I just opened mine today. There is a VERY slight gap, but nothing for me to be concerned about with mine. The hinges on the chest, as well as most of the others, are pretty tight too. The box which holds the Matrix seems to be the issue, I believe. But it's not enough on mine for me to be concerned. The bad thing, though, is my wife made me put him back in the box, since it's supposed to be a Christmas present.

BTW, love your Fett armor. Are you 501st, by any chance? I just acquired a Jodo Kast costume, myself. Gotta take pics in it tommorow to send for approval......

So the chest problem/ bumper scratching is pretty common? I was able to snag one while on vacation in Pensacola and was disappointed by that. Otherwise I dig it but I have to wait to have it shipped up here, didnt trust it on the return flight lol. Ill try and exchange it if my TRU get more stock in.

Im hopeful they will after seeing what happened with MP Thundercracker. My friend in CA said one of the TRU he went in to had at least 10 MP Primes.

I found one in the wild today, canceled the TRU.com order.

Breathed a sigh.

Thanks,

Yea I am 501st, I have had my Fett since 2004, it took me about 8 months to make it and have been making improvements on it since. I have been working on a custom mando, there are a lot of customs out there that don't look so great. So I am working hard to make mine really nice. After that I might make an Epire Fett to go with my ROTJ one. I would like to see pics of your Jodo.

As far as my prime goes. The gap in mine was really bad, the chest would not close all the way and it scratched the heck out of the bumper. I however exchanged it for another at TRU. The second one did not have the issue. The chest closed very nicely with just a slight gap and no damage to the bumper.

Could I see pics of what your replacement looks like? Im trying to decide if I should exchange mine when I get a chance. My bumper has a chip on the top left now and 2 obvious dimple scratches, from the window screws most likely. :/

Well, I got the last one at the ONLY TRU near me on Layaway now. Here's hoping when I go back in next week to actually GET it, that it'll be okay...

After combing this thread I counted only 4 fans (unless I'm wrong) that found this to be an "awesome" figure and that it's all better when in hand. The others that got theirs are pissed at the amount of QC issues involved with such a costly figure...I couldn't blame them one bit. While the majority of us (like me) are still hunting or waiting for their pre-order.

I hope I'm not mistaken but I really don't wanna go back to find the actual post. Someone posted that to get a figure with the highest (or near highest) of QC that we would find acceptable, it would cost us $300+ for such a figure. It sounds like whether we pay $100-$120 (store price) we get what we pay for then... :???:

Well with all the bad this figure holds I'm glad that my wanting him is for mere display sealed along with my sealed Hasbro Grimlock and Hotrod. The only MP I have opened and enjoyed with hardly no issues is (except the short exhaust pipes) the Hasbro 20th anniversary edition. With all the MP TC flowing in I hope that will happen too with OP.

So I say keep up the good hunt...'til all have one. Now I'm off to handle my heavy-metal MP Prime, I haven't done so in a long-ass time. I may do a look over to see if there were any flaws I may have missed. :P :VEHI:

Make that 5. I purchased a sealed case, opened one, kept the other sealed on display. I have had no issues with mine, and have actually been playing with him. I'm talking transforming, posing, making pew pew noises as I point his blaster. That's a rare thing for me to do these days with my Transformers as most of them end up on shelves.

I absolutely like the toy and think its awesome. Optimus is my favorite character and this MP represents what toys should be if you ask me, for kids and collectors alike. Its a hefty toy thats durable, posable and looks great especially compared to the original cartoon. It reminds me of the toys I used to buy as a kid, except its more articulated. You always remember toys being bigger as kid then you see them again as an adult and theyre usually smaller than you remember because youve grown.

It reminds me of the dilemma of "vintage" toys. For instance, I just got my daughter into Beast Wars and we are watching it together. We are a few episodes into season 2 and she loves it. I want to get the show figures for her because she likes them, a lot lol. However as "vintage" toys I cant pay the prices they command and then turn around and let her play with them after I paid that much. I let her play with all my childhood toys because the original purchase has already been made. So I let her play with my original Megazord and some cringe at that but it makes me feel good to see my old toy bring joy to a kid. Sheesh it still brings joy to me lol.

Now let me transition back to MP10. The QC issues bother me simply because its a $100 dollar toy. I feel this is a toy you could and should let a kid play with. I only paid $80 with the coupon code that was floating around. So Im happy about that but even at that price the chest issue I have is not acceptable for me. This is the first MP toy Ive ever bought. As a longtime Gears of War collector Ive come to expect a certain quality from my toys. NECA makes the Gears toys and occasional paint apps may be messed up and a few figures are not as articulated/ posable as Id like but their toys look fantastic, are solid, affordable and have never given me any trouble. Thats what I was expecting when buying MP10. Different class and type of toy for sure but I was expecting the best quality I could find. Even though I let my daughter play with almost all of my toys this is one figure I thought would stand out and I would have to wait to let her play with. The QC issues, or just the issues I have with it lol, make me feel like its a toy a kid should play with and that it should be cheaper.

I hope the Primes that were returned with QC issues get fixed, repackaged and make it to stores again. A waste of plastic to just be thrown in a scrap heap & melted down. Total waste. This may work with TVs and game consoles, but idk how with toys. Hope for the best

I finally got a chance to open mine and glad to say it doesnt have any issues. Really like the colors and scale of it with the masterpiece figures compared to MP4 who I think is too big.

Transformation is on the easy side and its quite sturdy. Love the blue on roller too.

Hope all you guys can get one. I have a feeling once the holidays are closer, there is going to be more than enough to go around. Hasbro and TRU would be stupid not too have more available.

Yeah, slight defect or not, I'll be happy to have one at some point. It's a shame so many are having QC issues, and it's just as bug of a shame that so many are being returned, causing even less to be available for everyone who hasn't gotten him yet.

Sucks that most specimens are having trouble. Honestly, if all there was was a little itty bitty scratch, or the windows won't stay flush to the torso (like my MP-01), I'd be fine with it.

My heart leaped out of my chest when I saw 5 MP Optimus Primes at my TRU in Westbury, N.Y. today. It immediately sunk when I saw the price tag: $138.99. ****. I must live near the most expensive Toys R Us in the country.

I tried to show them stuff I saw posted on this site about the $99 price. I couldn't even get him for the $115 price. He wasn't listed on the website so I couldn't get him for the website price either.

I signed up for a credit card (10 percent off) and used a $15 coupon (for $100 purchase or more w/ credit card) to get the price down to $114. I also picked up two FE Vehicons for about $14 each after the 10 percent and coupon discounts. I'm going to hold onto Optimus and wait for him to go on sale or the website price to drop and then I'll try to get a price adjustment.

TRU sucks.

Here are pics of the replacement one I picked up. I don't have pics of the original, but they were really bad. One of the chest panels was way off and did not click in place. You could really see the silver under the chest and the gap was really large. On the replacement you will notice no damage to the bumper and it looks good. Just a minor gap on the chest on this one.

This is an issue I forgot to address. Thanks for reminding me. I am sad to see returns and exchanges happen with toys, and collectibles in general, but I also dont want to be responsible for selling something secondhand that Im not 100% satisfied with, even if I have shown pics and explained it to the buyer, and then have the buyer be disappointed and upset anyway.

And along those lines, I hate to see people return/ exchange toys and have the retailer just put them back on the shelf because they look like theyre in resale condition. Then the second buyer is disappointed to find a previously played with toy, weapon missing or (ex)changed, etc. I see that from time to time and really dont know how people can sleep knowing they did something like that.

Just called TRU cust service. The rep did not seem willing to help & sounded like she was eating lunch or something. I asked her, "could you please check if this is a mistake" twice - and then she put me on hold for a few min., doing who knows what, then took me off hold. "The delay email still stands -not showing shipping." Hard to be nice when u have snide reps like that on the other end of the phone. Not good service at all. I'm crossing my fingers. A friend of mine said we should do a class action suit/get the feds or SEC involved in this. B/c they are not fulfilling pre-orders -probably intentionally delaying them, putting them in stores for $30 and 40 higher, and waiting for the 45 day window to close. Having the stock & lying about it essentially. Should be illegal if this is all true. Geoffrey should be shot in the face with an elephant gun if this ends badly.

I got the same emails and its getting to the point of wtf man. I imported 1 from Hong Kong a couple of months ago because I didn't want to go through this crap. I almost traded it when I for the 1st time ever was able to preorder with tru. I guess a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. I knew something was wrong when I checked my bank account and there was no charge. If tru cancels our preorders this will be one of the most shady things I have ever seen in collecting and I have been collecting for 15 years. I think tru was getting soo many people calling in and inquiring about the preorder that they decided to bump up the price in the stores and leave all the preorders hanging forcing us to hunt down $120-$140 primes. I have my import and thank God I haven't opened him, sold him, or traded him or I would be crapping my pants right now. After mp Soundwave I think I'm done with transformers. Everything is just getting rehashed or repainted now. I look at my collection and think to myself "I can't believe I bought all of these and haven't opened any of them." When my son is older I'm going to let him tear into my collection like one mega Christmas I could only dream about as a kid. I'll get enough enjoyment out of that to last me the rest of my life. :BOT: :CON:
