) is making my :HEADHURTS:

I think they were really onto something with that Universe Dinobot. The bot mode is spot on and it could be upscaled to voyager class for scale. The main problem was the robot kibble on the beast mode's chest (as is always the case with BW Dinobot). But I feel they could inspire themselves off that design as a starting point and do a better job. Cheetor could be based off his original toy but made sleeker (just like Waspinator seems based on it's original toy) and tarantulus as well. Blackarachnia and Terrorsaur are the tougher ones because their robot modes are so sleek. I doubt a perfect terrorsaur will ever exist, no way those wings can end up that small in bot mode.

Well, if we're going by show models, blackarachnia could pull an arcee with the bot abdomen forming parts of the beast head, then cram the rest of her body into the spiders abdomen, which is bulbous enough to hold the legs and head, then have the arms swing under for the beast legs and fangs, it wouldn't be super pretty but it would work.

As for terrorsaur, they could have the bot legs form the length of the body (they would fold into the bot chest and run the length of the body filling it out like tm airazor) and have the beast mode comprised of shells that could fold around to do what would be needed. then have part of the beast feet attached to the bot arms (still have no idea where to put them) and the wings would have to fold down as best as possible (we would just have to live with it)

Scorponok could be re-engineered/updated off of the original toy (just need better/bigger beast legs), optimus and megatron just need a slight overhaul (diff. beast head for o/p and a left hand for megs), cheetor could combine designs from the original and the classics, everyone else would need re-engineering to varying degrees. :-?

Which could just mean Primal will rule all with his badassery... apparently MP BW Megatron has been leaked (no pictures), but until there's a list, I'm not expecting 12+ new MP figures in 1 year

Generations Rhinox, Waspinator and Rattrap will do me for those characters. I want to see what they can do for characters who's toys didn't match their show models or their update didn't really cut it. Like Cheetor for example.

Or an upscaled Universe 2008 Dinobot with the correct colors. Believe it or not, I don't mind the Universe 2008 rendition of Cheetor as much as many others do. I appreciate the sleeker build compared to his VERY chunky original toy. It's not perfect, but it does well enough for me right now that I'm not itching for a redo before we get some more of the core characters done in "Classics" style.

I think they both did some things right, and if the gimmicks were removed and the emphasis re-focused on show accuracy, I think they could both be exceptional figures. I think Dinobot would have to be a slim voyager, I just don't think that any toy can capture his likeness in both modes, he was MASSIVE in robot mod and his beast mode was very lean.

Agreed. In my eyes, Primal and Megatron aren't really needed... they're at this point repetitive. Really itching for a Terrorsaur, BW Scorponok, Tarantulas, and Blackarachnia, then Inferno, Airazor, and Tigatron later. Sure Cheetor and Dinobot suck, but since they've already been updated and Beastie slots are limited, I'd rather they focus on more dire characters needing an update

While that may be true, you also have to see it from an engineering perspective, most of whom you listed are exceedingly obnoxious to design, as I mentioned earlier. Some - o/p, megs, and scorponok - could be easy to buff up their original design, scale them to fit their teams, and bam, 3 new figures.

I think the bitter truth with a LOT of the Beast Wars cast is that modern updates are going to have to go back to the 2006 "Classics" mission statement, doing classic characters with modern engineering that call back their familiar traits and looks without stringently adhering to the original style, allowing for artistic license and so forth. Faces and decos can be spot on, while beast modes take a bit of liberty with the original designs, or the robot modes end up with different beast kibble, etc.

Agreed, which I would be open to, though I get the feeling a full line of beast wars is out of the question for a little while since CW is continuing, then we've got titan wars and depending on how long that runs for, we'll probably have movie 5 toyline

It'd likely be the BWII version consisting of Lio Junior, Skywarp, and Santon given Takara's sticking to cartoon-based media for MP inspiration. So we could be looking at a MP child combiner. ;)

I know, right? How DARE they take the wolf out of Silverbolt! No wonder he was such a moody jerk in Beast Machines. Megatron excised the best thing about him!
