This thing looks sooooo awesome :)!

I wouldn't count on BBTS carrying this. I pre-ordered mine through Robotkingdom.

Eek. I've never shopped Captured Prey or RK. I may have to if I just can't pass this guy up, and the more I see of it, the more I want it.

I've dealt with both of them in the past without issues. To be honest I would have preferred to pre-order through Captured Prey, but Robotkingdom got their pre-order up first and at the time it didn't look like any domestic retailers were going to get him. Nothing against Robotkingdom, I ordered Hercules through them, but I like to be able to deal with domestic retailers when possible. You know for stuff like returns, customer service, etc.

As much as I want to pull that trigger, longer thighs would've benefited this so greatly and fixed his proportions a bit more...

I'm still interested in this figure, but have the feeling I should wait for some reviews first.

Am I the only one seeing a 12'o clock shadow on these new pics?

That's what I'm waiting for too. I bought and modified a Heinkei one already. I need to be further convinced beyond the photos.

I've got a preorder in at that 3rdpartystore.com site that was carrying it first but I still haven't paid for it yet. It's still a valid order with them but it's still "processing" because I never gave them my credit card info. It's $99 plus $10 shipping there so I think I'll give it a shot.

I pre-ordered him from http://www.automatontoys.com/ . As a Canadian who ordered from a Canadian store, I may have to pay some taxes, but the low shipping cost and the lack of that dreadful orange cap will make up for it. When I receive him, he will so have a :CON: label added on his chest.

I can assume he's a voyager class? If yes, 100$ is a perfectly reasonable price.

I'm looking forward to have something better than the RtS legend figure to represent a classic G1 Megs. The original Megs is too expensive for the way he look and the masterpiece is out of the question because WAY too expensive and it seem to have too many issues. The old RiD classic voyager Megs seem fine but even the gray version, he don't look like anything in any continuity and he don't look like the original at all.
Thank you, 3rd party!

I ordered mine from http://www.3rdpartystore.com, which was the first online retailer to carry him. I've seen a lot of opposition to purchasing Megs from there, but Toyworld has them listed as their partner site and "THE" store to pre-order the figure on their Facebook page. If you can't trust the developer, then no one is getting a Hegemon.

The BBTS and TFsource may can not carry this item, and the http://www.3rdpartystore.com/ is our partner site, we give them the full right to sell this Hegemon product, if anyone need to purchase bulk orders, please contact them directly, the email is sales.toyworld@gmail.com, thanks. - Toyworld

I'd be curious to know why. Perhaps those two are playing it safe due to either toy safety laws or a previous slap on the wrist from Hasbro?

I suspect the latter as I'm becoming convinced that BBTS will soon be getting out of the third party game. They don't seem to front page too much third party stuff these days and seem to be carrying less and less of it ever since the recent clearance sale they did on third party items.

I hope I'm wrong though, because BBTS is my main source for everything I collect.

I think they're just trying to thin down their selection of 3rd party items. Too many companies all popping up overnight with the next new thing that is never as good as the concept art they see when they order them, too many versions of the same thing (Nightbird, Powerglide, Seaspray, Devastator, etc.), too many parts made for other 3rd party items (if there are only say 3,000 people own Protector exactly how many Dr Wu faces are they going to really sell? Maybe 1 person in 20 tops?), and finally, iGear. BBTS doesn't charge for your preorder until they get the item in stock (which is awesome) but they have to pay for it up front when they order from the company. So they've been out the money on both PP-05s for well over a year now and it keeps getting pushed farther and farther back. Plus, iGear sells directly at a lower price with free shipping (but you have to pay upfront which sucks) so how can they compete with that? That's not even factoring in the dozens of projects they've announced that have fallen into development limbo.

Most 3rd party companies are on thin ice right now. Even the legendary Fansprojects, the company I feel is most directly responsible for the 3rd party boom, hasn't put anything out in like a year and their next product has some people put off because it's a more original concept than their comfortable with. Maketoys has had a very strong start but it would only take a few stumbles at this point to fall. TFC is going to run into a wall soon enough when they realize that not every conbiner part will sell for $120 and somebody will end up with a half finished Monstructor or something. BTS' Sonicron and those cassettes, need I say more? Between Headrobots and Junkion Blacksmith you can have every single G1 Headmaster have a head made in this century with several to spare. That Rolling Thunder Optimus monstrosity that you had to by two of together ("why buy one when you can have two at twice the price?") that eventually clearanced out. And that's not counting all of the Shapeways DIY people who just keep making updates to the same basic designs.

Hell, even I'm getting into it with my Octopunch set that I'm currently working on so it's pretty safe to say the market's a little flooded at this point. Though I'm still not sure if I'm going to garage kit some from my home or make them available on publicly on Shapeways or both or if they may end up in iGears hands somehow and never see the light of day. (The tentacles and shoulder pieces have been fully rendered and have to be uploaded to Shapeways for testing, for anyone who might care.)

Pre-ordered mine today from Captured Prey. I've gotta say that I'm really excited about it.

The fact that it transforms into a realistic handgun can't help. Why would they want to order a bunch of these just to have them confiscated at customs?

They wouldn't, and that's exactly why ToyWorld posted that message. I'm very curious how U.S. retailer Captured Prey managed to slip Hegemon under the radar. I did notice that the photos feature a cap on the tip of the pistol, which could very well be the answer to the customs issues. I'm sure the cap is removable, though.

You can mock the name as much as you like, but it's a perfect fit for him!
