Rather buy a 3rd party new toy for Scorponok similar to what ToyWorld did for Fort Max. That is Leader class and cost around $114.

Hoping Toyworld Does a Scorponok city bot in scale with their Fort Max toy.
I'm really trying to figure out where your prices come from. They're almost as arbitrary as your height measurements.
i dunno why im coming to his aid (cause i was confused too and was ready to jump) BUT i think what he means is a new 3P scorponok relative to the size of the energon/botcon scorpies, and assuming the price would be in the 115 range.

I get that he's making a price assumption based on projected size... but $114? That's oddly specific...

Who cares if its gonna be 114 or 150 ? What matters is that its gonna be fun. Its a very expensive figure to begin with. But I didnt pay e-bay prices, I got the set from Funpub. So the way I see it, the money I saved by not buying it at e-bay prices is more than enough to buy this set. Im not down with that ugly hunchback Scorponok from Maketoys. and all PE is good for is making super deformed city bots these days, plus they really dont specialize in G1 alt modes. This purchase has me even re-thinking Toyworld Fort Max. (even though it transforms into an ant farm)

Randomly, I have BotCon Scorponok next to two of the FP Headmasters (Sigma L and Quadruple U). And he fits in really well! I'm happy to shell out a little more to figure out how nice these guys will look together.

And whenever MakeToys offers their "hunchback", I am SOOOOO there! As long as he's not priced like Utopia :-(

Also, I also told BBTS to ship my loot today as there were a lot of items piling up. Hopefully can tell y'all about it by next weekend.

 The $114 price comes from what BBTS sold TW Fort Max for. Figured if TW did a Scorponok in Fort Max Scale, It would also cost $114.

 Noticely lately that BBTS has a few Ultra-Leader class 3rd party TF toys for the specific $114 price tag.

So here it is. I must say this is very time consuming to install, so give yourself an hour minimum and be careful. I didn’t feel like anything was going to break, but still. The instructions are in color and make it very easy to figure out. The purple plastic is a 99% match to the original and blends quite nicely. My cheap camera pictures do not do the purples justice. The claws are nice and tight and pose nicely. The neck looks so much better. I dont know why Funpub made that huge crappy neck. When you take the stock neck out, it really makes you wonder WTF Funpub was thinking. Oh, well, problem fixed. The new neck turns 360 degrees and can look slightly up or down thanks to the way the piece moves naturally. It is two pieces. The round turning piece comes out with the neck when you remove the head . But its not too loose. You can just remove it from the headmaster and snap it back into place. According to the instructions, set 1 of 5 is the only set that requires installation. The others 4 sets will contain parts that apparently just peg in or snap on. I look forward to the other sets.

My moratorium on AEC molds notwithstanding, this set makes that Scorpnok super tempting.

Thanks for the pics, X!

As others said, Rated X, nice pictures. I took the plunge and got it, too. It is amazing how much of a difference this single set makes. But give yourself time to disassemble the base figure.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

Rated X - would you post pictures of Scorponok in alt mode? I'm also glad to hear that this kit gives the ability to turn the head. Hopefully I'll be busy adding this to my figure tomorrow night, shipping permitting.

Thanks for the alt mode pics. I think it looks better in the "tank construction thing", but it's good to see that there are options for those who want to display it in alt mode. I'll keep him in robot mode, but it'll be nice for some group shots at some point.

The other thing is that maybe, just maybe, if HR decides to keep on with the add-ons then it might make both modes much more attractive.

I've always loved the old Energon claws for this figure, but the new ones really do make it look different.

I think that's kind of a good thing. Really sets him apart.

Kinda nice, the new claws do make him look very different, but I still prefer the original claws, they are the coolest feature of the mold, so cool in fact that they're the only thing I kept from my two Scorponoks after they broke.

Im actually suprised at the amount of love the original claws get. To me the construction crane claws are reminiscent of a rescue bots/tonka toy kind of aesthetic. When it was all we had, I was able to sugarcoat it as being "neo". But in reality its not supposed to be energon scorponok. He is supposed to be G1 Scorponok complete with a new headmaster. So why not give him the real deal G1 claws that can actually hold things and still look cool ? I really hope they do a version of this kit for black zarak. That way I can leave the construction claws exclusively for Doublepunch. With a name like Doublepunch, the big popeye looking construction claws make a lot more sense.

Mine werent that bad. The seams on one claw were a bit open, but tightning the screw closed it fine. There was this weird white residue in the neck which I thought could have been glue. But then I figured it was meant to come loose to avoid breakage and allow neck rotation.
