Hey everyone. I've been around for a while but don't post much. I recently got rid of a few of my older TFs because I basically want to grab some new stuff. I need help though. I'm so confused with all the lines (classics, Universe, RID etc). I really love the look of the masterpiece figures but I just am not going to spend that much. Is there a more reasonably priced substitute? I have some of the movie figures but I really want to get a collection that is more along the lines of the cartoon which I watched religiously as a kid. The important things to me are cartoon accuracy, poseability, and scale. I'd rather not have a Bumblebee that is bigger than Megatron etc. I like the look of the Robot Masters but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of a selection and figures that would fit well in that scale.

G1 vintages? Legends but it's a bit limited in characters.

You probably want to get into the Classics lines. Classics, Universe, and Generations are the G1 characters with new engineering. If you look at the buy, sell, and trad forum here you can find some a bunch of them cheap. One that you want to get, for sure, is the movie two pack exclusive that will have Classics Optimus Prime and a movie Prime.

Yeah, I'd say anything from what we call the "Classics-verse" would be up your alley: Classics, Takara's Henkei line, "Universe 2.0", the small Reveal the Shield sub-line, and the recent and continuing Generations line (not including the AoE figures that Hasbro is calling Generations for some reason).

Sometimes this collection of lines is referred to as "C.H.U.R.G." for Classics, Henkei, Universe 2.0, Reveal the Shield, and Generations.

Thanks for all the help guys. I've begun doing my research. I think I may just bite the bullet and work with a mix of masterpiece and other figures. I really like some of the 3rd party figures like the Hegemon etc. There are some really awesome figures so I guess I'll just pony up and go for it.

When you plan your purchases it doesn't end up all too bad. The MP and Classics lines give you quite the selection, so by all means, there are so many choices to make!
