I got them at a chinese store about 2 decades ago. The back carton of the box showed 4 main models, of which I only got 3, the last one being a black one that never came to the stores

Each set came with a main robot and a driller vehicle, with varied colors in their armor, weaponry and pilots (small metallic figures that could be inserted into both the robot and drillers)

Some came with unique pieces, like rubber hoses, sniper arm cannons with individual pilots for them, etc
:x All of the pieces were interchangeable, allowing for strange combinations, one could even attach a driller to a robot as an arm.

Dont remember their name, sadly, so i come to the experts on the field.

a better question would be, "what are these a knock-off of?"

I had these, too! A whole bunch. They were knocked off by a million companies in the 80s and 90s... I'm afraid I simply don't remember who made them. Possibly Grandstand or Bluebird, maybe? I imagine they're a licensed product, as they fit in with the Zoids/Diaclone/Manta Force-type stuff coming out of Japan at the time.

I checked. Didnt find anything specific, but the pilots from Bluebirds Manta/Viper Ssquad look pretty much the same as the ones that came with my robots :-?

Still, I hope somebody knows the name of these little guys, Ive always wanted to buy #4 (the black one that got away  )

They look like Starriors bootlegs, but there's a lot of original looking stuff in there as well. Certainly Tomy influenced.

Ive seen these and my sons haev some. They arent Starriors either even though some of the pieces do fit together. They were part of a line called Multiforce or also seen packages as Multimac. Kind of like a mix of Starriors/ first Zoids line and Robotix/ lego. My sons still love these. I see the sets on ebay sometimes byt they tend to fetch a high price. Really cool items.
